Over 100,000 years have passed since Witch has walked the Realms. And in that time the Blood, even the long-lived Blood, have begun to forget what it means to be truly Blood. There are those who remember what it means to honor the Darkness, but they are minority. It is the majority who rules and who makes a mockery of everything that the Blood stand for. They no longer dance for the glory of Witch at Winsol. They only dance to the tune of their ambitions, greed and pleasures. It is becoming more and more common to see a blood-red flower with black throats and black-tipped petals bloom throughout the Realms. Witchblood, as beautiful and indestructible as it is deadly that blooms from the first breath of spring to the last dying day of autumn. The roots of this plant are nourished by the blood of she who died to give it life and the roots grow so deep that they reach the Dark Realm. Or so the legend goes. Whatever is truth or not, one hard truth is more of it is growing. Some ignore the witchblood, only thinking that it is a sign that there are murders at work. But some Sisters of the Hourglass are whispering differently. The witchblood is not just a sign of life being stolen. It's a sign that the Blood have lost the favor of the Darkness and Witch. It is only a matter of time before it finally comes to the point when the Blood Price is called.

Relian was on his way to the kitchens to get food when he heard the question. He saw the Candidate a moment later. He knew if his foster sister had been there, she'd have not known who it was, because she was still being a dimglow about being a Candidate, but Relian was very careful yo notice and note who all the new Candidates were, and was trying to memorize the dragons riders and their dragons. Synchella still hadn't memorized the Weyr' layout, and she'd been there longer than he had! She said it made it more fun to look for places instead of always knowing where they were.
He reminded himself she was 'artisticly' minded, but as much as he cared for her, he was beginning to feel 'artistic' was becoming 'stupid'. Maybe he was just grumpy she hadn't really spent much time with him since he'd arrived, she'd been so busy exploring and sketching everything.
Smiling at the new Candidate, he nodded to him. This was...Elric. He'd heard the other Candidates name mentioned just an hour past, the newest Candidate, he'd just arrived at the Weyr. Was he lost? Relian liked helping others, and had no problem helping the other male Candidate find...whatever he was looking for.
"I'm Relian. Did you need help with something?" He asked affably.
It would be fun to look for something without having a chore at the end of the 'adventure'.

Synchella was delighted to be outside the Weyr for dockwork. The only negative was that she couldn't draw...but she could memorize that way things looked, and she'd tucked her sketchbook in a bag strapped over her back to sketch when she was finished. She'd noted that she would be working with Weyrlings. She loved working with dragon riders, she needed to make more dragon rider friends so she could sketch their dragons. It was something she loved even more than just drawing dragons, was drawing them with their dragon riders...Danyan was spiraling in the air happily, singing some tidbit of a song she was humming along with almost absentmindedly.
Something caught the brown's eye and with an excited whirl of colors that flashed over his gaze, he disappeared between. Synchella sighed at that. Most likely, he'd just caught sight of a shell. She had SO many of the flitters catch of shells now...
Enjoying the cool breeze, she was almost on top of the two who'd arrived before her before she noticed them. Smiling broadly, she waved at them briefly, looking around for her net to mend.
"Hiya! I'm Synchella, just chosen as Candidate recently. I have no idea what I'm doing really, I've never done this before," she cheerfully announced. "But it sure if pretty out here..." it was a strange random comment to make in the middle of a sentence.
As if returning to her previous train of thought she turned back to the two.
"It's nice to meet you! My brown fire lizard Danyan may pop in and out with shells, but he won't bother," she concluded.
She hated sending her little friend away for being pestlike, but he would just find a dragon to befriend if she did. She sincerely hoped she Impressed...she'd have her own dragon to draw, and Danyan would be able to curl up beside a dragon without fear of being snapped at. At least she assumed they'd be friends...

"Not a terribly long time-" she began, and was interrupted when her brown fire lizard popped into the air above her and a small shell landed on the table next to her.
Danyan immediately landed on her shoulder, his brown speckle shaded tail wrapped around her neck and his head bumped affectionately into the bottom of her head and flickering images filled her head of where the darling had found the pretty multi shaded shell and how he'd seen another fire lizard there, and how the waves had crashed. Smiling, she picked up the shell and noted the pretty opal like quality underneath...though she did had..so many shells already. Scratching his head, she quickly cut a small piece of meat for her darling friend and he snatched it delicately, clearly ignoring the male who wasn't to be trusted yet.
