Character:
Name: K'ron
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Occupation: Weyrling (Former Beastcrafter)
Description: Still a young man, Kheron is just beginning to grow into his full form, reaching a nice height of 5'7" which indicates he will be a tall man when he matures. He has a good, solid body, and though he is far from burly or lanky he is hovering right in the middle, rather simply trim and fit. His arms are leanly muscular, showing a heathy amount of strength in his biceps and forearms, and his hands are large and deft. He still has plenty of growing to do, and if he continues in his current lifestyle is sure to be a strong and capable man. Kheron is also tanned from his days out in the Southern sun, and because he spent most of his time atop a runner or working with other animals he is a light brown. He still looks like a boy to men’s eyes, but his youthful appearance belies an inner strength.
That inward determination is rather visible, however, if you look at his eyes. They are a light brown, nearly amber, with a strong, intent expression in them that will tell you of his iron will. Those eyes are steady, even, and can appear almost steely at times, for he is determined and driven. His hair is also a deep, honey brown, with just a touch of red to break up the monotony of such a common hue. It is a good length of about two inches, which is left to hang around his face and fall around his ears in an almost wild, yet magnetic way. Kheron’s face is still that of a boy with no squared jaw or handsome features, but he does have an attractive face that is strong and calm. His expression is usually gentle but self-assured, for although he is a kind boy he can very easily handle himself. He walks in quite the same manner as well, with a long, purposeful stride that allows him to keep pace with grown men. He never slouches.
He looks good in almost any color. His brown hair and amber eyes are accented well by green, brown, red, blue, and many others, but since his favorite color is green, that is what you will usually see him in. His boots are heavy and thick, since he spends his days among beasts with large legs and thick hooves, they provide some protection in the instance one of the animals spook and steps on him. Kheron favors simple shirts that fit him well and do not hinder his movements. Courtesy of his lean, trim body he cuts a straight, elegant picture in his stark shirt and pants. A sturdy belt crosses his chest, which holds his quiver fast to his back, and his bow is never far from his hand. In the habit of professional archers, he wears a wherhide bracer on his bow arm, his left, and a tab on his drawing hand, his right. There is one long, white puckered scar on his left forearm, a reminder of his childhood, and various other scars on his arms from runner bites and the like.
Personality: Working with Conner has bred several good qualities into the boy, giving him a fine, solid personality. The first thing one learns when working with animals is patience, and Kheron has plenty. The obstinate herdbeasts and other creatures have taught him to be tolerant and gentle, which is the manner he has adopted with other people as well. Yet at the same time, he also learned determination, for one must have an unrelenting resolve to hold out against those irritating beasts. He is extremely indomitable and unwavering, and once he sets himself to something he does it. In all actuality, he is stubborn as a draybeast, putting his shoulder to the door and shoving with all he has in him. He may seem quiet and mild, but do not let him fool you. Under that calm exterior is an iron will that will not be shaken.
As he has proven upon several occurrences under extreme circumstances, he is also exceptionally calm under pressure. Kheron is steely, and can think logically even under the most demanding of conditions. Once, during a feline attack on the herd and Riona, he stayed cool and steered Calan straight towards the creature, landing an arrow right between it’s eyes. Conner’s exercises drilled this into him. This makes him seem brave, but it is more than that. It is a mastery over fear. He is very resolute.
Kheron is also rather kind, for he is composed and easygoing. He is actually a bit quiet and reserved, becoming more like his mother as he matures, but unlike her is not aloof and cold. He is a nice guy with a gentle demeanor that belies the stubbornness and cool mind that surfaces when he has need of them. Because of this, however, some consider him to be too rigid and forward, and he is not very successful with the ladies. Although it bothers him little, for he truly does not care for flirtations and the like. He prefers to spend his time outdoors on a cattledrive, or taking a ride with Riona. She is the single female that holds his interest. He is not the brazen sort.
At first impression, Kheron may appear to be a simple, nice guy with an amiable personality and a soft voice. He is. However, do not make the mistake of thinking he is going to let you shove him down and walk all over him. He has an inner strength that is not to be trifled with.
History: Born to a sailor named Ivar in Monaco Bay Hold, Kheron’s first memories were of the ocean. His father made a good living off those waters, spending many sevendays at a time upon a grand ship, and Kheron and his brother played on the beaches when he was young. He has very fond memories of Monaco that will never be forgotten. His mother Kiuma was a kind yet stern woman, and always seemed a bit aloof to her child. This never bothered the boy, however, as he and his brother Iveron were always adventuring about and were far too busy playing to notice. He found his own amount of trouble as a child, but never anything too serious, and overall he had the good graces of everyone about him. Aside from the occasional fight with a fellow boy that accompanied he and Iveron on their daily ventures, he had simple chores to occupy his time and plenty of other sailor’s whelps to play with. However, it was not long until he was bored with the same flat routine every day, and so set out to find himself something to occupy his time.
