Lissa is back, back again! Surgery was 6 weeks ago and I am finally recovered enough to become involved in roleplay again. My time will still be somewhat spaced and sporadic as I have to still take it easy with how much time I spend on the computer but I definitely want to be involved again.
So I'm off to try to catch up and see where to jump in.

Ambers Talaith and Sialaeth have laid their clutches, producing an amber and a gold egg between them! The clutch will hatch starting November 12, 2010. Get your candidates submitted for a chance at impression. There are also many ranking positions available for which to apply. We are a semi canon site with the five regular colors and two mutations but that may change as plot allows. We are a moderate to advanced roleplaying group and appreciate quality of roleplay. Please stop over and check us out. The History and Setting of Carew WeyrCarew Weyr was established towards the end of the first interval, shortly after Benden, High Reaches and Telgar. In our setting, Ista Weyr does not exist and Carew Weyr was founded in its place. Likewise, Ista Hold does not exist. Instead the principle hold is Carew Hold. When Carew Weyr was established, its construction utilized the last of the energy of the ancients' rock cutting equipment, which enabled quite spacious and comfortable accommodations. Since Carew Weyr is located where Ista Weyr would be in the published novels, it enjoys the same tropical type of climate. There are basically two seasons; the hot season and the rainy one. Since our timeline starts during the end of the First Long Interval prior to the Fifth pass of the Red Star, AIVAS has not been found (nor will it be), none of the events of the 9th pass have taken place, and green dragons impressing to women is neither unheard of nor uncommon. During the preceding turns, Pern has been enjoying the first of the prolonged intervals; four hundred long turns during which the Red Star has passed out of Pern’s orbit and Thread has not fallen upon the planet. Because of this, Thread is viewed at worst, as a myth, and at best, as a threat no longer. Only the most traditional and stalwart holders and craftsmen believe that the Threads will return. Even some dragonmen have become convinced that Thread is no more. At this time, several factors have converged to put the future of the Weyrs and indeed, all of Pern, in grave peril. Due to the long interval, the Lord Holders are disgruntled at tithing to their beholden Weyrs. Such tithes have become skimpy and in some cases, have fallen off altogether. Dragonriders have fallen into planet-wide disfavor and are not being accorded the courtesies which were prevalent during earlier times. Most recently, in turn 1255, three turns before the pass is due to start, a virulent plague has swept through the populace and decimated the ranks of Dragonriders. Though the illness was not often fatal to humans, it happened to be one of the few zoonotic diseases which could affect dragons as well as people and it hit the dragon population far harder than the humans. Many of Pern’s great dragons were killed by the illness, with the disease hitting those in the prime of their lives the hardest. Worse, of those Queens that are left after the plague, many have not risen in mating flights, though in the prime of their lives and are feared to be sterile. It is believed that those Queens who were but mildly stricken with the plague are still fertile, but no one knows what strange effects, if any, the illness will have upon future generations. At the end of turn 1256, with the plague ended a turn and a half ago, the Weyrs have started to recover from their grave loss. Even though reminders are everywhere life goes on. Even with the Weyrs vastly understaffed, filled with such ex-riders as did not suicide when their dying dragons went between and the grieving families, friends, weyrmates and lovers of those riders who could not bear life without their beloved lifemates, things are starting to look up. When Shayeth rose in her first glorious mating flight after the plague and clutched an astronomical forty eggs, everyone rejoiced in the hope of those precious unhatched dragonets, even though the gold egg seemed somewhat strange with its odd coloring. And the clutch did not disappoint, hatching out extremely healthy and hale hatchlings, including the twin amber dragonets from the oddly colored gold egg. Though smaller at hatching than golds, the twins are unmistakeably of Gold heritage but with a curious green sheen over their bodies. They are assumed to have all the other characteristics of Gold dragons but until the twins rise to mate for the first time, it will not be known for certain. However after the flight it soon became obvious that the new Weyrleader was worse than ineffective... he was apathetic, leaving the entire running of the Weyr in the Weyrwoman's overworked hands. The wings were disorganized and the weyrfolk disheartened so when Shayeth rose to mate again days after Lianarlath had her maiden flight, a mere 7 months after Shayeth's last flight, everyone hoped for a new Weyrleader and were not disappointed. Bronze Drumth caught the senior queen, making Ry'er the new Weyrleader. The bronze proved himself with a clutch of 39 eggs, including a gold. The older