Straightening his collar, K’ron strode into the weyrhall, his amber eyes flicking about the massive room that had been transformed for the normally jovial occasion. Of course, all of Cerulean was feeling the ache of their missing queen and her rider, the hatching darkened by the inevitable departure of the lovely golden Trith. The brownrider shook his head soundlessly, approaching one of the tables and seating himself with a small nod to the few that had already settled there. He glanced about, but did not see K’vin amidst those assembled, and so poured himself a generous glass from the wine that was provided for all those in attendance. The weyrling barely ever touched alcohol, but tonight…tonight he needed it.
Mine. His dragon said gently, his warm and pleasant voice soothing some of the boy’s more disheartened thoughts. We are all distraught, but I am with you and you will never lose me.
Blinking, K’ron could only smile slightly, feeling comforted by the brown’s words. He should have known that Calzanth would pick up on his inner fear of losing his dragon the same way. I don’t know what I would do without you, partner. He replied, a rush of warmth and affection covering his mind in a soothing way. The brown’s reassurances were heartening, and the weyrling tried to push his more dour thoughts aside, once more watching for his best mate. K’vin had to come, of course, per the order of K’roi. The whole weyr was required to attend for an announcement that doubtlessly had to do with the invasion of Silver Cove. Again, K’ron’s hand fisted as a rush of anger cut through him, but Calzanth brushed it away with a soft touch of his mind, his touch gentle but sure.
Resting on one of the weyr’s unoccupied ledges, the massive brown shifted slightly, far more comfortable there than crammed into his tiny room in the barracks. For his rank Calzanth was huge, and he generally slept on a ledge adjacent to an unused weyr. Yumi was settled upon his back, dozing lightly. There are many new weyrlings to celebrate, Mine, and a young queen to guard. Tonight is a happy occasion.
With a little smile, K’ron agreed, once more flicking his amber eyes towards the entrance in search of K’vin. He and L’cin would be a welcome reprieve from the brownrider’s thoughts.
~~~~~~
With a sigh, Keiko tried to drag herself away from her new dragon. She knew that K’roi had made attendance to the Feast mandatory, but she didn’t want to leave Absinth. The blue was the center of her world now, filling an emptiness that she hadn’t known was there before he had become her everything. Running her hand tenderly down his neck, her brightly-painted nails flashing against his brilliant hide, the new weyrling smiled hugely as the dragon rumbled lowly and shifted.
KeikoLove. You are going to be late. He laughed, rolling one eye backward to regard his rider fondly. I wish you could stay and cuddle, too, but if you miss the Feast we’ll get in trouble. And I totally don’t want you scrubbing latrines for a month.
Another sigh. “I know.” The girl replied, giving her blue one last pat before standing.
Again shifting on his stone couch, Absinth allowed his eyes to drift shut, settling fully upon the rock. Besides…I’m getting way sleepy. He murmured, his mindvoice a little whisper in Keiko’s mind.
With a tender smile, the weyrling left her new dragon quietly, feeling him slip into slumber not long after she shut the door. Running a hand through her hair, which had been left down for the evening, the girl quickly made her way to the Feast, grey eyes immediately glancing around the room as she did. Naturally, she was searching for V’ton, but it seemed as if the bronzerider hadn’t arrived yet. With a little pout, Keiko approached a table and sat, smoothing her dress as she did. The bright, nearly-electric blue of the fabric brought out the color in her grey eyes, cutting just above her breasts and scooping slightly down her back. With her usual amount of quirky makeup, the weyrling was looking good, though she had only gone through so much trouble to impress a certain wingleader. If he even saw her, anyway. It was possible that K’roi would have him at the head table all evening, discussing this little announcement that was about to be given.
Grabbing a glass, Keiko poured herself a generous portion of wine, though she sipped slowly as she glanced about the weyrhall. Surprisingly, she was one of the first to arrive, and it was bit boring at the moment. Of course, the girl was still floating in the sky, despite the depressing events of the day. After all, she had Impressed to her perfect, wonderful Absinth, and nothing could take that feeling away.
~~~~~~
Whirling eyes following his rider as the boy moved about, Orith rumbled softly, feeling his shoulder jerk slightly. With a small grumble, the bronze glanced down, a muscle in his neck also twitching with that odd, involuntary tick genetics had decided to bestow upon him. Shaking his head, the red-hued dragonet settled down, willing the twitches to cease. If he concentrated hard enough, he managed to still the unconscious actions, but they began immediately once more if his mind focused on another matter. You look quite acceptable, my rider, as is befitting of your new status.
