Player: Name: Parallel Are you 17+?: yep
Character: Name: Jordan Age: 23 Gender: Male Sexual Orientation: Straight as a board Occupation: Wherhandler Description: Standing at just under 6ft Jordan isn't very tall for a man his age, however years of working on boats with his father and with herdbeasts in the field have broadened his shoulders and widened his chest. His darkened skin is attributed to longs days in the open air and his arms are taught with muscle from working continuos hours.
Jordan's light brown hair is short, but floppy, falling gentley around his temples and softening his overall unpolished appearance. His eyes, sitting beneath a deep set brow, are his major weakness. He prefers not to talk about it, but he's farsighted. He can't can't focus properly on objects around him, they appear a little blurry to him. It's not so extreme that he can't get by, but it did cost him his apprenticeship in the BeastCraft Hall. Since bonding with his patner Jorsk he has been able to use the Wher's innate sense of location to help him in his now nocturnal lifestyle. He is rarely seen out of Jorsk's company because of this.
With his Wher beside him he has a confident but casual walk, but when he is by himself he is less sure of himself often walking much slower.
A quiet smile is never far from his lips, even if no one can see where it's come from.
But jordan is far from handsome in many women's eyes as his course features and stature are not desirable in a mate, and when you compliment that with his poor vision and his sleeping habits he hasn't had much luck with the opposite gender.
Personality: Jordan's physical appearance has never affected his demeanor in any way however. He has a quiet, capable manner. He doesn't get stressed or upset easily, he has a very calm personality, taking things in his stride and dealing with situations one at a time.
Only his poor vision has ever knocked his self-confidence. He is ashamed of it because there is nothing he can do. But since bonding with his Wher, he has gradually accepted this part of himself. Jorsk has been a great comfort to him, encouraging him to be more outgoing and less reserved than before.
Though he has an amiable personality it's hard to see at first because he tends not to say much, not feeling the need to, in the beginning. But after some time in his company you can see his humour and good nature shine through. He's always willing to give someone a helping hand, always trying to put his strength to use.
History: Born and bred in Keroon Jordan spent much of his childhood helping his father on his boat. His father was a fisherman through and through so when Jordan decided to apprentice at the BeastCraft Hall his father hid his dissapointment. Jordan never knew his mother as she had died in childbirth, but his father often told him that she had fair skin and an even fairer voice.
He had done well in his new craft for the first few years, but when his eyesight started infringing on his work he was forced to leave the Hall. He reverted back to working with his father, but old Bared could see his son wasn't happy. Knowing a young man who in turn knew a WherHandler in a town neary he organised it so that Jordan would be considered for Impression.
From the moment Jordan was bonded with his brown he was a new man. He never lost his hardworking charcater, he just learned how to be more confident and open with other people.
After 4 Turns working with his partner as a watchwher a young woman named Kestrel appeared in Keroon. Jorsk took an immediate liking to her for reasons Jordan couldn't fully comprehend in the beginning, but after some time together and travelling, he grew quite fond of her. He didn't have any silings, and Kestel fitted nicely into the postion of younger sister.
Fun Facts: He takes pride in physical labour and enjoys listening to others.
Bonded Critter(s): Type: Wher Name: Jorsk Color: Brown Age: 4
Telekinetic Rating: 31 Bonuses/Minuses: (Base Roll 33) + (Brown -2) Specialization: Endurance Breakdown Strength: ? Precision: ? Endurance: ? Concentration: ?
Description: With a stocky build and a strong frame, this wher is very earthy in both his appearence and his personality. His broad slab of a head and his thick set neck sit squarely on a well muscled chest. His hind legs are powerful, affording him great speed when he runs and an amzing range when jumping. His chest is quite low as his legs aren't as long as some of his breed, but he seems more comfortable closer to the ground regardless.
His hide is almost uniform in colour. A dark mud brown that seems to absorb the light instead of reflecting it. He does have a few caramel flecks on his lower legs however.
His wings are short and practically useless, but that's never really bothered him as he has better skills in scaling rocks and running for long periods of time.
Personality: Jorsk compliments Jordan very well. He is Jordan's rock, so to speak. He has a rich earthy personality that allows him to feel at ease around others, both human and draconic. He often pushes Jordan to be more open with people, to make more friends.
Jorsk himself is quite a solid character, like his bonded. He is sure of himself and doesn't feel the need to show off to anyone. He is comfortable with who he is and wants to share it with others. Not feeling the need to fret or fuss about anything either he enjoys learning new things, absorbing information and meeting new people.
He has an open, friendly manner about him, very approachable for a wher.
Fun Facts:He enjoys physical activities like running and climbing.
Craftskills: Craft: BeastCraft Level of Proficiency: Journeyman Specialty: Physical Labour Weakness: His sight

Thanks Mango! You do? Well at least I wouldn't be on my own then! Ye, I wasn't very sure what to do with him now that Kestrel has her new Weyr to live in. But I'll get started on a profile sketch for him now and add him as soon as I'm done! How many Wher's are there anyway do you know? I love them too! But I haven't a clue how you would rp one! Would be fun to try Maybe it's just me, but that all sounded very confusing... I'm going to have to get my head around that!