bronzerider has proven to be a quite good Weyrleader so far, but he will surely be challenged anew due to the Red Star being sighted. The Red Star was bracked by the Eye Rock on Winter Solstice, signaling the beginning of the Pass! Everyone is shocked, but no one more so than the Weyrleader, who was privately convinced Thread was no more after 400+ turns of thread-free life. Though there are 41 ten and a half month old senior Weyrlings, and 60 three month old junior Weyrlings, the Weyrs are all sadly understaffed due to the plague of a turn ago. How will they manage come the spring when thread begins to fall again? And with a Weyrwoman who is 6 months gone with child, will there even be enough golds to fly a queen's wing? Will the Weyrleader brush off even the appearance of the Red Star as an anomaly? Tune in to Carew Weyr to find out the answers to these questions and any others you may have. ~Current Events~~The Turnover celebration is still in progress. ~Amber Talaith has laid her clutch of 12 including a coveted amber egg. Her twin, Sialaeth has also clutched, producing 9 eggs including a gold! ~For the first time ever there will be both a gold egg and an amber egg on the sands at the same time. The hatching will start November 12, 2010 so get your candidates submitted for a chance at impression. ~At Carew we allow our members to indicate preferences for impression. Are you crazy over non-canons? Tell us. Do you want anything but green? Put it on your sheet. Do you prefer metallic? Make a note of it. All of our hatchlings are created especially for the candidate they impress to.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. I saw the NS on Thursday and he indeed confirmed the need for surgery. I'm going to get a second opinion from an Orthopedic surgeon to be on the safe side though... The actual surgery will have to wait on either me qualifying for Medical aid, or my lawyer making arrangements with the surgeon to delay payment until my legal case settles, which won't be for at least six months after surgery. I'm sorry for my inactivity, but I'm finding my pain level which had lessened has increased to where its hard to keep up with more than one Weyr. I don't want to leave as I think this Weyr has a ton of potential, but I also don't want to leave people hanging in RPs. So I'm not sure what to do right now...

Aidaen had entered the great hall morosely, his head down and his step heavy. He felt sure that this would be his last good meal so he was determined to get as much of it as he could hold. He had even brought a rough linen sack to squirrel away as much bread and meatrolls as he could. He had an excuse all ready should someone notice and question his appropriating of the food. He simply would say that he was taking the bread and meatrolls to a couple of rejected candidates who didn't feel up to the feast. In a way it was true. *He* had been rejected and *he* really didn't feel up to the feast, even though he went.
Aidaen trudged down the line at the food tables, filling his plate with as much as it would hold, including a large hunk of bread and a handful of meatrolls. He helped himself to a glass of chilled fruit juice, glancing longingly at the wine, which was watched over by a serving woman. With an unhappy sigh he found a seat at the candidates' table, largely ignoring the entire happy crowd. After all, for him it wasn't a happy occasion...it marked his failure and his likely expulsion from the Weyr. He'd be sent back to his cot in disgrace and he would never be able to live it down.
After stowing the bread and meatrolls in the sack tied to his belt, Aidaen began tucking into the food left on his plate with little interest and no appetite, quite unusual for the lad. It was good, as everything at the Weyr had been since he came, but he couldn't even muster up enjoyment of it. He simply ate because he was certain he wouldn't be allowed to stay and full meals were too hard to come by to ignore.
Aidaen glanced up he heard the slosh of full skins hitting the table, catching Batavia's comments. His eyes widened as he focused on the full wineskins, amazed that she had been able to get them away from watchful eyes. Reflexively, he accepted the pouch that the girl passed him, only after he gripped it did her words make sense. "Thanks", he muttered, taking a big gulp and then passing it on.
"Where are ya gonna go when they kick ya out? Ah'm thinkin' I don't wanna go home so Ah'm gonna maybe go find a cave somewhere." Aidaen tossed out, trying to sound casual. He felt a strange sense of kinship with the older candidate...something he usually didn't feel with anyone, let alone one of his peers. But their shared rejection made him a bit less suspicious than he usually would be, trusting enough to share his secret plan. Unless that was the quickal going to his head already.

I just got hit with a brick today,.. not a literal one but figurative. I mentioned that I am dealing with a herniated disc in my neck due to a car accident in March.. Well at my follow up today the doctor has referred me to a neurosurgeon for a consult. My MRIs show significant problems which indicate a need for Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion..... in simple terms..neck surgery to remove and replace the injured disc in my neck.