Glancing up, his dark eyes focusing upon his bronze, E’ric allowed the corners of his mouth to twitch upwards slightly, the expression as close to a smile as the boy ever wore. “I am endeavoring to bring honor to our names. It is only logical that I do so.” He replied, stepping over to scratch his dragon’s eyeridges easily. The light of the glows flashed against the dragonet as Orith moved slightly, the blood-hue of his hide flickering brilliantly. An unspoken feeling of love reverberated between the two, warming the usually cold, clinical air the pair generally wore. However, after a moment, the weyrling stepped away, and both man and dragon were detached and aloof once more.
Logic dictates that rest is now necessary. I must concur with this sentiment; I seem to be growing rather fatigued. Orith said slowly, blinking as if to keep himself awake.
With another bare, little smile, E’ric nodded, opening the door to the room they both now shared. “This is logical. I shall endeavor to be silent upon my return.” Leaving the barracks, then, the new bronzeweyrling strode into the weyrhall, pulling the bottom of his blue tunic to make certain his attire was organized and neat. The boy was determined to appear collected and calm, as he was, naturally, though his desire to prove himself was also nothing new. That had been his ambition for turns.
Of course, his Impression to Orith was many things. It had been a test; a way for the boy to prove himself not only to Cerulean, but also to his own heart, to know that he had the heart and spirit that made him worthy to be a dragonrider. And, it was also a healing, the bronze’s presence soothing the rawness that the death of his family had left within him. The memory was still there, of course, but now, the dragon’s presence soothed the fire, brought a peace within E’ric that had not been there for a long time. The weyrling was always calm and collected, yes, but this inner peace was new. It was because of Orith. Glancing up, his dark eyes settled upon K’roi, and the boy sat at a nearby table, nodding formally to those gathered. He was quite anxious to see what this ‘announcement’ would be.

((Omg. I love the title. XD))
“Blech! I’ll be glad when you can do this stuff yourself, AbbyBabe.” The new weyrling said, her nose wrinkling in distaste as she lopped off another piece of meat. Her stomach rolled at the sight, the blood running down the raw herdbeast and causing the girl clamp her mouth stubbornly shut. She was not going to throw up…again…and cause the other weyrlings to stare at her curiously and a little mockingly…again. Swallowing, Keiko repeated the movement, this time literally feeling her stomach heave in an attempt to empty her breakfast on the ground. Shards! Why does this have to be so HARD? The girl mentally wailed, and her blue curled his tail around her ankle lovingly, crooning lowly and soothingly.
I am sorry to cause you so much distress, Keiko-love. The blue mumbled, rubbing his head against her shoulder affectionately. Glancing up, the dragonet tensed slightly, a little hiss escaping him. Buuuuuuuuuuuut, if you wouldn’t mind speeding up, I could probably finish my food before Drailth. Absinth quickly unwound himself from his beloved girl, snapping up the next piece of meat and gulping it down quickly.
Blinking, the blueweyrling paused in mid-cut, narrowing her grey eyes at her dragon. Hey! Not so fast, AbbyBabe. I know you’ve got, like, this rival with Drailth, but if you choke to death I will totally never forgive you. So chew before you swallow. She demanded, and the blue rumbled out a reluctant acquiescence. Fighting her nausea, Keiko returned to her disgusting chore, feeding her beloved dragon methodically and making sure he chewed his food before swallowing. As silence stretched between them, Absinth seemed to grow bored, shuffling his paws or tail often. Glancing around, the dragonet huffed, then abruptly blinked. Again, he let out a small grumble, then a trill, and then promptly added a soft whistle to the procession of noises. Keiko could feel a rush of delight from her dragon, and he quickly repeated the sounds. Bored, Abby? She asked with a grin, laughing when he trilled at her.
Before the blue could reply, however, he glanced up, noting a large, dark shadow overhead. Swinging his wedge-shaped head about, Absinth again curled his tail around Keiko’s ankle, crooning softly in delight. Oooh, who is that, my love? He asked, his voice smooth and coy.
Wiping off her hands and tossing the gross, bloody towel aside, the new weyrling glanced up, and promptly felt a giggle bubble inside her. THAT is V’ton and Dysiiliouth. She grinned, standing and quickly disentangling herself from Absinth’s tail. You have to meet them, AbbyBaby. Come on! With that, the girl rushed forward, the somewhat gawky blue ambling behind her and issuing a series of trills and whistles to amuse himself. “V’ton! Like, wow, I’m so happy to see you!” Keiko gushed, practically throwing herself at him. “And Dysiiliouth! I’ve missed you, big guy.”
Padding up behind His, the velvety-hued blue paused, curling his tail and gazing at the large bronze with whirling eyes. Turning his head, the weyrling made certain the huge dragon could see the lovely, pretty patch of purple that decorated his right eye, wisping about his face in a rather appealing fashion. Dysiiliouth, was it? I’m Absinth. He said smoothly, a distinctively coy note in his playful mindvoice. Lucky for me that Mine is infatuated with a man that rides such a handsome bronze. With that, the blue trilled again, arching his neck flirtatiously. Keiko suddenly blinked, staring at her blue with disbelief in her eyes. Was he…was he flirting with a bronze?!?