At the age of eleven turns, he discovered the local beastcrafter, and was immediately enthralled by the man’s world. Journeyman Conner was a kind but brisk man, and he allowed the boy to assist him with the runner and herdbeast care. Kheron could not have been more pleased with this, and set himself fully to the task of learning all he could about the beastcraft. It was not too much later that Conner discovered the boy was actually a diamond in the rough. He had a knack for working with animals, it seemed, and it did not take Conner long to seek out Kiuma and procure the boy for his unofficial ‘apprentice.’ Along with the Journeyman’s daughter, Riona, he grew under the man’s tutelage and at fourteen turns he looked to a runner’s back for his next challenge. The beast gave him enough trouble, that is for sure, and he still sports the scar on his left forearm from that rather ugly fall. However, he refused to give up, and before long he was an expert at riding runners. Conner set him to the task of rounding up the herdbeasts after they had finished grazing, and the boy decided that he liked being a wrangler. It was fun, not to mention demanding to stay atop the galloping runner while steering him just as he forced the dense herdbeasts towards the barn. Roping, cutting, and riding was all he knew.
The boy also grew rather close to Riona during the turns he spent working with Conner, and it was not too long after he began wrangling that she spent a rather healthy amount of time with him. However, the love he felt for her was not romantic, but a kind of platonic caring, much like a sister. It is not known how she felt in return. That aside, there is no doubt the two of them were close, or more like inseparable, and they were very good at what they did. Kheron loved his life, simple though it was, and he even considered that he and Riona might one day become lovers rather then just companions. They two of them made an excellent roping pair, and it is doubtless they would have made a handsome couple as well. Iveron was constantly nagging at his brother through the course of these three turns, always berating him for giving Conner more of his loyalty than he did their father. He, in turn, argued that Ivar would want his children to take to an occupation that suited them and they enjoyed. In reality, the other boy was simply jealous that the beastcrafter was so fond of Kheron, and that he was gathering a reputation for being one of the best riders Monaco could boast. It got under Iveron’s skin that his younger brother was so well-known.
Journeyman Conner surprised the boy on his fifteenth birthday by presenting him with his own runnerbeast, a sixteen-hand stud as white as the foam on the ocean’s waves. Kheron bestowed the name of Calan upon the animal, and it was not long before they worked as a fluid pair. Calan responded so quickly to the smallest of signals from his rider the signs were too minute for anyone watching them to notice. To an audience, it seemed the runner responded to his rider’s thoughts rather than physical gestures. Riona was thrilled with this, of course, and she spent many of her evenings going on rides with him. A few sevendays after his birthday, Conner amazed him further by giving him a bow and ordering the boy to saddle Calan. Kheron did so, and was floored when the beastcrafter announced that he would be learning how to shoot from runnerback. There were several targets set about the field the herdbeasts usually grazed in, and he was told to trot past each, slowly, and try to hit the mark. His first attempts were pathetic. However, as he progressed, the exercises became more complicated, and he had to gallop past the marks and hit the center circle, or he had to wait until he was almost past the mark before be could nock his arrow and aim to fire. The instruction of Conner took his archery skills to rather impressive levels.
In the more recent turns, Kheron has continued to grow more talented in beastcrafting, and has learned quite a bit of knowledge from his mentor. Of course, Conner has never really taken him on as an official apprentice, but he still treats the boy as his own son. Ivar, for his part, is very proud of him and holds no grudges that he did not take to sailing like his father. His archery skills have improved as well, and he and Calan are a well-paired wrangling team. Iveron is now sailing on the Silvertide with his father, but he has never really forgiven his brother for taking up so well with Conner and especially Riona. However, Kheron heeds him little, and spends his days upon Calan’s back working the herdbeasts with Conner and his daughter.
Fun Facts: He’s a wrangler, that’s for sure, with a talent for working with beasts that is surpassed by few journeyman beastcrafters. Roping and cutting comes so naturally to him that he handles a runner like a dragon can the air. Kheron likes to take his runner, Calan, out for rides whenever Conner has no need of his talents, and just enjoys everything about the animals and working with them. He has a little skill with the bow as well, since Conner also taught him how to shoot from runnerback. The beastcrafter always said that was the best way to kill a wild animal attacking your herd. In all actuality, he is a fairly decent shot, a rather skilled marksman upon Calan’s back due to several training sessions with his mentor.