So.. I'm reeling. I'll be around, but just wanted to explain if I am a bit spotty and lacking muse.

Aidaen felt his heart dropping to his feet as what seemed like dragon after dragon cracked their shell and walked by him without a second glance. Logically, he knew that there weren't that many dragonets, but emotionally he felt run through the wringer. A brief surge of hope filled him when the brown rushed towards him, but he kept on going and picked another, leaving him with a half outstretched hand and a half broken heart.
The teen glanced around, noting that there were still more candidates than eggs and dragonets but it was a close thing. Of course, that didn't change since they came in, but he could hope. Aidaen's eyes caught on that strange boy, the one who was even shorter and younger than he. The one whom he had heard others describe as a little off, because he talked to a firelizard only he could see.
Imagination was all well and good, but it was for babies and he wasn't a baby anymore. That boy couldn't be much younger than him since he knew the candidate age was minimum of twelve turns to stand at a hatching. With an inward snort, the lad turned back to the eggs.
Only to realize that there were only two unhatched eggs and that pale brown who didn't seem that interested in finding a mate from within the candidates. Aidaen started to worry, focusing for once on something other than himself. What if the brown didn't pick someone? Until he had come to the Weyr a sevenday ago, he didn't even think that was possible, but he had heard some riders discussing the lack of candidates and one had said that if a dragonet went between for lack of a suitable partner it would upset every dragon in the Weyr
Aidaen understood that. It was really sad when any baby animal died, and dragons...well they weren't quite human but they sure weren't animals either. With Threadfall and the lack of riders due to the killing illness at the other Weyr every dragonet was more precious than they were normally, which was very precious indeed.
And then the last two unhatched eggs split, spilling first a green, and then a rather ungainly blue onto the sands to join the brown. The green seemed very interested in her pale brown brother and soon set off towards the female candidates, leading the male dragon behind her. Aidaen furrowed his brows together in confusion. Did she think he should pick a girl? Brown dragons picked boys, the harper who instructed him had said. The boy thought hard whether anything had been mentioned about one picking a girl but couldn't remember so gave up with a shrug.
He kept his eyes on the brown, thinking how lovely it would be if it picked him. Shards, any of them would be just wonderful. Oh please please please... he thought wistfully. And for a moment it seemed like his wish might be granted. The brown dashed away from the girls, mauling two in the process and bumped hard into the male candidate two away from Aidaen, knocking him down. He was so sure the brown was coming for him that a goofy grin started on his face, only to be wiped completely away as that dragon too passed him by.
Before he could recover from the disappointment that the brown had chosen another, both the green and the last blue had found their lifemates and he was left standing on the sands, unwanted and forgotten. Aidaen's shoulders slumped as he realized that his fears had come to pass. He wasn't, after all, fit for a dragon. Even that boy who still had imaginary friends had proven better than he. No dragons had even glanced at him and surely if he was even remotely suitable one would have considered him.
Aidaen didn't even notice the Weyrwoman speaking. Instead he moped out of the hatching grounds, wending his solitary way around the new weyrling pairs with only a hint of an envious glance, struggling to hold back bitter tears as he headed back to the barracks.

"Ooooh!" A tiny squeal more appropriate for a girl than a young lad involuntarily escaped Aidaen's lips as the rocking Puntius egg was joined in spasmodic movement by two others. The boy's face, so usually sullen, was lit by an eager glow as he watched in awe. A hectic flush from the heat colored his fair skin and ran together with his riotous freckles, almost but not quite, obscuring them from view.
But just then a movement to the side drew Aidaen's attention from the rocking eggs back to the gold as she seemed to glower directly at him. Her teeth, nearly the size of his hands were visible and a menacing growl seemed to be aimed directly at him. He shook in fear. Now she had seen him and she knew he did not belong, that he was a trespasser near the precious eggs. He began to panic. She didn't want him here. It was all a mistake. The gold had seen into his heart and found him lacking.
He was going to be removed from the sands, just like the Candidate Master had threatened would happen if he broke a rule. The fearful boy paid no attention to the fact that he had not broken a rule. He simply was convinced that he had done something unthinkable, broken some Weyr taboo and now was to pay for his transgression.
Aidaen took a stumbling step backwards and then another, away from the rocking eggs. He half-turned, ready to bolt from the hatching grounds in disappointment and terror, sure that the gold would chase him out if he did not leave. All his deeply hidden hopes seemed to shatter and fall to the sands at his feet. A sob welled up in his throat and he tried to choke it back, knuckling at his eyes with a pair of grubby fists.