The girl couldn’t help but smile in delight as R’tel lifted her off her feet, a warm feeling rushing through her. At his words, however, the new weyrling sobered slightly, a slight tug on her heart. The newest goldrider…that was her, wasn’t it? “Well, I’m glad you did. I’ve missed you so.” Raelwyn smiled at the greenrider, her eyes bright, but her pulse beat a steady tattoo. Was she ready for this? Was she truly prepared for what her life was about to become? The newest goldrider…and the only goldrider in Cerulean.
With a soft croon, Ellenath brushed her fears and uncertainties away, her warmth and love easing the girl’s apprehension. Worry not, my lovely. We will prove ourselves in time, and you will see that I have made the right choice. Now, sweep these fears from your heart and enjoy tonight.
Thank you, Ellie, my love. Raelwyn replied gratefully, smiling as she settled upon her bed. Laughing in delight, the goldweyrling grinned, her hand running down Cloud’s back as the brown climbed into her lap. “Ineth is such a sweet dragon.” The girl said, her voice brushing over the words affectionately. The green might not have been the brightest glow in the room, but she was a darling personality, and the harper adored her. “I’ll have to make a point to see her soon, and she can meet Ellenath too.” Yet, even as she spoke, something caught her attention, and the weyrling paused. ‘Our girl’, he had said. Abruptly, Raelwyn found herself blushing too, and she quickly dropped her eyes, hoping that she wasn’t mistaking what the greenrider meant. Did he like her as much as she favored him?
Settling back on her haunches, a very regal and lovely figure, the young queen flared her diaphanous wings slightly, the glowlight glinting through the delicate wingsails and glittering brilliantly. Rumbling lowly as the rider bowed to her, the gold inclined her head imperiously, her eyes whirling in delight. A true gentlemen, isn’t he, my lovely? Ellenath laughed, her lovely, lilting mindvoice dancing with amusement. When Hers smiled, the dragonet suddenly found herself with the urge to test him. And you as well, greenrider. She replied, her voice reaching the man directly and echoing in his mind. Her pretty, lilting voice was pleasant and kind, and she flicked her tail good-naturedly. It would seem that you and MineLovely are close. Would you perhaps be thinking of escorting her to the Feast tonight? Tilting her head slightly to the side, Ellenath watched him with bright, merry eyes, a whirl of amused color dancing within them.
Again, the harper felt a slight warmth upon her cheeks, a small blush dusting her face as her dragon played matchmaker. Ellie. What am I going to do with you? She mentally sighed, though she quite avidly hoped the greenrider said yes. “Oh, of course!” Raelwyn agreed, smiling easily. “Congratulations on graduating!” She added, her delight obvious in her voice and expression. She had hoped that he would become a full-fledged rider soon. Again, the goldweyrling smiled, reaching out to tenderly scratch her queen’s eyeridges. Ellenath crooned lowly. “I suppose I will.” She said softly, her green eyes slowly meeting his. “I still can’t really believe it, R’tel. I Impressed!” Shaking her head, Raelwyn sobered slightly, though the light was still in her gaze. “I’ve been a candidate for over four turns now…and this just seems so surreal. So perfect. I'm almost afraid I'm going to wake up any moment and discover it's a dream.”

Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to post very much for a bit. ):
I have a rather huge project I am working on at the moment, a graphic design job that is worth a lot of money. XD So...I have quite a bit of work to put into it, and I may not be available to post very often here for the next week or so.
I am going to try to finish it as fast as possible so I can get back to RPing with you, my loves. I will try to hop on and post some, but I will be scarce until this project is complete. I am going to miss you all SO MUCH! /cries and hugs all of her Cerulean luffies. Don't worry, though, it shouldn't be more than a week, I promise!

A low rumble was the girl's reply as she apologized to Orith, the blood-hued dragonet gazing at her rather passively. He was not a foolish hatchling that allowed his most primitive emotions to rule him. He was a logical being that valued intelligence too much to give in to his baser instincts. Even if he was bloody hungry. Dipping his head towards the child in a forgiving manner, the bronze watched with some amusement as the small one interacted with His, seemingly unbothered by the boy's lack of emotional reaction. Of course, perhaps it was E'ric calm manner that drew to her to him, just as it had drawn the hatchling. Orith had known the moment he felt the cool, detached mind of his now-bonded, they were made to complete each other, and conceivably, that same inner control was what the child so liked about him. It was a fascinating thing to ponder.