As I've never rped before this is all still pretty new to me so I was just wondering if anyone could lemme know what they think about this: My new (and only) character is Kestrel. She is currently being Searched by Mango's U'ar of Brown Odyth. But she arrived at Silver Cove Hold with Jordan and his bonded Brown Wher Jorsk. I haven't described either of them in very much detail but Kestrel is quite attached to both of them. I mentioned in her history that she paired up with them to travel across to the Southern Continent because Jordan was looking for a WherHold to make his home in. Now that Kestrel will be going to the Weyr I'm not sure what to do with him.. I was just wondering whether or not I should bring him in as a new character altogether and rp him too, or should I phase him out by saying he moved on in his search? Is there a place here for him to stay with his Wher? Would he be good to keep around? Is there much Wher activity? If he does go, is there a plausible place he could go to? Would it be ok if he came back at some point? I do like the idea I have of him and his Wher in my head, but in all honesty I haven't padded his character out at all. I know there isn't much to go on in Kestrel's history about him, but if anyone could let me know what they think that would be great

( thank you! No doubt I'll have lots of questions soon! ) The slight breeze that had a few moments go given Kestrel such a good feeling now picked up and tossed her overgrown hair. Running her hand through it she muttered to herself. She had better cut it again soon, it was nearly a finger's length now, much too long in her opinion. She liked it cropped short and out of the way so she didn't have to deal with it. Glancing around she wondered if anyone here would be able to sort it out for her cheaply enough. Jordan was a great traveling companion, but he definitely didn't have any skills in cutting a girl's hair, especially in the dark! Suddenly Kestrel became aware that she wasn't as inconspicuous as she'd thought. She felt as if someone was watching her. Immediately on guard and suspicious she was careful not to make any quick movements to give away the fact that she knew someone was looking at her. She carried on walking, slowly, down the street, quietly searching for the intruder. Following the chill at the nape of her neck she glanced near the weaver's stall where a tall man with strong broad shoulders stood. She looked him up and down furtively. He was well built, older than herself and... He was a Dragonman. Kestrel was stunned. Though she had seen many a dragon and their rider flying in Wings above her, living near enough to Telgar Weyr when she was younger, never had she seen them up close. Kestrel's curiosity overcame her shock and she looked around. Where was his dragon? His voice rang out, waking her from her thoughts. He was calling to her. Kestrel was instantly fearful. Had she done something wrong? Dragonriders didn't usually speak to common folk did they? She became very unsure of herself and had such an urge to run. But then, she thought, what would be the point? He had a dragon! Her mind was now wracked with uncertainty, but before she could truly decide what to do he was upon her. She mustered all of her courage, her mask of confidence almost fitting right, she looked up at him. "Hello... Sir...", she managed before looking directly into his eyes. She was surprised, but relieved, to find that they were kind.

I know exactly how you feel. It's horrible to be in the situation where you really do have to be cruel to be kind. But hopefully he'll understand your reasons soon enough and will be glad of what you did. I understand how difficult it is to explain to someone that you still care, but just in a different way now. And with the whole situation it's the old plaster routine, rip it off quick or tear it off slowly? Quick in my opinion is always best.
I hope everything works out for you and that you'll feel better about it soon. x