But just then, an egg that hadn't even been moving, the Pocilidae egg split cleanly in two pieces spilling its beautiful green occupant onto the hot sands. Aidaen couldn't help himself. He stopped in his tracks and stared at the hatchling for a moment, then couldn't help but notice the gold who was just a moment ago glowering at him, was now thrumming encouragement to the dragonet. So maybe he hadn't done anything wrong.
Aidaen stiffened his back with resolve. If he left, he would never know and would surely never be able to stand again. If the queen wanted him gone from the sands, well she could just remove him herself! Besides, there weren't so many candidates that they could afford to kick him out. He didn't know much but he knew enough to know that Weyrs preferred to have many more candidates than were needed. His chin shot out and he stood belligerently on the sands for a moment, before his shuffle from one foot to the other ruined his determined stance.
Staring straight at the little green, he focused hard on her trying to forget about the queen waiting nearby, wondering if the hatchling would even see him. And then she started moving...but not toward him. She quickly impressed on a girl with brown hair nearby and Aidaen turned his attention resolutely to the remaining eggs, hoping beyond hope that one would hatch out his lifemate.

It was late afternoon going into early evening and Aidaen was changing glows. It wasn't particulary hard, but it just took so much time. Chores, chores and more chores. Why was it that he just couldn't get away from chores? He had thought being a candidate for a dragon hatching would be different, somehow. He'd only been here about a sevenday but it was wash this, wash that, scrub this, scrub that, fetch this, carry that. It was almost as bad as back home but there were two...no three advantages to being here.
The first and in his mind the best advantage was the food. There was as much food as a growing boy could eat! There were second and even third helpings if he wanted them and no one to tell him he couldn't have more, or had to wait until everyone else ate their fill. There was fresh baked bread, dripping with jam for every meal. It was always fresh, never stale. And he got a thick slice, not the tiny end bit.
For lunch or dinner there was stew, loaded with tubers and meat, swimming in rich, thick broth. He had even had some generous slices of roasted herdbeast yesterday! Breakfast wasn't even disappointing. The cereal was finely sifted with not a single fleck of chaff or stone in it. And there was cream and sweetener to go with and fresh sliced redfruit to put on top! He wasn't permitted to drink wine, but the fruit juice and klah were all a boy could desire.
The lower caverns women even pushed more food on him. Not only regular meals but treats in between. He had even had a whole bubbly pie to himself earlier! They kept saying he was so skinny and needed fattening up. Already in just a sevenday he had lost a bit of the gauntness to his frame, taking him from near emaciation to simply as thin as a rail.
The second advantage was the fact that chores were done in groups. There was always help for a chore, and though he didn't trust the others, they didn't leave all of the chores for him to do alone. Really, if he was truthful with himself, the chores were not all that onerous. The most strenuous was kitchen duty, but the benefit to that was that he got to eat extra bits of food and the kitchen workers were always pressing some dainty or sweet on him. They weren't so bad as far as grown-ups went, though he was positively certain in his mind that they could change in a flash and be cruel and nasty.
And the third advantage which ranked right up there with the food was the lack of his older brother's presence. Aidaen fairly gloated with delight, knowing that Deanal was back at the cothold and he was here. He felt like dancing a jig knowing that it was he whom the dragonrider had taken away, not Dean. He just hoped that he would be allowed to stay if he didn't impress. He would even be a kitchen drudge if he could stay.
It would be simply too much to bear if he had to go back to the cothold in disgrace. He would never hear the end of it. No..he wouldn't go back. He'd run away first, though getting off of the island without a dragon would be a little tricky. Maybe he could take a boat..or stow away on a bigger vessel. He didn't think he could swim to the mainland and he didn't relish trying to live in the open forest with thread falling regularly.
Well, no sense worrying about that right now. Time enough to plan if he wasn't found fit for a dragon. He quaked a bit inside at that thought. How could he even dream of having a dragon of his very own? It must be some mistake that he was here. Not a single hatchling would even glance at him, he was positive. He barely knew his letters. What dragon would want such a dunce?