As the girl spoke, the bronzeweyrling shook his head, gazing upon her with cool black eyes. He could tell that her apology was more for show than anything, and he sensed that she was far from repentant over what she had done. Not as if it mattered; her actions had offended neither he nor his dragon and had, in fact, made the boy feel oddly warm that she had bothered to come congratulate him. The child seemed genuinely pleased that he had Impressed-and to a bronze, no less-and it was a welcome change from some of the more...hostile relationships he had cultivated in Cerulean. "An apology is not necessary. You have harmed nothing." E'ric replied, then gave her that same small, bare smile from before. When his dragonet rumbled once more, the boy added, "Orith is not offended, and neither am I. We are...grateful that you wished to congratulate us so strongly."
Turning from the horror of the sands, feeling a tinge of sorrow as the green screamed and went between, the boy felt a jolt of concern as he saw Selene upon the ground. Though she nodded to his query, E'ric still wasn't sure if she was indeed well or not. She seemed shaken, but then, they all did, and given her age, it was no surprise. Even he, one who prided himself on his detached persona, had been affected, and it was only logical that a young girl would be far more troubled than he. Though, the bronzeweyrling felt his brow quirk impossibly high as his dragonet bespoke the girl, though he inwardly had to commend it's brilliance. What better way to distract her from the sorrow than the voice of a hatchling in her mind? Sending his bonded a small mental touch of gratitude, E'ric grabbed another hunk of meat, feeding it to his bronze easily as he glanced over, watching Selene's reaction with dark eyes.
Taking the proffered food, the dragonet focused one whirling eye upon the child, feeling a slight rumble of amusement vibrate in his throat. It is favorable to have made your acquaintance, Selene. He said formally, his articulate, even mindvoice never once wavering or pitching in any emotion. Orith was much like his rider, and he spoke quite oddly, certainly unlike many dragons. As the child spoke once more, the bronze could feel his shoulder jerk, and then a moment later, his left paw, the involuntary twitches occurring rather erratically and without warning. Still, the hatchling did not allow the actions to affect him, and instead swung his large head around to gaze fully upon the girl, allowing his rider to know that he was satiated for the moment. This is the anniversary of your birth, youngling? Orith asked, then gifted her with a low croon. Then I shall give you my well wishes. And though I am unsure presently how aesthetically pleasing I am when compared to others of my color, your compliment is appreciated. Of course, the bronze knew that he was better than most, as he was intelligent and strong, but superior beauty had never occurred to him.
Observing the interaction between his dragon and the girl, E'ric was a bit surprised to see the bronze handling her so expertly. He seemed to be quite at ease speaking with the child, even repeating her name unflinchingly, and the boy was suddenly aware of just how unique this hatchling was. Orith was very much ruled by logic, it seemed, and was not a typical dragonet. That pleased him. However, he was abruptly startled by Selene practically throwing herself at him again, her hug reaching it's intended target this time. For a moment, the bronzeweyrling was too surprised to react, but as she settled against him, E'ric slid his arms around the girl, feeling a strange amount of brotherly affection for her. "I must admit that I, too, am rather pleased with my Impression to Orith." He agreed, though his dark eyes did cut over to gaze at the frowning weyrfolk. "Perhaps not." The weyrling granted, once more gazing at the child. "I think it would be best for you to return to the stands, now, before you receive any unwanted attention. However, it would be logical to assume that I will again see you at the hatching feast." E'ric said, even, cool voice as clinical as ever.

Still watching his best mate with gentle amber eyes, K'ron could easily feel the other boy relax under his hand, relieved when the greenrider finally met his gaze. Slowly, K'vin begin to smile, and after a moment, a huge grin stretched across his features. The brownweyrling couldn't help but smile too, glad to see his friend loosen up. It was a rather disconcerting feeling, for your own best mate to be too anxious to even look you in the eyes, and K'ron was more than happy to see it pass. However, as the other boy abruptly stepped forward and grabbed him in a hug, the former beastcrafter blinked in surprise, having not expected that. Yet, his arms automatically returned the gesture, wrapping around the greenrider easily and feeling as natural to him as hugging Riona had been.
Slapping his buddy on the back as K'vin stepped away, the brownrider felt himself sober at the words, a small frown tugging at his features. "Of course, K'vin. Like I said, you're my best mate, and you always will be." The little shudder wasn't lost on the boy, and K'ron suddenly found himself wondering about the greenweyrling's past. There had to be reason that his friend was so anxious about admitting his sexual orientation, and suddenly, he had a feeling he knew why. For just a bare moment, the brownweyrling fisted his hand, nearly angry at whoever was making his best mate so afraid, but just a second later the rage passed, K'ron forcing himself under control. It didn't matter now...K'vin would always have his best mate, and the former beastcrafter would never hurt him.