"This is Danyan. He's excited he found me a shell," she explained with a smile. Had she been talking about something?
Oh right!
"Yes, well I haven't been here very long at all, but I've been trying to draw as much as possible. I really hope to Impress but even if I don't this is the perfect place to draw! Dragons everywhere, and riders. Danyan loves the dragons too," she included, taking a bite of food for herself before cutting another piece for Danyan who was crooning small snippets of song to himself.

DAILLE WEYR After AVIAS was discovered, the people of Pern lapsed into a time of peace. Effort was now put into sciences and technology, rather than fighting thread. All seemed well. A serum was made to decrease the chances of dud eggs, but it also increased the chances of a white mutation and brought in a couple other rare mutations. A brilliant mathematician, Leron, found a problem with AVIAS's math. A slight error, really. Leron brought this information to the public. Thread would not be the same. The new path of the Red Star brought the planet just close enough to rain the menace on humans for only twenty years. However, threadfall was now unpredictable. Many cowered in fear, and blamed AVIAS. AVIAS corrected his error, and came up with a new solution, but no one trusted him. An angry group of people destroyed AVIAS, in fact, as well as whatever technology they could find. They confiscated it in violent ways, causing a time of fear. The chaos dropped in less than a year. People tried to adjust to the idea of thread falling again. Few changes happened to the structure of Pernese life, and most of the changes regarded only medicine. A couple years later, everything settled down, at least for the time being. Daille Weyr was established during that time of peace. Dragons were plentiful, with many queens at each Weyr. A young queen had her maiden flight. Daille, her rider, was selected to bring the pregnant queen down to the new Weyr along with bronze Nith and his rider. Nith was a small bronze, but continued to win Gold Rysnoth due to the tie between the two dragons. He never sired a gold egg, or a large clutch. One time, Rysnoth was caught by a different bronze. Her clutch held the first queen she had laid, along with a huge clutch. Unfortunately, Gold Lisinath and Rollina disappeared between. The gold weyrling's death caused several reactions. The first was in the Weyr. A group got together, determined to keep Daille Weyr alive, no matter the cost. They hid themselves, but were ready to oppose anything that stood in their Weyr's way. They began plotting against their first issue: Nith. He was a threat to Daille's existence, and he must be eliminated. The second problem was in the other Weyrs. Every Weyr looked down on the newer Weyr. Daille riders were treated with contempt. The Weyr would die out, and the proud riders would soon be begging to join other Weyrs. Benden Weyr had become the most arrogant Weyr. Proud of Lessa's accomplishments, the riders became pompous. The final problem was with the surrounding holds. Daille Hold remained loyal, of course, as it had been established after the Weyr. Black Sea Hold, however, began to tithe to Benden Weyr, as that one Weyr promised to protect them when Daille failed. As a result, tithes were limited. Although Daille Weyr could search at Black Sea Hold--it was in their rights, after all--they were always treated with contempt and anger. Rysnoth showed signs of rising, likely for the last time. A group against Nith and his "inferiority" injured the dragon's wings before her flight. Rysnoth was caught by a different bronze for the second time. She once again clutched a queen. Seranoth Impressed to Sari. Rysnoth went between soon after. Others became aware of the group within the Weyr after Rysnoth's death. Members of the group became known, and were banished from the Weyr for injuring Nith. Some sources were still in the Weyr. There is no telling what the Group would do next. ================================ Needed Lord Holders for Daille Hold and Black Sea Hold Riders Candidates Crafters Holders Weyrfolk Available Riders:1 Violetrider/Weyrleader~Received in contest 1 Bronzerider/Wingleader 1 Bronzerider4 BrownridersUnlimited BlueridersUnlimited Greenriders1 Whiterider (M)~Received in contest 1 Candidate Master (Any color)~ Other: Unlimited Candidates Journeymen Crafters (for Weyr unless you prefer otherwise) Weyrfolk/HeadwomanHandlers:1 Goldhandler~Received in contest 2 Bronzehandlers3 Brownhandlers5 Bluehandlers5 Greenhandlers1 Slatehandler~Received in contest 1 Wherlingmaster of any color~ Fire Lizards: 1 Gold~Received in contest 1 Onyx~Received in contest 1 Ametrine~Received in contest 2 Bronze2 Brown3 Blue4 Green Upcoming There is soon to be a clutch of 19 Eggs that will be gracing the sands soon. Relian sighed as he dusted off more of the books, and set them to the side on the correct piles. Soon, another Candidate or Weyrling should join him. He wished, somewhat with a futile annoyance, that that person would be Synchella. But Synchella had gotten here first, and her duties were often with other Weyrlings or Candidates. He didn't mind working with other people. It was actually relaxing, not having to look out for his foster sister. Feeling intense guilt for such an unkind thought, he tried to concentrate more on dusting.