It was then that he became aware of a sound. At first it was almost subliminal, but then gradually it grew louder and more intense. And then he heard a voice in his head! It was the queen and it was time! Without another thought, he dropped the spent glows and dashed towards the Candidate Barracks, the instructions from the Candidate Master echoing through his head, all mixed up and running together. Change into your jewelry, don't wear your robe, take the firelizards with you, the candidate master will line up single file, don't stand near the eggs.. It was all a jumble in his head and none of it made sense!
Aidaen began panting with stress and anxiety before he even reached the barracks, sure that he would do something wrong. Reaching his bedspace, he grabbed at the white linen robe, marveling for a moment at its fineness. He had never owned something so fine before. It seemed almost blasphemy to pull the robe on over his ragged short pants and grimy tunic, but he did, remembering to step into his equally ragged sandals and lace them up with the frayed thongs.
The young boy joined the others, falling into step behind the last in line and followed them as the candidate master led them to the hatching grounds. At the edge of the burning hot sands, Aidaen hesitated. It seemed wrong to step closer to the eggs. He couldn't be here. He didn't belong. But move onto the sands he must as he was holding up the line and the candidates behind him began moving restlessly. Taking a deep breath he stepped forward, almost cowering and quaking in fear as he waited for someone to shout out that he was an impostor and must be removed.
But nothing happened. No one paid him the least bit of attention. No one protested his presence on the sands, least of all the hulking forms of the queen and the bronze nearby. They weren't the parents of this clutch, but they were the Weyrleaders' dragons none the less and were important. Dredging up the few manners his infrequent harper lessons had instilled in him, he performed a jerky bow towards the two before joining the others in a semi-circle around the eggs, shuffling from foot to foot as the heat of the sands surged upwards through the soles of his sandals.
His pale blue eyes were glued to the eight eggs spread out on the sands, darting from one shell to another, then stopping on the Puntius egg as it gave a convulsive shudder. He began to allow himself to hope.. Oh please...oh please let me impress. All of his hopes seemed focused on that moving egg as he strained forward, his heart in his throat as he awaited its hatching.

Player name: Lissasweyr Character name: Aidaen Are you alright with being left standing? Yes, perfectly fine. It increases the character development. Are you alright with your character being maimed/attacked? 1-5: 4. Broken bones, scars, whatever. He's a homely little guy anyway so scars wouldn't decrease his appeal. Are you alright with your character suffering emotional damage? Sure! I love to torture my charries or have them tortured for me.

Player: Name: Lissasweyr (Lissa) Are you 17+?: Yes Contact Information: AIM: Lissasweyr Email: melissande@comcast.net Past RP Experience: I've been roleplaying in several mediums since I was 18 which is far longer than I care to acknowledge. I've played pen and paper RPGs such as D&D, as well as online text based MUDs/MUSHs and of course forum based RP games. I am currently main admin and co-GM of two Pern Weyrs, though one is perpetually slow. I have moderated two others, and belonged to a handful more over the years.
Character: Name: Aidaen Age: 13 Gender: male Sexual Orientation: bisexual though he has yet to realize it Occupation: candidate Description:
Aidaen is slightly below average height for his age, standing at about 5 foot even, though his gangly arms and legs indicate he may shoot up with a later growth spurt. With his pale blond hair, light blue-grey eyes and fair complexion he appears quite washed out. The only thing saving him from being a complete ghost is the riotous sprinkling of freckles across his cheeks, nose, forehead and chin, which intensify rather dramatically under the rays of the sun. In warm climates and during the summer, if he doesn't take precautions (which he doesn't), the sun causes his nose and cheeks to burn and peel quite liberally.
Aidaen has a rather broad forehead and a pointed, pugnacious chin, suggesting perhaps a bit of a resolute nature. His ears are rather prominent and stick out like jar handles on the sides of his head, blatantly displayed by the drastically cropped nature of his hair. His pallid blue-grey eyes are oval in shape and are framed by sandy blond eyelashes, near invisible due their washed out color.
Along with his skinny arms and legs, his torso is extremely thin, much more so than normal adolescent . If seen without a shirt the young lad's ribs are clearly delineated under his skin. This, combined with the rest of his build easily gives the impression of near emaciation which isn't too far from the truth.
Like most young boys Aidaen doesn't give a thought to his clothing, simply pulling on whatever clothes he first lays his hands on in the morning. Due to being the youngest child of a rather poor cotholder family, the clothes he owns are hand me downs from his older brothers, and are well worn by the time he gets them, with holes in the knees and elbows and ragged hems. They also tend to be quite unkempt and even dirty, as Aidaen doesn't pay much attention to cleanliness.