Shaking his head just a bit, the boy couldn't help but grin in reply to his friend's sappy words, noting the blush that suddenly stained K'vin's cheeks. It was...cute. Really cute. Abruptly, K'ron found himself wishing that he, too, had someone that made him feel that way, but the emotion was soon gone, and the brownweyrling grinned again. After all, he had plenty of time to worry about that further down the road, and right now, he and Calzanth were probably too busy to pursue those types of relationships. They could think about the pretty girls...and maybe the pretty boys...after they had graduated. Right? Of course. "Shards, K'vin." He chuckled, winking at his best mate. "You've got it bad." Still grinning, K'ron again squeezed the other boy's shoulder before stepping out of the stall, entering Jet's so he could get the black runner tacked up as well. After all, they still needed to go riding today. "I'd like to get to know L'cin." The brownweyrling agreed, slipping the bridle on his runner with steady, capable hands. "I can't say I've ever really been in much of a relationship." The boy abruptly mused, amber eyes focused on Jet as he saddled the large, black runner. "There was this girl back on the ranch, Riona, that I liked, but we never really...I mean, I suppose I never made a move." For a moment, K'ron wondered why he was suddenly divulging all of this to K'vin, but in a way, it felt right, especially given how open his best mate had just been. Shrugging, still focused on Jet, the weyrling continued. "Probably for the best, though. I wouldn't have been able to leave her had we become more than friends, and I never would have come to Cerulean to meet my best mate and Impress Calzanth, right?" Tossing a little grin towards K'vin, the brownweyrling ran a hand down the runner's sleek neck.
Rumbling in delight as the green dove in after him, Calzanth banked and swam near her, reaching out to touch his nose gently against hers with warm, brotherly affection. It is good to see you, Asileth. The large brown replied, eyes whirling a content blue under his protective lids. Using his massive wings and legs to backstroke a bit, the dragon then turned and swam deeper. Come, sister, let us see what we can find. He said, enjoying the feel of the water sliding over his hide and knowing that his favorite dragon on Pern was with him.

Lost in Ellenath’s whirling eyes, Raelwyn blinked as she heard a soft knock, tilting her head to stare at her door curiously. It was a very quiet sound, and the girl wondered who it might be. Stroking her gold’s nose one last time, the harper rose, her two flits standing on the bed and staring curiously after her. However, as soon as she opened the door, a smile broke across her face, a rush of warmth flowing through her as she recognized the man before her. “R’tel!” She exclaimed, and before he even had a chance to react, she practically fell on him, wrapping her arms around his neck. “I was hoping I got a chance to see you today.” The girl said softly, then abruptly realized she was leaving him standing in the hall. Pulling back, Raelwyn smiled, feeling a bit of blush on her cheeks. She honestly hadn’t realized how much she missed the greenrider until now.
“I’m sorry, would you like to come in?” She hastily asked, suddenly feeling a bit flustered. “And please greet Ineth for me, too, if that is ok. I wish I could see her.” The goldweyrling hadn’t seen him since their first meeting upon the beach, though that one day had been wonderful. He and his lovely green, Ineth, had been gracious enough to show her the beauty of the South, and R’tel…well, he had been wonderful. Raelwyn had never met a man that made her feel the way he did in that single day, and she wanted to see more of him. Much more. Of course, there were certain things that would have to wait until Ellenath had matured, but it was a bit early to be thinking of that. The harper wasn’t even sure if he felt the same way about her.
Tilting her head to the side, the young queen gazed at their visitor, settling delicately on her haunches. And who is this, my lovely? She asked lightly, a slightly amused tint to her lilting voice.
Glancing back at her dragon, Raelwyn quickly replied, feeling silly for not introducing the two already. “Oh, Ellenath, this is R’tel of green Ineth.” She said, smiling she provided his name in a warm, affectionate tone. “And, R’tel, this is Ellenath.” The girl added, grinning a bit. Everyone in Cerulean knew the new queen’s name, of course, but this was a formal introduction.
Nodding to the boy, the young gold gave a soft mental laugh, teasing her chosen gently. I do believe you like him, my lovely. She said, enjoying the suddenly embarrassed thoughts of Hers. Please convey my greetings to him, and let him know that I am pleased to make his acquaintance.
With a fond smile, the girl did just that, dutifully conveying Ellenath’s message to her visitor. As she did, Cloud and Tydus peeked around her form, gazing at the greenrider warily. However, between the strong will of the girl and her queen, they did not show any aggression. “So, how have you and Ineth been?” Raelwyn asked, settling on her bed and leaving R’tel plenty of room if he wanted to join her. “I’ve missed you both so much.”

Who: E’ric/Open What: Firestone Bagging When: Late Morning Where: The beach, near the docks Warnings: It’s E’ric. Self-explanatory. XD
The heat of the summer was quite stifling even early in the day, E’ric reflected, lifting large chunks of firestone and filling the bags before him. It was a dirty, labor-intense chore, which suited the weyrling just fine. He was used to physical toil, quite fit from his turns of runnercraft, and he took to such things with ease. The boy’s muscles flexed and moved smoothly as he lifted a rather large chunk of stone, his face betraying nothing, as if there was no effort on his part. It was a rather unique display, though the bronzerider never did anything to make a show of himself. It was merely self-discipline on his part, training his body as he trained his mind, his detached, aloof presence magnified by his tightly controlled movements. His expression never changed throughout the morning, his cool, distant face remaining rather blank as he worked.