I had a very similar problem year and a half ago, I broke up with my boyfriend of two years because I didn't feel the same for him anymore as he did for me. I needed a chance at being single for awhile, but instead of accepting that we were over and moving on he called, msned, emailed and text me non stop afterwards. As a matter of fact it took me a good week and several "breaking up" speeches to even convince him that we weren't together!
He kept saying that we could be "best friends" and at first I really did try to be nice about it. I tried comforting him and reassuring him that he was a good guy and would find someone better, but what I didn't realize at the time was that I was just giving him what he wanted - my attention. He would do anything to get it and finally I had to tell him not to contact me anymore. That sort of worked and after about 2months of having to ignore his calls he eventually stopped.
I was still very good friends with some of his mates and they told me that he'd started drinking heavily and was out every night "dancing" - which was very unlike him. They were keeping an eye out for him so Ii didn't have to worry about it. But then, after 3months of silence and my presumption that he'd gotten the message at last, he turned up on my doorstep. He told me he'd done what I'd asked and sorted out his priorities, that he'd finally realized how much he loved me and that he was ready to give it another shot. I was in shock. I'd asked him to do the opposite, to get over me. He even had the nerve to apologize for sleeping with a few people when we were on our "break". He posted hateful messages and monologues about "our love" on Live Journal and was astounded that I wasn't telling him I loved him too.
I went back to his best mate and had a long talk with him because I was sick of hearing how desperate my ex was and how he was going down a bad road and it was all my fault... His mate gave me the best advice I could hope for. He said "just walk away, and don't look back". He said it wasn't my problem anymore, that I'd done everything I possibly could and that if I did anything else I would be playing right into my ex's hands.
Some guys just aren't worth it anymore, and though I don't know your ex, if he's anything like mine he will try and drag this on for as long as possible. But the best thing I think you can do is completely and utterly blank him. Change your number, avoid his local haunts and if he keeps coming back you'll have to consider going to the police. As for the pills, this is a desperate stunt and wouldn't be your fault whatsoever. I'm sure he has other friends and family, it's their responsibility to watch out for him, not yours, you should remove him from your life until he gets his act together or permanently if you wanted.
It's nearly two years on now from breaking up with my ex and only last month I found out he was trying to sabotage my business, followed by him ringing me to tell me he was over me and that soon we could start hanging out again. I just ignored it, along with everything else, it's all I can do. But it's the best thing too because if I gave him any encouragement at all he'd never leave me alone.
I know it sounds cruel, but really the best advice I can give is the advice I got, just cut him off completely because all he wants right now is your attention. If you're still worried though, talk to his friends or family and inform them about what's going on, it should put your mind more at ease.

It had been quite some time since Kestrel had wandered around a Hold on her own, but Jordan and Jorsk were sleeping off the long boat journey. Besides Kestrel had decided she wanted to see this new place in daylight first. So this was how she found herself walking down the narrow streets by herself. Nobody really paid her much attention, which suited her perfectly. The morning sunlight was more bright to her now after long weeks living nocturnally. She faced the sky and smiled, reveling in the freshness of the sea breeze. It was something she's only recently gotten used to. Having been raised near Telgar she had spent her youth inland, never knowing how beautiful the sea could be. But when she finally did see it, and indeed cross it, she felt she could never be apart from it! There was something freeing about, something she desired so much. Freedom and strength.
Kestrel frowned slightly. Inevitably her thoughts always seemed to lead her to her faults, what she lacked. She felt she didn't have as much strength in herself as she should. Quickly she looked around at the people who inhabited Silver Cove Hold hoping to immerse herself in observing their lives. But to her dismay her first glance took her to one of her most painful memories. There in front of her stood a young boy, no more than 10 turns, with his father and their runner. The boy was glowing with joy and pointing at the runner beast, a gift from his father. Kestrel turned away. Memories of her own runner beast Brenin came back painfully. When she and Jordan had met in Keroon she knew she would have to sell him to afford the crossing to the southern continent, so with a very heavy heart she had left him behind... It hurt her to think of him still because he had been such an important part of her life, they had grown up together. A little part of her was even jealous of Jordan because he still had Jorsk, and she felt so alone when she watched them together.
It had taken every penny they had to pay for their departure. They had to start fresh now. She felt a little lost here, beginning her life again. Kestrel walked on, with no destination in mind.