As one might expect, his person is often in the same state of disorder, with smudges on his cheeks and face, and dirty hands, arms, legs and feet that all too infrequently see a hot bath with plenty of soap. His knees, displayed through the rents in his pants or the ragged short pants he wears, are perpetually scabbed over and scarred from the repeated minor trauma of falls and missteps.
Personality:
Aidaen has a basically good heart, but is quite selfish and rarely bestirs himself to act on another's behalf unless it will benefit him in some way. Rather than being an integral part of his personality from birth, this is a result of his upbringing and will likely change as he learns that not everyone is as his family was. As a sort of defense mechanism, Aidaen has learned to be very self centered and self absorbed in order to protect himself.
Aidaen is nosy. He is always into everyone else's business and nothing suits him better than to be listening to idle gossip. However, rather than sharing his overheard "wisdom", he hoards it to himself, hoping to get a jump ahead of everyone else. After all, he never knows when he can use such tittle tattle to his own advantage.
Aidaen sometimes appears quite sullen and goes out of his way to avoid others as much as he can, especially his peers. He doesn't trust easily and is wary of others when they treat him well, as if waiting for them to turn around and heap some sort of abuse upon him. He is very suspicious of kindness and suspects that any kindness must have an ulterior motive.
Though he distrusts his peers, he also is extremely leery of those in authority over him. Aidaen doesn't understand the concept of benevolent leadership, raised as he was, so he believes that anyone in charge must be a cruel taskmaster and expends much effort in making himself invisible to them.
History:
The youngest of 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls, A'den has always been the last to receive anything. He was the last to eat, the last to wear the hand-me-down clothing, and the last to get his parents' attention. Oftentimes by the time they noticed him, all they had the energy left to dole out was a sharp word or pointed slap. Not that they were intentionally cruel, but they just didn't have much time for the youngest of their brood. In a sort of defense, A'den became very self centered. After all, if no one else would look out for him, then he had best do so himself.
His parents were a struggling pair of cotholders, rich in neither land nor marks, working hard to eek out a meager existence from the land granted them by their Lord Holder. The work worn couple already had enough children when Aidaen came along. They had their heir and a spare, as well as two daughters to marry off to strengthen bonds with other holders. They did not need another mouth to feed, but got one anyway.
Rather than spend time and energy they didn't have, Aidaen was shuffled to the back of the pack and left to his own devices. As long as he did his chores, he got a share of the food, though since he was the youngest it was often just a crust of bread or a bowl of thin broth or porridge that made its way into the hungry lad's mouth. After all, he was the smallest and capable of the least amount of work, so more food couldn't be spared from those who were working harder than he.
Though he didn't really get along well with any of his siblings, his relationship with his next older brother was the worst. They had a very pointed rivalry and often come to blows over some imagined (and sometimes real) slight one had given the other. Since Aidaen is 2 turns younger and quite smaller, he frequently came out on the losing end of these squabbles.
His parents turned a blind eye to these occurrences, preferring to let their children work it out on their own. As a result, Aidaen was frequently bullied and abused by Deanal, collecting bruises and cuts as the older boy picked fights over the smallest thing. It was not an easy life, but it was the only life the boy knew and he managed to find time for small pleasures such as a long walk in the forest near his house on the odd threadfall free day, splashing through the nearby ocean surf and combing the beach sands in search of the elusive firelizard clutch (but never finding any viable ones), wild redfruit plucked and devoured and the other myriad joys of childhood.
Because their hold was quite isolated, Aidaen didn't know much about the mysterious illness which began killing off those in Silver Cove Weyr, beyond the odd word that a rare visitor brought. He thought that it was sad that the beautiful dragons he saw flying through the air were dying, but being self absorbed as only young children can be, it didn't much affect his life until that fateful day.
One day when he was just barely thirteen turns old, something happened that would change the boy's life forever. A rider from the newly opened Cerulean Weyr appeared over their cot on a blue dragon, coming on Search. It was the first time the boy had seen a dragon up close, though he knew of them from the few harper lessons he had received from the journeyman assigned to travel the cotholds.
Though his brother tried to force him to stay away, the rider somehow knew he was closed in the beasthold (though Aidaen still doesn't know just *how* he knew) and brought him out to be examined by the dragon. And wonder of wonders, Aidaen was pronounced acceptable and spirited away to the Weyr to stand for the small clutch that was hardening on their sands.