Although, sweat dripped down his face and coated his body, the only visible sign of labor upon him. Despite how well-trained he was, nothing could overcome a natural instinct. Pausing, the weyrling reached down and pulled his tunic off, folding the cloth and setting it neatly beside him. In a second, E’ric returned to his work. A large, wicked bruise was now visible upon his body, the purpled skin covering his lower back. It looked rather painful, but the boy gave no indication of pain, still working methodically. Abruptly, the dark-eyed weyrling felt the awakening conscious of his dragon, and for just an instant, a small, bare smile was upon his face.
Greetings, my rider. I sense that you are still occupied with your chore? Orith asked, even, articulate mindvoice sounding clinical and proper in his bonded’s mind. When he received an affirmation, the bronze rumbled lowly. Very well. Perhaps a few riddles will help to pass the time for you. A quandary for you, my rider; ‘What goes up, but never goes down?’ The dragonet felt his shoulder twitch as he spoke, and he growled lowly, concentrating upon ceasing the involuntary movements.
So challenged, the boy’s eyes flashed for a moment, reveling in testing his mind against the rather formidable one of his bronze. Orith was extremely intelligent, and E’ric rather enjoyed flexing his mental muscles in contest against the dragon’s. For a bit, the weyrling was silent, sorting through possible replies and discarding each, but then he quickly allowed a flash of triumph to dart across his features. Your age. He replied simply, enjoying the pleased emotions his dragon presented to him. Now I present my own to you. ‘I am too swift to see, though I am seen through, and I do not cease until your death. What am I?’ His bronze was silent for quite a while, and the boy continued to work, Rukbat’s rays beating down on him. Finally, however, Orith spoke once more.
Time. He announced firmly, but quickly snorted as his rider replied.
A blink of an eye. E’ric said smoothly, quirking a brow.
With a brush of mental amusement, Orith was pleased with the boy. I chose well that day, my rider.

Who: Raelwyn/Open What: Chores-Childcare When: Midday before Lunch Where: Creche Warnings: None.
Even though Raelwyn knew that she still had chores to complete, it was rather difficult to pull herself away from Ellenath to do them. She was utterly in love with the delicate, gentle gold, and even being apart from her for a candlemark was too much. Yet, despite this, the weyrling knew her duty, and she would do it well…even if she didn’t want to leave her dragon long enough to see it finished. With a soft sigh, the girl ran her hand down the queen’s glittering hide one last time, pressing a kiss to her cheek. “I’ll be back soon, my love.” She said softly, scratching the gold’s eyeridges tenderly before stepping away.
Humming lowly with pleasure, the young queen nuzzled her rider as the harper pulled back, eyes whirling with contentment. I should hope so, my lovely. It is a bit selfish of me, but I loathe sharing you with the twoleg hatchlings, even if only for a short mark of time every day.
Smiling tenderly at her beloved dragon, Raelwyn kissed her again before straightening, beckoning her two firelizards over as well. Tydus and Cloud perched on her shoulders, rubbing against her cheeks affectionately while the girl laughed. “I know, I’ll miss you too.” She said soothingly, raising her hands to cup their head’s delicately and planting a kiss on each of them affectionately. “Goodbye, my loves.” With that, Tydus rose, hovering near Ellenath while Cloud returned to his basket, curling up in the green blanket. The goldweyrling then left her room, heading towards the crèche quickly so she would not be late.
Upon entering, the harper relieved the current drudge on duty and smiled at the children, while they eagerly moved forward with smiles of their own. After the first sevenday, they had learned that Raelwyn always had a new game for them to play, seeming to always be in a good mood no matter what. “Guess what?” She asked excitedly, smiling as she kneeled before the children so she could see their faces better. When several of them piped out ‘what?’s’ in reply, the weyrling grinned. “I have a new game for you to play, but it’s a very secret game, ok? That means it’s very special. Do you think you can learn it?” When they all nodded enthusiastically, Raelwyn straightened, clapping. “I’m sure you’re right. You are a very bright bunch of younglings.”
With a snort, Ellenath gave a bright mental laugh. Oh, my lovely. Sometimes I wonder at your ability to play so well.
I’m a harper, Ellie. Charisma and deception come with the territory. The queenweyrling grinned in reply, enjoying the feel of her dragon’s amusement. Quickly, she had the children lined up in the crèche, ready to begin their game, Raelwyn smiling and laughing as they did.

Who: K’ron/Keiko/Open What: Chores-Infirmary Duties When: Afternoon after lunch Where: Infirmary Warnings: Whiny bluerider.