Player: Name: Parallel Are you 17+?: yup Past RP Experience: none at all Character: Name: Kestrel Age: 20 Gender: Female Sexual Orientation: Bisexual Occupation: Candidate Description: Standing at around 5ft 6 Kestrel manages to seem imposing regardless of the height of those around her. When she wants she makes her presence well known, she can be quite intimidating with her staring grey eyes. But for the most part her simple attire and quiet but purposeful stride let her rome unnoticed by those she has no inclination to speak with. When she left her family she cut her nut brown hair short for convenience sake while traveling, and though she might not readily admit it, an element of defiance was definitely present. She usually runs her hand through it while thinking to herself. Her pale skin is soft and smooth but is often tinged with a deep red at her cheeks from blushing. She tries to hold herself well in company, even when the urge to fade into the background presents itself. On her own she leans more toward looking inconspicuous. Usually seen with her arms crossed and a slight frown she doesn't appear to be very approachable. But this is more of a defense mechanism on her part, she's afraid of attracting too much attention and making a mistake. Her movements are well placed, though this grace did not come naturally, she had to work on her fluidity. In doing so she thought she would be able to present herself better. Due to her almost continuous wandering her already slim frame became toned with strong muscles. Though she had strength in her body she was not at all masculine, her femininity remained distinctly present in her well formed curves, her angular heart shaped face, high cheekbones and mocking smile. Personality: Kestrel is naturally quite a shy and nervous person but through years of practice she has created an external appearance of self confidence and self assurance. She tries very hard to believe that she is this braver and to that end is very stubborn with herself. Around people at first she is very quiet, silently trying to understand them without any interaction (she usually feels uncomfortable starting a conversation). But when she feels comfortable enough to relax with someone this is is when her real confidence shines through. It's at times like these that she can express herself more clearly and genuinely, often surprising herself in the process. Kestrel is strong willed and stubborn when she believes she's right, even if she'd only be brave enough to tell a few people she trusts exactly what that belief is. She does, however, have an unfortunate limit of patience for those she sees as beneath her, perhaps because of long periods spent on her own. But she is very conscious of that fault because of her innate ability to discern how others are feeling. She has never held a position of authority, but from her experiences travelling on her own she has grown accustomed to trusting her intuition and therefore not tolerating anyone else's judgment. It's not very particular to any particular kind of person, just those who happen to think differently from her at the time, she starts to look down on them a little. It's one of her major faults. The years of rearing and handling runnerbeasts have strengthened Kestrel's talent for reading body language fluently. From watching and understanding runners she has learned how to watch and understand people. She always tries to be aware of her surroundings, focusing on those in her immediate presence. This then gives her an advantage to manipulate them, and unfortunately she sometimes does. She has used someone's emotions against them more than once to fuel her own self-indulgent agenda. But lately she's been trying to curb that emotional blackmail because she has become ashamed of it. She now tries to hide her more ruthless side and use her empathy to connect with people better as she feels much like an outcast and not worthy of companionship. She feels like she needs someone to put her trust in because she's finding it hard to trust herself. History: Kestrel was born and raised on the outskirts of Telgar Hold. The man and woman who had raised her as there own were not her true parents and the moment she found this out she convinced herself that she didn't belong with them anymore. She began travelling soon after that with her Runner Brenin and has since avoided speaking to anyone about her parentage. She was good with runners, always had been. She often wondered if her real father had some talent with beasts, it comforted her to think that maybe they shared this connection. She travelled south, making money using her skills with animals, helping farmers with stubborn herdbeasts and tradesmen with young unruly runners. Along the way she was watching for clues as to who her parents had been. She always looked at people directly (regardless of how intimidating that may seem), wondering if there was a likeness between them. Maybe her parents were still alive and would recognise her? Maybe she would see a part of herself in someone else, a sibling perhaps? When she reached Keroon she met a young man named Jordan. He was well built and proportionaly perfect, though not as handsome as you would hope. He was a WherHandler. His bonded partner, Brown Jorsk, was nearing his 5th Turn. Jordan himself was, Kestrel guessed, was close to his 24th. Jordan had been an apprentice at the Beast Hall until he bonded with Jorsk, so Kestrel felt an immediate connection with him. As he was in search of a new WherHold they agreed to travel together. Though this meant sleepng during the day and continuing on at night, Kestrel didn't mind. She enjoyed they're company, which surprised her greatly as she normally avoided people. But the more she travelled with Jordan and Jorsk, the more she longed for a companion of her own and a place to call home. She had grown extremely fond of Jorsk and decided that she too wanted to be a Wherhandler, though she never spoke of this with either of them. They decided to cross to the Sothern Continent by boat to see what it had to offer. Their journey took them to Silver Cove Hold where they began to discuss their future plans. Fun Facts: She is always watching the area around her, her environment, taking note of what's going on and how people are acting. She can take lead easliy but often doesn't out of fear of making a mistake. She loves the creatures of Pern and has a partucular soft spot for Whers. Candidates:Type: Dragon Color Preference: Brown or Blue Rider's Shortened Name: K'trel? Kestrel would inevitably shorten her name for two main, almost contradicting reasons, that may only make sense to her. She would both want to stand out from the norm and yet blend in more with the group. She would relish the idea of being different from the other women at the Weyr as she inwardly sees them as a threat. She's never had much interaction with women as she has spent most of her life around animals and the men handling them. But the more times she spends with her own gender the more it frightens her to think how attrected to them she is. She therefore would want to seperate herself somehow from them and shortening her name would link her more closely to men, whom she feels more comfortable around. That would be the second reason, to feel more at home with her weyrmates as the majority of them would have their honorific names. It would give her a better feeling of closeness within the group, like she fitted in easier. General Info: Can i suggest names for my Dragon? I would really like Druith, Danuth or Lokith RP Search: ok! If it's ok I'd love to be allowed one of the eggs if the nesting Gold does rise soon I think I'd prefer a surprise than just outright choosing a blue or green!