He loved his foster sister, but he had been looking out for her a very long time. He'd also just...settled his life path along side her. And now that he was here...alongside her once more...
Well if he was chosen, wouldn't that just change everything? He had a deep respect for the dragonriders of Pern. Their task was not easy, and it seemed he suddenly felt more important than he had in his entire life. He wasn't just going to become a Painter, he was possibly going to Impress. It had surprised him, shocked him when Syn had been chosen to stand. How could she? She was so flighty, so...everywhere. She'd been elevated so far beyond him, all of a sudden, to a place he could not go to protect her.
He carefully steadied a stack when it wavered. Too high. Carefully, he rearranged the books in front of him. Soon he'd have to take them to the shelves and organize them there, then come back to dusting.
Now he was chosen. It was a huge honor. It disturbed him Synchella's attitude hadn't seemed to change at all. Didn't she know she couldn't be an artist anymore? That their lives were different now? She had to be serious! She had to TAKE things seriously, and not just...smile off everything. He set a book down a bit too hard and had to jump up to steady the pile. He didn't want them tumbling from the table he was setting them on...he looked down at the huge box, filled with more. And beyond that another, and another...and so on.

Smiling, she didn't let herself get too taken aback when the sketchbook wasn't placed immediately back in her possession. After all, the person to pick it up had chosen to sit across from her, so it wasn't like it had gone far. Reclaiming her seat, she took a piece of her bread and quickly began eating it while the nosy dragonrider looked through her book. At least her stomach would be happier with her, she thought.
"Thank you for picking that up for me. I'm Synchella. A Candidate. Nice to meet you both," she replied, nodding politely to the blue firelizard.
Taking her fork, she popped a piece of dry meat into her mouth quickly. Her stomach definitely approved. So she could thank the young rider for that as well, she thought. His blue was carried in his bag? She peered over at the bag. What an interesting thing to draw! And he had a dragon...her eyes lit up with inspiration, but she forced herself to be polite. She was here, as her foster brother loved reminding her, to Impress, not to bother everyone about letting her sketch them.
"I was an Apprentice Painter before I was chosen. I learned mostly though by drawing everything." she shoved more food in her mouth, swallowing quickly before continuing. She wished she hadn't dropped her Klah...
"I love drawing dragons especially, thats how I was found."
She wondered, sometimes, watching the riders, what they were before. Craftsmen and Holders, anyone could be a rider. It was such an interesting mesh of things...and watching people, as she sketched them, sometimes she liked to guess. Like this person, F'ren. Arrogant a bit, maybe confident. Rider of a bronze. Her mind wandered about as she ate.

Synchella was sitting in the eating area, sketching people as they ate. Her eyes were wide and a bit bloodshot, she'd woken up very early to go exploring, and was now sketching in lieu of eating her much needed meal. If her foster brother had been there, he'd have scolded her. She smiled quietly to herself. He wasn't, so she could just sketch to her hearts delight.
She was actually sketching other Candidates eating. A dragonrider was eating like tomorrow might require him to use all the energy his food was gifting him, but only if he ingested it within a certain time frame. Smiling to herself at the thought, she watched with interest the other flitters attached to several of the Weyr folk. She sketched them being fed by their human companions. What she really enjoyed was trying to capture the look dragon riders got in their eyes when they were speaking with their dragons. It was a momentary glaze of distraction, but also of adoration at hearing the dragons. At least, thats what she fancied she caught in their eyes.
She paused, considering her growling stomach. Nibbling on a piece of bread for a moment, then sipping her klah, she determined herself nourished enough for the time being. She could eat like a dragon herself when she was truly hungry, but she was too exited about sketching today to eat. Maybe she could sneak more from the kitchens later? She hoped so...moving to take her pencil back in hand, she tipped her klah over and yelped as the liquid moved towards her sketchbook. She quickly grabbed the book and placed it at the end of the table, wiping the klah up. Sighing, a small distracted smile in place she reached for her sketchbook and knocked it on the ground.
Giving a heavy sigh at her ineptitude, she scooted back and then stood to take the fallen papers back up when someone else stopped before her and picked them up in her stead.