Winging in above the infirmary, Calzanth slowed, backwinging near the entrance and landing easily upon the ground. Turning his head, the brown watched his rider dismount with ease, grabbing a neckridge to steady himself before jumping down, landing slightly crouched upon the ground. His dragon was huge specimen for his color, and it wasn’t exactly a short drop. Rising, the weyrling slapped his partner on the leg affectionately, smiling at him. “Thanks, Cal.” The boy said, turning slightly to gaze at the infirmary. He wasn’t looking forward to this particular chore, but he never slacked when it came to his duties. No matter how distasteful they were.
Of course, Mine. The brown rumbled, backing up a few steps before tensing his muscles. I think I shall take the small one to the beach with me while you are working. We can play in the big waters until you are done. Calzanth titled his large wedge-shaped head to the side, reaching out for the little green that belonged to His. A soft mental touch was his reply, and soon enough, Yumi blinked from between before the dragon, trilling in excitement.
Smiling, K’ron waved to his dragon and little flit before turning, approaching the infirmary with a slight frown. Behind him, he could hear the heavy beats of his brown’s wings, then a slight brush of cold air as Calzanth and Yumi betweened. Upon entering, the weyrling was greeted by the site of a nearly-packed infirmary, the result of Silver Cove’s attack. An unwelcome memory began to plague the boy, but he stubbornly pushed it away, refusing to remember what he had done that day, and who had been lost. Swallowing, K’ron approached one of the healers, politely inquiring after his duties. With a frazzled nod, the woman led him to a corner where a large fire was built, a boiling pot of water above it. He was to sterilize vials and bottles, which was quite an easy chore. Nodding respectfully, the brownweyrling took a pair of tongs and began his work methodically, enjoying the vivid pictures Calzanth provided every few moments. It seemed he and Yumi had found a few wild flits to play with, and were enjoying their afternoon.
~~~~~
“NO! I absolutely refuse to go!” The girl wailed, throwing her hands up on the air dramatically as she paced in her room. Jazzy cocked his head to the side and whined, ears drooping at the obviously foul mood his mistress was in. Eyes softening as she caught the noise, the new blueweyrling sighed, slumping down on her bed moodily. “Why me?” She groaned, gazing mournfully at the lovely, attractive blue that approached.
Crooning lowly, Absinth nuzzled her face, the vivid patch around his eye turned towards her. Poor Keiko-love. He cooed, pressing closer so his head rested upon her shoulder and curling his tail around her ankle affectionately. It just isn’t fair, just so not fair at all. The dragonet agreed soothingly, sending his bonded loving, calming thoughts.
Throwing her arms around her beautiful dragon, Keiko heaved a great sigh. “Like, this totally has to be some sick joke. I so can’t work in the infirmary! I totally barf at the sight of blood alone, and I can’t stand sick people. It’s like…so gross!” The weyrling continued to rant for a few moments more, but she eventually stopped, sighing one last time before pulling away from her blue. Staring into his whirling eyes, Keiko smiled, leaning forward until their noses touched. “But…I like, guess I have to go. They’ll hold both of us back if I don’t!” Scratching Absinth’s color eyeridges lovingly, the girl finally bounced to her feet, slipping on some sandals before she raced out the door. “Bye babies, be good!” She called, instantly sobering as soon as she was out of the weyrling barracks.
Ugh, infirmary chores! What the shards were they thinking, making her do something like that? Her dad had been a healer, and she hated his job desperately, always avoiding his office like the plague. Sick people made her skin crawl, and blood…oh Faranth, blood. It made her stomach turn. How was she supposed to work in an infirmary like that? With a scowl, the weyrling entered the room, already feeling nauseous as the smells reached her nose. Approaching a healer, Keiko followed her dutifully as the woman led her towards one of the beds. Apparently, she needed an assistant for the day to help her while she changed bandages and bedsheets. The blueweyrling swallowed again, trying to fight against the inevitable. However, as soon as the healer pulled back the first layer of bandages and she saw the blood staining the white cloth, the girl shot off, darting outside in a blink and emptying her guts right by the door.
Keiko-love! Absinth called, worry in his mindvoice. Are you ok?
Coughing, the girl nodded. Yes…I’m fine. I’m totally fine, don’t worry, baby. Straightening, she wiped her mouth slowly, glancing up as she caught movement from the corner of her eye. Of course, the woman had marched right out after her, obviously upset that the blueweyrling had run out on her, but as soon as she saw what had happened, the healer promptly led Keiko back inside and to a corner where a boy was dipping vials and bottles in a pot of boiling water. Wisely, the woman switched their chores, giving the girl the tongs and telling the brownweyrling he had a new chore for the afternoon.
Watching the boy step away, Keiko hesitated for a moment before she called to him. “I’m like…sorry about that.” She said, still feeling a bit sick. “I can’t…I totally can’t deal with blood.”
