Cave Homestead
A small piece of land outside of a holding in the south, Savareniel purchased it as the perfect place to live while hunting and forging, and to escape from the memories that Fort in the North held. More so, however, the lushness of the vegetation and fresh fruits were an amazing thing to have regularly, and free for the taking from the world outside his door. The cave isn’t part of a system, even if it once was, and has four ‘rooms’ that come off of it, the furthest back and lowest housing a small, spring fed pool of fresh water, perfect for usig in cleaning things, and a great supply of one of life’s most vital needs. The other two are opposite the third along a tunnel, and he, after consulting a Miner Craft, had marked out and started chiseling by hand shelves into the walls alongside them.
The middling room holds piles and jars of stored food on one wall, and is mostly really taken over in devotion to the hides he works, and pelts, and crates of feathers to be turned into whatever he desires. Those are his life, or were before coming to the Weyr, and he still returns from time to time to gather his products to sell, though most wet to paying off the cave he owns.
The largest, though, is given over to stabling and storing fodder for his beloved runnerbeast, Paxars, who can while away time in content safe from predators and Thread here. Soft rushes cover half the room, separated from the stores by a wood partition that forms a stall, where a shelf is covered with a bin for sweet feed, and a wicker-work rack for hay. The rest of the room is filled with grain and whatnot, including pieces of tack for the animal.
The last room is a moderate size and holds a chest where he keeps his clothing and trinkets not yet brought to the Weyr, a table with tools spread out on it, and a sleeping-couch on a stone shelf spread with heavy furs, perfect for a bed in his mind. A few various pieces of artistic metal work, and some weapons crafted both plain, and one or two jeweled, to sell at gathers are carefully wrapped in their own hides beside the bed.
Candidate Barracks:
Bunked in the barracks, and still not sure how he ended up agreeing to this, Savareniel brought only two chests, one large and one small, and three bundles of hides, furs, and feathers, along with one of them being pieces for his trained craft. The larger chest holds the forged weapons he’s crafted to sell, and a few particularly nice hides that he’s unwilling to part with, brought over from his cave.
There are a few worked metal trinkets in there, and a couple of smaller gems he’d traded for to set, as well. The small chest sits atop the larger, and holds his clothes, and a few personal affects, including a journal-book which also holds a tally of his hunts, craft-work, and profits made/lost. The three bundles are kept carefully under the bed, each a wicker carrier lined with a sturdy hide to protect the innards, and locked carefully.
Weyr Stable
Begging and bartering, and the cost of upkeep plus some feathers, two large hides, and one of his precious pelts, earned Savareniel a rather nice stall for his beloved stallion, roomy as the cave had been, and better aired, since it was aboveground. More so, the fresh fodder, and a cubby to himself in the tack room to store Paxars tack. This is where he spends most of his time, when not working or crafting or at lessons, riding or just enjoying his horses’ company with Shen.
