Who: Raelwyn and whoever
What: Chores, Dock Work
When: Afternoon
Where: The…docks? XD
After finally having her stitches removed, Raelwyn was more than happy to fall fully back into her candidate duties. After limping around for what seemed like an eternity, Tess had declared her legs completely healed and ready to go. Grinning, the girl wandered down to the beach after lunch was over, her bronze swooping above her in dizzying circles. Dock work. This would certainly be a new experience for her, since she had never been given that particular chore before. Of course, one of the perks was the ability to keep Tydus with her, unlike in the kitchens or the infirmary. Since the harper had really no idea what to expect, she had worn short cloth pants and a sleeveless shirt, anticipating getting wet. Approaching the bustling dock, Rael moved toward the man she had been instructed to see, and inquired as to what was needed of her.
Looking over her decidedly slim appearance, he quirked a brow and set her about mending nets, something he deemed easy enough for her to do. Of course, there was a surprising strength lying under the harper’s girly appearance, but it wasn’t her place to argue her assignment. After a sailor gave her a few brief instructions, the candidate sat down at the edge of the dock with a pile of nets on one side of her, and her tools on the other. Grabbing the first net and the little knife, Raelwyn began to cut the loose edges of the hole away, sure to keep each edge clean. Then, she cut off pieces of the twine given to her, each long enough to fill the hole and then some. Looping and knotting the strands together, she worked methodically, certain to keep her ties tight.
Briefly, the harper wandered who else had been given this chore, and occasionally glanced around for another candidate or weyrling. Of course, it could be they had been given another assignment on the dock, so she eventually stopped looking, concentrating on the nets. Humming to herself to keep working at a decent pace, Raelwyn worked meticulously, certain that none of her repairs would rip. Tydus settled down beside her, rather bored with the whole thing. However, despite his disinterest with this mundane chore, the bronze love His more than anything, and would stay at her side whenever possible. Snuggling close so he lay against her leg, the flit curled up and dozed, lulled by her voice.