Player: Name: Meadow Are you 17+?: yes Contact Information: AIM: Email: ravensh3art@gmail.com Past RP Experience: about a year, a newb at pern rps though
Character: Name: Relian Age: 18 Gender: M Sexual Orientation: Het. Occupation: Candidate Description: Rel has light brown hair, almost a mousy brown color worn short, and dark brown eyes. His skin is usually fairly tanned, though sometimes he burns in the sun. He has a smaller build, more wiry than muscular. His voice is low and serious. He usually wears utilitarian clothing, grays and browns make up most of his wardrobe. Personality: Relian is a pretty quite guy, but knows how to join in a conversation. A bit over protective of his foster sister Synchella, he would step in before others could tease her. He doesn't like confrontation, but realizes when its inevitable, and isn't afraid to step in when its necessary. he almost never raises his voice, preferring to talk in soft even tones if others are upset. He is very open minded, and always gives people the benefit of the doubt, though, unlike Synchella, he doesn't always believe they are good, he just thinks there is the possibility they aren't as bad as initial reaction would have him believe. Is extremely responsible, and tries to stay on the right side of right and wrong. History: He was born in Southern Bole Hold, a child of one of the cousins of a Holder. He took to Synchella when she was first introduced to the Hold, watching her sketch with interest, and genuinely interested in her strange observations about the world around her. Her withdrawn behavior made him a bit protective of her, and the others weren't allowed to tease her without him getting upset with them. Since he was fairly well liked, mostly Synchella was left alone because of his intervention.
When she went to the Painters Hall, he asked to go as well. She'd shown him some of the rudimentary parts of how she created the scenes she saw, and he was interested in learning more. Beside which, he was worried about her going on her own. Happy when she blossomed at the Painters Hall, he found his own path in painting. He wasn't quite as creative as she was, but he loved colors, and so they often combined their efforts in order to create better art together.
He was surprised, and scared when she left, though he didn't show it. He didn't want to ruin her moment, and knew how she loved dragonkind. He worried for her on her own there, however, and started wishing he could be chosen as well. When next a rider came by on Search, he managed to get chosen, to his delight. Going to Cerulean Hold, he was glad Synchella was doing so well, and nervous about his own future for the first time. He liked the dragons well enough, but had never imagined in his life he'd become a rider.
He dealt with uncertainty by working as hard as he could around the Weyr. A little annoyed Synchella was still blissfully immersed in her artwork, as if nothing had changed for them, he worries for her more than himself still. Fun Facts: -He loves rain -He has three half brothers, two brothers and three sisters, as well as an assortment of cousins. -He prefers women who are orderly and in control of their life

Player: Name: Meadow Are you 17+?: yep Contact Information: AIM: (Yahoo) Miagamergrl@yahoo.com (MSN) ravensh3art@hotmail.com Email: ravensh3art@gmail.com Past RP Experience: about a year overall, on other sites, a newb at Pern Rp ^_^
Character: Name: Synchella Age: 17 Gender: F Sexual Orientation: bisexual Occupation: Candidate Description: She has brown hair that reaches a couple of inches past her shoulders, with highlights of auburn in it, large brown eyes and a pale skin that freckles easily. She is slightly curvy, with a light chipper voice and usually a smile on her face. When she walks, its with spunk, and sometimes it almost seems like she's dancing about when she's happy and walking. She stands at 5'4. Personality: Synchella loves drawing, and she mostly likes drawing creatures and plants. She is always running off to find something 'interesting' to draw, and can sit in silence just looking at things for long periods of time to memorize them. Nature and outdoors are where she feels most at home, and she resents that Thread makes her stay inside even during just the time it falls. Being near the dragons has made her extremely happy as they are by far her favorite thing to draw.
She can be rude, phasing out at times and following her own tangent. She'll try weird random things, and no dare is too small for her. It isn't pride that makes her take dares, but honest curiosity. She tends to sit quietly amongst people and watch them, sketching them or memorizing scenes to sketch later. She likes seeing new places, because that is a new background to draw. She has very little temper, and when it does show itself, she is usually just taken aback, and then tries to reason with whomever offended her. When she's sad she keeps to herself and draws out her feelings.
When she talks she tends to wander into random tangents, and make unique and sometimes strange observations about those around her.