~Aidaen is a packrat, keeping any little thing of value. ~Value is defined according to a thirteen turns old boy. ~Aidaen can wiggle his ears and used to cross his eyes, stick out his tongue and wiggle his ears at his next oldest sister because it would freak her out.

Description: Of average size overall, this blue has just the slightest amount of pudge on him. Though most of it will be worked off during training, he'll always have a bit of fluff on him. A soft shade of blue plays over his hide without much variation, but the color itself is the soothing blue of a clear spring sky. Very slight lightening will occur around his eyes and extremities, growing both lighter and into larger, more smoothly blended patches with age. His wings are slightly larger than average, but not too noticeably so. The small advantage granted him by this will nicely balance the loss of agility due to his slightly heftier form - when he actually chooses to take advantage of it.
Despite the fact that he will easily have the musculature to hold himself with every bit of regality as a bronze...he won’t. Being the epitome of a lazy dragon, he is quite content to drag his feet and wingtips (moreso if the surface is soft, like water or soft sand, than if it’s scratchy, like rough stone) and lean against anything available while upright (be it walls or other dragons). Due to this, he will develop quite a thick hide, much more resilient than others against scratches, cuts, and burns.
Surprising to many, this normally slow-moving dragon is actually disconcertingly fast. In carrying out his pranks (or running away from those chasing him because of them) is when he will usually put this ability to use. Only rarely will he use it during Threadfall, preferring to be more thorough than faster; mainly when he needs to get out of the way quickly. Due to his excellent concentration, he will be able to slip between and back much quicker than most, even so far as needing very little lift from the ground before the shift. Due to both this and his thicker hide, he will still accrue his fair share of youth and battle scars, but likely to a lesser degree than others.
His headknobs are shorter and more rounded than some others, but have the effect of making him look forever younger than his fellows. Not exactly a handsome dragon - though by no means unattractive - he is instead evermore cursed with a sort of boyish cuteness to his features.
Personality: Skeith is a blue with a mind for one thing: sleep. Well, two things: sleep and food. Oh, and tricks. Can’t forget the tricky streak inside that innocent blue hide.
In reality, he’s rather lazy. If Skeith can get someone else to do something for him, he will, and he’s got quite a clever mind for thinking up ways of getting out of doing things. The sheer absence of will observed when he hatched will lessen to a general dislike for hard activities assigned to him by another, though he’s quite willing to work and move for himself and his own wants. And when he does choose to put his mind to a task, he generally accomplishes it with single-minded alacrity. If he doesn’t get bored. Or frustrated - which would contribute to the possible procrastination on or abandonment of the task. He’s not quite so grudging for things asked by his bonded, but his snarky side will definitely surface as his quick wit belies his slow actions.
He will occasionally use a nastier turn of phrase at a choice time, but never to his bonded; it’s more often to someone who has disturbed him from a delightful nap or requested his presence posthaste. The quickest way into his heart, however short you may stay there, is through a nice treat. Plying this blue with food will keep you in his good graces, and that’s quite where you want to be. He has a bad habit of corralling the Weyr’s firelizards to help him with a vast assortment of tricks against those he’s got temporary vendettas against. If nothing else, Skeith doesn’t tend to keep himself angry or upset for long, particularly at people. It’s just too much work to be angry at someone. Or to remember who he was angry at. He typically lets things go after a short while or a good trick in recompense, but expect something horrid in your bed if you mess with His. Don’t even ask how he got it into the inner parts of the Weyr; he won’t tell you. And if he happens to look particularly smug while lounging...you might want to steer clear until you hear the shouts or screams likely to result from whatever prank he’s pulled.
Though snarky and lazy to a fault, Skeith really is a loving dragon at heart. Well, at least to his rider. He doesn’t really care one way or another about most other humans unless His takes a particular interest in a person. Keeping track of more than a few twolegs at once is too troublesome. Regardless of his feelings, though, he would protect every being in his Weyr with the same fervor as any other dragon.
Fun Facts: - When presented with a task that he knows he will have to complete, it is not uncommon for him to sigh long-sufferingly, note how troublesome said task is, and trudge off - looking the picture of reluctance. Mumbling and grumbling to either his bonded, his taskmaster, or the small general area is quite common as well. - Skeith has a love for food even above and beyond that of other dragons. It will be difficult to keep him from overeating, even after Weyrlinghood.
