Past RP Experience: Umm quite a bit with DRoP- started '05-'06, continued until end of '08. I disappeared for RL for all of '09, but I'm back now. xD I've run my own Weyr, was co-admin in two, and a member in about 8 others? Probably more. ^^
Character:
Name: L'mar
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: bisexual, leaning on homo
Occupation: Weyrling
Description: L’mar’s hair is normally cut to his scalp, it’s color difficult to identify. However, he grows it out every now and again, revealing a sandy-brown color, or a light brown. Large, narrow ears cut back and seem closer to his head when it is grown out, but when he cuts it once more, they seem to stick out, and are pretty large. Eyebrows curve down on each end of his face, almost to the corner of his eyes – just a few millimeters shy. Those frame smoky blue eyes, normally alight and full of mischief.
In the center of his long, narrow face, a long, slightly pointy nose arises. Just below that, thin, wide lips appear, devoid of much color except for a light salmon. L’mar has a face and head ends in a narrow, pointed chin. He has a fairly tanned skin tone, with plenty of freckles and other blemishes, that is a nice contrast to his wide, off-white smile.
Certainly not the tallest guy around, standing at about 5’8”, L’mar generally doesn’t command much attention just by looks. He’s easily disregarded as not much to worry about, easily ignored, easily put aside for being dealt with later. However, that’s one of the things that he’ll quickly take advantage of. The weyrling’s so used to be overlooked that he’s bent it to use as an advantage.
Loving to wear slightly baggy clothing, L’mar doesn’t think for much for anything other than comfortable, especially when it comes to clothing. He likes earthy, lazy tones, unless he’s doing business, at which point he’ll dress in according attire.
Personality:There are not really words to describe L’mar’s personality. He is random to a point – one moment caring and in control, the next bombarding you playfully, both physically and through speech. This, however, is not a lack of intelligence, quite the contrary. L’mar is very smart… he’s simply a bit too lazy to use the extent of his knowledge, unless it involves tact. He certainly uses that, especially when it gets him out of trouble.
When L’mar is put in an important situation, he will straighten up. It’s when he realizes he has to be responsible that he becomes so. His friends just have to remind him every now and again that he‘s a weyrling now, and he has to act a little more mature now. Without such a reminder, he is just an amusing boy-turned-man who is not above throwing you over his shoulder when he’s in the mood.
L’mar loves mischief, and if something on a small scale happens, you can be sure he’s behind it. It’s almost unavoidable – when he’s bored, he does weird, random things that no one can control. Not that you’d want to – these little things are what makes you love L’mar. After all, you know he’d never purposefully attempt to hurt you. He’s just… messing around. L’mar’s quite innocent when it comes to that.
Probably a product of L’mar’s upbringing, he always feels the need to be in love. Even when not involved with anybody, he has to have his sights set on someone, has to charm someone, has to have someone. And when he is involved, well, he falls in love fast and hard. Usually, his charms have the girl in love with him, as well. It’s sweet, if a little sickening, but L’mar is frequently in long-term relationships.
Having quite a few odd quirks about him, L’mar’s main one is that he is always moving. Even if he’s sitting around, there’s a good chance his feet will be shifting and flexing and moving. When he’s standing around, talking, he’ll have a stick or something else of the kind in his hands, twirling it and throwing it in the air, catching it again swiftly. If he’s not doing anything else, then he’ll be tapping on surfaces, making some kind of beat and noise.
History: Lia was a simple girl, Searched from the weaver hall. She Impressed a green, Oireth, her first time Standing, and it changed her life completely. She adapted to Weyr life easily, but always felt the pang that she probably would never meet ‘the one’ that she and her girl friends had dreamed about at the Hall, and would never have her family. Around the time that she was finally dealing with this disappointment, mainly due to Oireth’s frequent Flights and all of her friends, she met brown rider R’mor.
He had been the middle child of a holder close to their Weyr, and had grown up like Lia: with the expectations to meet a nice girl, Join with her, and create a family. After being Searched, he, too, had to give up his hopes for the future he had grown up imagining… although, admittedly, upon Impressing his brown Fadikth, he didn’t mind nearly as much giving up the prospect of a family, with how much he gained. But then he met green rider Lia.
It was after a Flight, and the pair delightedly fell in love, and became weyrmates. Soon after, Lia went on maternity leave, and then Liamar was born. R’mor and Lia loved their little boy desperately, and soon after, Lia decided she wanted to give Liamar another sibling… practically unheard of within the Weyr. They tried and tried, and after a little over a turn, their little girl came to Pern.
Liamar and Lialla were the best of siblings, even at the ages of 3 and 2. They made up a perfect little hold family, except they were in the Weyr, and their parents were dragon riders. But other than Lia and R’mor’s devotion to their dragons, their wings, their Weyr, it was simply the best family unit that could be created in a Weyr. Both siblings had big plans… big plans, with Liamar wanting to become a dragon rider, and Lialla wanting to go to Healer Hall.
So that’s what they set out to do. The perfect little family began breaking up, when Lialla left at the age of ten to go to the Healer Hall. Then, Liamar was able to Stand. Unlike his parents, he didn’t Impress the first time… or the second… or the third. Eventually, he decided to try his luck someplace else. Liam moved away, deciding on Silver Cove. Not long after he arrived did the sickness begin, but he didn't leave; couldn't leave. Instead, he found his way out, after watching too many people die, in following the Weyrleader to Cerulean Weyr.
