Who: V’ton, Dysiiliouth, Absinth, Keiko
What: Flirtatious Meetings and Nervous Men
When: Mid-day
Where: Feeding Grounds
Warnings: -You’ll just have to see.
After the momentous and tumultuous events of the hatching, V’ton had thrown himself back into his duties as Wing Leader. The loss of V’mio had upset them all, and meant there was a small reshuffling as new people were added. He still had drills to write, riders to work with and worry over, dragons to make sure were healthy and gear to manage. All of which, and more, was really a way to fill his time. That morning, he’d been secreted in his Weyr again, steadfastly working away at his lists and plans and diagrams…. If you call really, staring at the drawing Keiko had done of Dysiiliouth on the beach that day working, that is. He had tried almost everything to keep his thoughts off the girl since the hatching, and failed miserably. Sighing, he leaned back in his chair, a faint, unbidden fond smile tracing over his lips, before he shook his head. “This is insane.” He murmured, running a hand through his hair.
Just go to her. The soft, amused yet concerned tone of his bronze rang in his head, and V’ton glanced over at the newly repaired ledge, where Dysiiliouth lounged rather comfortably in the early morning sun. Leaning back in his chair, the wing leader frowned thoughtfully. “I could. But, even if things do not change now that she rides a blue,” He was cut off again, by a small, amused rumble, Just go to her. Dysiiliouth repeated. Absinth is unique. And Keiko would probably appreciate knowing you still care. Flights are flights. She likes you, and you her. Stop moping about in here and hiding. I did not choose a coward. Staring at Dysiiliouth in slight annoyance, then chagrin, V’ton chuckled somewhat weakly.
“Fine. Fine, you’re right. I have been hiding.” He glanced back at the picture, images of Keiko and he toying about in the water with the dolphins, dancing on the sands, enjoying a shared dinner and more once more filtering through his brain. She was hard to ignore, even when she wasn’t around! “Blasted female!” He muttered, though there was a self-depreciating and amused smile on his face. Finishing the current list quickly, he set everything away neatly before rising, taking care to grab both a sword and his belt pouch, as thought struck him. “Dys, where did I put that…?” He muttered, spinning around at the bronzes nudge to grab a small package from a shelf. “Thank you.” The bronze rumbled again in amusement, before he shook, and rose, stretching lithely and using up most of the free space to do so, slowly whirling green eyes on his partner.
I will take you. But first, you should get something else to apologize for ignoring her these past few days. He stated, waiting patiently as V’ton hooked the carry-straps and riding harness into place. No use showing new Weyrlings bad habits, after all… Grumbling at his bronze, V’ton swung himself abard the broad shoulders before the pair winked away to the market. After a brief time, they were back, this time hovering beside the feeding pens as they studied the new hatchling pairs below. Picking a clear area to set down in, Dysiiliouth rumbled in amusement at V’ton’s nerves. Ignoring the bronze-and provoking another mental nudge for it, he slid down to the ground, eyes scanning the sleeping or eating blue dragonets for Absinth-distinct as he was-and Keiko-distinct as she was.