History: When Synchella was young, it took her a long time to start socializing with others. Her parents were worried, and fostered her to a woman with a lot of children, hoping she'd socialize easier surrounded by others. She was at Southern Bole Hold until she was seven, when her obvious love for sketching random things had her Foster Mother send her to the Painters Hall. Here she didn't feel weird, or ostracized for hiding in the corner and watching and drawing rather than talking.
She could talk though, and one of her foster brothers, who went to the Painters Hall with her, stayed her friend throughout her childhood. He wasn't as excited about art, but he was very good at painting out the sketches of others. Since Syn liked sketching more, often she would go out and sketch, and he would paint over her sketches while she went to gather more sketches.
When she was 14 she Impressed a fire lizard, and her little friend helped her find 'interesting' things to draw, as well as preening as she deigned often to include the flitter in her artwork.
She had just turned 17 when a blue rider came to the Hall for a request. Synchella, ecstatic at the thought of drawing a dragon, rushed over without asking first and sketched the dragon over and over until the rider came out. After speaking with her for awhile, and as his blue agreed with him, the rider thought she'd make good at a Hatching, and brought her to Cerulean Weyr as a Candidate.
Synchella was surprised, but excited about doing something new and, thought sad about leaving one of the only friends (her brother) she's always been around, she soon became enamored with drawing, sketching and painting the dragons whenever she could scratch out some spare time. Fun Facts:
-She loves sweets, and can eat more than should be possible considering her size. -She loves jumping off of high places into water. -The only thing that makes her uneasy is darkness. -She can't sing at ALL.
Bonded Critter(s): Type: Fire lizard Name: Danyan Color: Brown -Wheat and rust speckled Age: Description: This brown is quite interesting in color. The majority of his hide is pale wheat, and would almost hearken to a goldish hue if not for the splotches and splatters of rust brown all over him. The much darker reddish hue covers nearly half of his hide in a haphazard yet evenly distributed way, most notably giving his muzzle and face a two-tone appearance as one half is wheat while the other is rust. Peppered into the thickest parts of the rust color, green flecks pick their way here and there, only barely noticeable except under good light where they shine rather vibrantly in an emerald hue.
Long and lean, he is average sized for a brown, with a long supple tail that is fairly flexible, and longer than average claws that make it easy for him to land and hold onto a perch, whether it’s his bonded’s head or the saddle of a dragon. His headknobs are short-ish, while his muzzle is long and tapered, and his eyes seem only a little too large for his narrow face. Coupled with the two-face look of his coloring, his large eyes seem at once both expressive and comical, and can often be found whirling with multiple hues as he makes decisions or thinks on something particularly interesting.
Personality: Exceptionally clever for a firelizard, this brown is a thinker, and will very adept at learning how to fetch things for his bonded and deliver messages. He doesn’t initially like many two legs other than his bonded, but he is easily swayed by treats and attention. He loves his draconic cousins, and if shooed away from his bonded, will often find a nice green of whatever species to cozy up to in his melodic, trilling voice. He loves to sing, and will often be warbling to himself and his bonded, especially if she hums a tune he can join in with. Because of his cleverness, he’s always active trying to figure out new things or sate his curiosity about one thing or another, sometimes getting him into awkward situations. He truly enjoys relaying whatever information he found back to his bonded, who might find herself with sudden mental images of nearly anything; from the moooost interesting shell he’d found that day, to the reason why some unusual noises were coming from behind a closed door.
Very adept at understanding the things Hispet requests of him, he is capable of sitting still for short periods of time at her behest, but he loves nothing more than cuddling up to her, his favorite of favorites among his possible female posse. He does love the gals, and will be a happy chaser. Too good natured to let a failed chase get him down, he enjoys the Flight as much as the catch, and if he loses, well, there’s always Hispet! He’ll often twirl through the air to make her happy and release extra frustration, daring himself to difficult aerial maneuvers.
Fun Facts: -He knows very small pieces and parts of many different songs by heart, and will string them together to make his own music when bored. -He loves the ocean, and Hispet may find it difficult to make space for all the trinkets and shells he brings home from his excursions.
Candidates: Dragon, Wher, or both: Dragon Color Preference: Any Rider's Shortened Name: Think girls stay the same.. General Info: She's really laid back about most things, but when she finds something she loves, she lavishes it with affection. RP Search: No
Craftskills: Craft: Artist Level of Proficiency: Apprentice Specialty: Sketching (Dragons, botany, animals) Weakness: She is a bit socially awkward. She also often rushes her painting, because she gets bored and would rather be sketching than continuing with an old picture.