Weakness: Medical care.
Bonded Critter(s):
Type: Dragon
Name: Calzanth
Color: Brown 5F0C02
Age: 16 Months
Description: Rich mahogany is the dominant hue in this huge brown's hide. Alongside the reddish color, a much darker chocolate nearly disappears into the shadows running down the lines of his wings and obscuring the large backridge in a slash of darkness. Dual-toned, he could easily slip into the shadows of night or the mid-light of dawn and dusk. Another slash of the darker color lines his throat, and if viewed from the front around dusk, his head might appear to float over the dark spot.
This brown is a large specimen of his kind, superbly built and of otherwise even proportion to his large body. Sleek rather than bulky, his size will give him lasting endurance equal to a bronze. Scoot over males, this impressive brown will likely catch the eye of any gold and many a green as he swoops and chases with the best of them. Luckily for them, he's not one to act overbearing, and if not for the constant attention of his bonded, this brown would let himself get dusty and overlooked all too easily.
Personality: If his physical form is the ideal brown, his personality is close enough to the same. Loyal and typically friendly, this brown is most likely to nuzzle up to his bonded and enjoy the sunset in quiet contentment. He enjoys the presence of other dragons and humans, though he will rarely speak to other twolegs. He will chase females, but his enjoyment comes mostly from the chase, and not from the catching. He delights in innocent bouts of competitiveness where he can really stretch for speed, but he is just a little shy around the females he's chasing at any other time. He can sometimes get a little clumsy around said females, getting mixed reactions.
Perhaps the one female who he can be around without mishap is Asileth, his clutchmate. He is protective of his little green sister, much like he exhibits protectiveness over his bonded. He enjoys being around her, but sometimes finds her exasperating just as any big brother would of a nagging little sister. Otherwise, his time is spent with his bonded, learning how to do what dragons do best with the other Weyrlings and enjoying it immensely. He can't wait to do his part and join the fight, as he hates thread with a passion, even above that of most dragons. Because of this, he will likely develop great skill with firestone.

Bonded Critter(s):
Type: Firelizard
Name: Yumi
Color: Green[/b]
Age: 3 Turns
Description: A little on the larger side for a green, this flitter’s limbs are heavily muscled beyond what would be normal for her size. Her endurance is amazing, and her flights are likely to last nearly forever as she stridently tests for her chosen male. Her hide is a dusky green, muted and dark along her entire length. The color looks very natural, almost of the forest shade, and she can blend into the jungle with ease. Due to her build, she’s lost a bit of the dexterity known to her color, and she may even be outmaneuvered by an ambitious blue, but he’d have to keep up to catch her. Because of this, she will most likely by won by browns and bronzes unless she takes a particular liking to said male.
Her features are sleek, belying her muscular build, and she carries a noble air to her upright head and gracefully curving neck. She takes special care of her tail, which seems to end too abruptly. The last two or three inches are gone, whether from birth or accident it’s not entirely clear. She always tries to keep it clear of danger and off the ground, wrapping it around things to ease the burden of carrying it and balance herself on a perch.
Personality: Rather laid back and quiet for a green, this flitter is a loyal little thing, enjoying the company of Hers over many others. She’s most content hanging around or on him, no matter what he’s doing. In contrast, that loyalty might lead her to the unusual option of choosing a mate for life, if she could make up her mind that is. She’s quite indecisive when it comes to many things, from males to her choice in food. She will often get flustered when given too many options to choose from and will then rely on Hers to make the decision for her. When the decision’s made, however, she never looks back, putting all her enjoyment, happiness and energy into the choice made.
She tends to become overprotective when Hers gets near the large beasts he’s so fond of, and she will become loud and bossy towards the creature in question, ordering it to be extra careful with Hers or fear her mighty wrath. She doesn’t discriminate against the larger draconic cousins in her sermons either. This little green will zoom right up to -anything- coming near Hers and deliver a tongue lashing of warning. If he impresses, she will likely claim dominant female status until she’s certain the Bigwings in question understands the ramifications. She will likely loosen up at this point, accepting -her- Bigwings as another facet of Hers.
Fun Facts:
-Not afraid of anything, this green has enough bravery for a creature several times her own size, especially if Hers is threatened. Felines? Pah. Thread? Step in line for a beat down. Or flame down, as the case may be. This green particularly likes utilizing firestone in her battles for protecting her bonded.
**I didn’t make him a pet, but if you guys think it would be fun to make one up for him, or for him to find one, let me know. :3
