Character:
Name: Dacktuo
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Occupation: Candidate
Description: Standing a little on the short side at 5’6”, Dackt is a slender, lithe figure with little bulk to his small frame. Wiry rather than scrawny though, his body and limbs are tempered and honed to be deceptively strong, though he’ll never be a major-weight. Narrow shoulders lead into a slender chest and even more narrow hips, his bodily lines rather straight and unchanging. A rounded face is set with large, seemingly expressive blue eyes that have an unusual tendency to reflect back more reds, giving them and occasional half-glimpsed purple hue. Medium toned chestnut hair frames his face in short bangs, the majority typically gathered into a long braid that falls mid-back. When unbound, it has a slight wave, but he hardly if ever goes into public with it down unless it’s for an ulterior motive.
He has a small pert nose over a mouth typically twisted into a sardonic grin or smirk, but that can be plush and inviting if he chooses. Arched brows wing over his eyes, of medium thickness. His whole demeanor speaks of careful cultivation of resources, couple with a wild abandon bordering on recklessness. His small body and soft features have lent him a much younger visage than his actual age would attest to. He has used his looks to his advantage more than once, both as a seduction technique, and to enhance the look of a younger, less experienced child. He’s learned that many drop their guard around children as they do not around adults, and it has given him multiple opportunities to do whatever it is he’s there to do.
His clothing can change from day to day, but his ‘work clothes’ are solid black, a leather jacket and breeches simply festooned in pockets that hold any number of lockpicks, knives, and even some small pieces of stolen rediscovered tech. Otherwise, he prefers either light leather jerkins offering slight protection from knives, or thinner linen garments that leave him with absolute freedom of movement.
His expressions typically range from excited to sarcastic, with only a touch of visible seriousness to the set of his features. He is very good at hiding his true emotions behind a grinning mask, and few in his previous profession have called him a ‘grinning fool’ for his typical lack of differing expressions and the general mocking feel of his persona and jests. He walks with a cool, easy gait that strides along with the most efficiency, using up the least amount of effort to get him where he needs to be. He can sprint like a runner, quick for a short time, but his endurance is for slower movement over a longer period of time, testament to moving often and under his own power.

Description: The most striking thing about this dragon is his color: a brown so dark that he almost seems black. Only the brightest light - such as direct sunlight - will reveal that he is indeed a brown. While it will make him quite conspicuous around the Weyr in the daytime, at night or in the shadows of the jungle he will blend nigh seamlessly into the background. A mirthful set of whirling green-blue eyes might be the only warning one has before one of his pranks is sprung. At hatching, one detraction of this camoflage will be the fluorescent green coloring of his talons, but they will quickly grow out of that color into a matching obsidian.
Quite small for a brown, he will stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the larger blues. Despite his small stature, his wings are overly large even for a normal brown, and he’ll never quite grown into them. Luckily, he was graced with a compact musculature that allows him to keep them aloft despite their size. The combination of this will allow him a much greater dexterity than his larger brothers, and when he tucks his wings in tightly he can wriggle through just about anywhere.
Though unnoticed at first glance, a closer inspection will reveal an abnormality in his claws past their initial coloring. His two foreclaws each have an extra digit, and each of the digits is a touch thinner than usual, allowing him a greater dexterity than most when grasping or moving objects. As if to make up for it, his hindclaws a missing a digit and are thicker. The center digit on his hindclaws is raised up with a thicker bit of muscle, reminiscent of Earth raptors in appearance.
Personality: Desyth is a dragon that likes to taunt. Whether it’s a playful tease or an impish challenge, there will always be a bit of a wicked gleam to his tone. Most of his commentary will run along a snarky vein, and it will take a thick skin to deal with him for extended periods of time. Not to say that he is ever mean - he’s actually quite genial, usually - but that his mannerisms can be more than a little frustrating for one not equipped to jibe back at him. He will gentle his teasing a bit when he gets to know some who can’t handle the full brunt of it, giving a small peek into the carefully-hidden sweetness that hides behind his jocular impudence.
He’s a very playful dragon, and while his kitten-like tendencies will fade with age he will always have an abounding love of games. Games that require stealth and tracking (such as more complex versions of hide-and-seek) are among his favorites, as are games of chance. Games in which the rules change throughout them are also met with unbridled glee. He does have a bit of a competitive side, but he’s good-natured enough to laugh and congratulate another when he’s been beaten (and challenge them again later when he’s sure he’ll win). His good humor can be rather infectious, and it might not be uncommon for him to rile a decent grouping of the Weyr’s denizens into joining him in whatever game he’s thought up at the time.
Impetuous and adventurous almost to a fault, Desyth will not be a fan of authority. At least, not outwardly. Pranks and half-comments will follow any who attempt to impose their will on him, and he will laugh in the face of most scoldings (save only for when he knows he really deserves it). Slightly reckless, he’ll be the first to give a teacher or leader a near heart attack by attempting some move that even an experienced dragon would call foolhardy. If he manages to successfully accomplish any such tactic, any admonishments will be met with the smug imputation that he both did it and was fine. If he fails, lectures will be brushed off with a dismissive yeah, yeah, he was injured and learned his lesson - or, rather, learned what not to do next time he attempted such a feat. Despite all evidence to the contrary, though, he’s actually very good about following direct orders (especially ones that make sense) and has his own sense of honor about doing what he says he will. One way to gain assurance that he will not attempt something again is to get him to give his word on it, as he won’t go back on that (though he might try to find ways around it).
It’s a bit difficult to actually get under this dragon’s skin and make him truly angry, but it is also something that one should never endeavor to accomplish. He isn’t one for snarled words and angry bugles. No, he has a much more quietly vicious side to him when angered, allowing him to be pleasant to his foe even while the cogs of his mind calculate the most fittingly severe retaliation. Most will never see his revenge coming, instead being generally blindsided with it. Calm and calculated he will remain despite his ire, making him a formidable enemy to gain.
Despite his outward appearance of taking little seriously, this dragon is one to weigh each decision carefully in his own mind before acting, and the inside of his mind is quite a bit more grave than one would expect. One thing that he is very fervent about is his bond with his Rider. His true match as a partner, and eternally his best friend, the amount of love and regard felt by Desyth for His is immense. However, outwardly, he tends to be a bit stereotypically ‘male’ about the ‘love’ bit. On the surface, their bond will be one of lightheartedness and silly antics, constantly poking fun at one another, and Desyth will resent any indictment of him ever being at all a sap...even as he curls up with His in an affectionate cuddle.