He left Silver Cove a much more somber person than he had been going in, and Cerulean wasn't much better. It seemed that most of the people there had a shadow hanging above their heads, much like he did. Still, Liamar Stood at the meager clutch on the Sands, and Stood eagerly, grasping for straws at his former dream. And, this time, he was successful. A little green sidled up to him, much too happy for the little thing that she was, and her eyes whirled rainbow as she spoke. L'marMine, please feed me, please feed your Dalisth the green pleaded. What could Liamar (now L'mar) do but agree, and lead her towards the food?
He's still having trouble adjusting to the new Weyr, although (no thanks to his little green) L'mar's beginning to make friends. While wandering the beach one day, he found the remnants of a flitter clutch. The eggs were generally decimated: from the shards, he judged that there had been maybe six or seven eggs, probably attacked by a wherry. A little ways down, apparently rolled accidentally out of the way of the turmoil, was a small egg that's occupant had survived. L'mar took the egg back with him (to Dali's delight) and it hatched to be a little blue, whom he is still trying to find a name for.
Fun Facts: L'mar is anything but a coward, but if Dalisth is ever, ever in trouble... I wouldn't put it past him to run, purely to get her out of the situation. Oh, and he runs like a girl. ^^
Bonded Critter(s):
Type: Dragon
Name: Dalisth
Color: Green (336F09)
Age: 1 Turn
Description:
More petite than small, Dalisth is a fragile-looking creature. She's always going to be short, but she makes up for it with the most lovely proportions... her tail is long and flirtatious, and her head is small and angled. Her hind and forelimbs are proportioned so that walking is awkward on land, but in water she is right at home. Not to mention in the air, where her wingspan is a little larger than you'd expect with her size. She's agile, though her stamina is practically nonexistent, and never will Dalisth have an ounce of muscle not required for anything she deems useful.
The green is a lovely light forest-green. Her hide is thin, requiring a little extra oiling so as to keep from flaking, but it's a pretty color, lightening only along her wingtips. The only other place where her coloring strays is a little stripe of the lightest green along her left headknob. Dalisth is a little self-conscious about her stripe, as is evidenced by her sleeping positions. She puts on a more confident front in the daytime, but when she sleeps her wing is always extended to hide her left headknob completely.
Personality: Shaping up into an innocent little flirt, Dalisth will converse with any dragon, of any age, so long as he is a he. Even as a young weyrling, she does it purely out of instinct. If asked about it, Dali will claim that golds are vain and greens are dimglows, but really, she just likes to talk to the boys of the Weyr (with no obvious focus on any particular color). Because of this, she can be a bit of a tomboy as well, always up for a prank or a test of strength. Albeit, the former is probably also because of her bonded.
As she grows up, she develops some other qualities. Dalisth is very big on the sanctity of life, and she won't allow Hers to harm so much as a tunnelsnake, unless, of course, it's threatening to bite him. Even then, she will later exist on taking the creature between, often asking an older male dragon to complete the task until she can do it, herself. The green is not shy in the least about asking for help, as long as it is from one of the boy dragons. Among other girls, especially greens, she can become more ornery and difficult.
Fun Facts: Dalisth is actually a romantic at heart, and when she does get all grown up, a dragon will have to woo her to actually make her his. None of just the talking of the talk, because she can do that with just about any male.
Bonded Critter(s):
Type: Firelizard
Name: Nuisance
Color: Blue
Age: 10 months
Description: If ‘plain’ can accurately be described of any creature who comes in the color blue, this flitter would match it. His hide is a dull, matte blue of middling hue, without anything to give him spark. Other than a slight shortening of his limbs, giving him a bit of a dumpy look, he would blend right into a fair of flitters, doomed to remain virtually unseen amongst others of his kin who far outshine him. It is due to this unusual ability to go overlooked, however, that this unusually intelligent blue firelizard has gained the ability to spy, and spy well. He can curl up in an unobtrusive location, and remain unseen for the duration of his time eavesdropping on conversations and happenings.
Luckily, if he is spotted, he is just as quick as his more colorful cousins, and can dart away and between before anyone can catch him. His shorter wings provide excellent maneuverability, cutting into his speed just a bit. His shorter tail is stronger in contrast, and despite the fact that he might not be able to wrap its length completely around his perch, he still can maintain a strong grip with it to help himself balance. Shorter headknobs and a pert, rounded beak finish the picture.
Personality: Of uncommon intelligence for a blue -or maybe even for a flitter- this blue will be able to better understand human speech than is typical for others of his kin. To this point, his favorite thing to do is gossip and listen in on conversations. He is gifted with the ability to stay absolutely still for long periods of time, assuring that his dull coloration will not draw any attention from his intended prey. As if to remind even himself that he really is a flitter, he has a very short attention span for nearly everything else, and if not nested down to catch some spy time, he’s flitting here and there with boundless energy, assumably stored up from all the times he lays in wait.
He has a distinct lack of interest in others of his own species, much more interested in the comings and goings of the twolegs. He may or may not rise to chase females, but it will be a spur of the moment thing if he does. He likes returning to his bonded to relay whatever tidbit of information he’s gathered. He’s very good at getting his meaning across to his bonded, but anyone else would have difficulty understanding the eccentric blue. It is because of this that his bonded will likely be privy -welcome or not- to many private goings on, such as couplings, secret meetings, or evening trysts.
