Everything was just second nature to Raelwyn now. After being a candidate for four turns, the girl had gone through every chore the weyr had to boast, and could do it all practically blindfolded if she had to. That wasn’t necessary, of course, but you get the meaning. Entering the kitchens, the harper smiled and waved at a few of the drudges, recognizing them easily. This wasn’t her first rodeo, not by a long shot. Approaching the head cook, the candidate nodded as she was assigned her chore, quickly making her way over the large black cauldron hanging over the glowing coals. Tydus was slung around her neck, yawning profusely while gazing about with disinterest. He had seen this place a hundred times before, after all, and he was rather apathetic to the whole thing. Cloud, on the other hand, was curled up high on one of the ceiling beams, glaring down at the kitchen moodily. There were far too many people down there and he didn’t want them touching him.

Shaking her head, once more gathering her patience, Rael smiled softly and send her brown comforting thoughts, hoping to soothe him a bit. She knew that he was a picky little thing, particularly about who he allowed to touch him, and right now that list was fairly small. He liked Brillia and Toll, of course, and his clutchsiblings, but everything else? He acted as if it was practically diseased. Except for Raelwyn, of course. She was considered to be His, and he was highly and righteously protective of her. Of course, that only made his relationship with Tydus all the more unstable, as both of them were pretty jealous little guys.

Deftly grabbing a knife and sliding a tuber in front of her, Raelwyn made quick chopping motions with the blade while moving the vegetable down swiftly, sliding the pieces into the pot when she was through. Repeating the process, the harper was making fast work of her chore, moving about with practiced ease. This stuff was totally old hat to her by now. As she worked, the candidate began humming lowly, not loud enough for anyone but herself and Tydus to hear, and Cloud too, if he focused with his mind. Perhaps that would help soothe the brown. It was repetitive, dull work, but Rael plowed through it easily, knife moving as quickly as a blink. Her bronze began flicking his tail in time with her humming, rather bored himself. Tydus would have loved to take off and do something interesting and fun, but he wasn’t about to leave Hisgirl all alone in this smell-good-place with so many males about. Besides, even the small-stupid-brown was too far away to protect her properly, and so the bronze was going to handle it himself, thank you.

As she worked, the girl glanced over occasionally, wondering if anyone else would show up for kitchen duties. She hadn’t seen anyone else posted for this chore in the candidate barracks, which meant it was either weyrlings or wherlings who would be helping. Raelwyn continued to hum, too soft to be heard, instinctively glancing down to make sure she wasn’t going to chop her fingers off. Even for a practiced hand like hers, it never hurt to use a little caution.

You could hear him coming from a dragonlength away. A few of the drudges looked up in fear. Not him. Well, he wasn't someone to be feared. No, he never meant any harm in what he did. He was just a lot to handle. A little too much for some of the older or grumpier drudges. No, they saw no amusement in his antics.

Of course, C'ko was this horrible offender of the drudges. The small weyrlign was a little too loud for his size and man found him obnoxious. And the boy was in a particularly obnoxious mood. Surprisingly, the sound of his boots hitting the stone floor was very audible,even despite the noise of the kitchen.

And this was soon followed by his high-pitched voice. "Coooooooooooooooooooooo" he took asmall pause to breathe, "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooking!
With the end, he slid into the kitchen, arms outspread in a ta-da pose. Of course, this got many glares.C'ko quickly doubted that he would actuall be allowed to cook.

The eventual-bluerider didn't let that get him down and gave everyone in the room. A few of the glares melted. A few got worse. He literally bounced around the kitchen, giving a big,loud,annoying hello to each and every person. He ended at Raelwyn.

"Hiiiiiya!" he called, letting his grin get slightly smaller so he could take in what she was doing. He stood on his tip-toes to properly see what she was doind and nodded his head enthusiastically. He would help!!! Without waiting to be assigned a task or a return greeting from Rael, he began to turn around in circles to find a knife.