Smiling amiably, the brownrider shook his head, patting her on the head as he stepped away. “Don’t worry about it. I don’t mind.” With that, K’ron went to helping the woman with bandages and bedsheets, while Keiko had to smile.
Yea, Cerulean kicked Benden’s butt.
Who: Dastan/Open What: Chores-Library Duties When: Late Night Where: Library Warnings: Dastan is bored. That in itself means danger ahead. XD
Generally, the library was not a place Dastan tended to frequent. Although the handler was a rather intelligent individual, he enjoyed testing his body far more than his mind, and wasn’t much of an avid reader. Therefore, when one saw him in said library, it was likely due to…chores. Scratching the back of his neck, the wherling entered the room, glancing around at the piles of books he was to return to the shelves. Grinning a bit, the bluehandler approached one stack, grabbing the whole pile and heading towards the center of the library. At least the ‘day shift’ of candidates and weyrlings had already alphabetized the books, and all he had to do was put them away. That simplified his chore, anyway. Grabbing one book, the boy felt the amused thoughts of his wher, Dassk sharing a rather vivid picture with his handler that made him smirk.
“Tell me about it.” He muttered with a grin, discreetly rolling his grey-blue eyes. The brightly-hued creature seemed to have quite the sense of humor, one that matched his handler’s perfectly, and they enjoyed sharing their amusement with each other. At the moment, Dassk had implied that his bonded was likely disgruntled enough to perhaps skip chores for the night, and would be tempted to…except that could lead to being held back from graduating, and even more chores. Not to mention there were…other things he was looking forward to doing when the blue matured, and Toven was just sadistic enough to bar him from doing it if he slacked off. Yea, he was funny wher, alright.
Shaking his head, Dastan began sliding the books back into their places, his mind wandering to Mira. His favorite person in Cerulean had been injured during the Silver Cove attack, and even if he could have forgiven them before, there was no way he would now. They had caused her harm, and the bluehandler wanted to choke every one of them he could get his hands on. The boy himself had been busy in the weyrs, trying to pull those injured to safety, but he had wished over and over again that he had been there in the kitchens to protect her. Not that Mira needed his protection normally, as she was quite capable of taking care of herself, but all the same, the wherling knew that he could have done something to help her. One hand tightening on the book he held, knuckles going white, Dastan scowled, remembering how furious he had been when he first learned of her injuries. Not only that, but they had lost many good men and women in the attack, and Silver Cove needed to pay. Perhaps that wasn’t the most valiant thought ever, but he couldn’t stop the vicious emotions. Shaking his head, the handler shoved the book into it’s place, working methodically to finish the chore.
The shock still hadn’t worn off. Even now, a candlemark later, Raelwyn just stopped to stare at her dragon every few moments, trying to reassure herself that this was real. After four turns of standing time and time again only to be left alone afterwards…that had lent this moment such a surreal air, as if she was suddenly going to wake up and find out it was all a dream. Yet, Ellenath was too real to be a hallucination, every movement she made burned into the girl’s memory forever. Still, the harper was stunned, unable to believe that she of all people had Impressed a queen. Was she truly worthy of such a thing?
What a silly question, lovely. The gold laughed, her sweet, lilting mindvoice bringing a rush of warmth to the girl’s mind. If you were not worthy, I would not have chosen you. Simple enough, yes?
A smile curved the harper’s lips upon those words, and she turned, wrapping her arms around the dragon’s neck gently. “Oh Ellenath, I love you. I love you so much!” She whispered fiercely, overwhelmed by too many emotions to name. She was elated, euphoric even, reveling in the feeling of being bonded to such an amazing creature. However, Raelwyn was also numb in a way, still reeling from the shock of Impressing a queen, wondering how she could possibly be fit for so lovely a dragoness when she herself had been deemed unworthy for over four turns now.
Crooning lowly, bowing her head slightly so her nose was touching her rider’s shoulder, Ellenath sent the girl loving, reassuring thoughts. Do not be so foolish, my love. You did not Impress because you were destined for me. No other dragon would have dared take you from your Ellenath. Nuzzling Hers, the queen then straightened, her delicate wings rustling gently. Now then, finish packing my lovely, so that I may sleep and you may rest.
Pulling away from her dragon, Raelwyn nodded, still smiling softly at the gold. Somehow, Ellenath had a way of reassuring the girl, no matter how she was feeling. Scratching the queen’s eyeridges for a moment, the harper then turned, walking into the candidate barracks and into chaos. With so many Impressions, of course, the new weyrlings were rushing about madly to move their things to their new rooms, and she was among their number. The goldweyrling threaded through the crowd slowly, nodding and smiling whenever someone congratulated her, and returning the sentiment if the other had Impressed as well. Entering her old room, Raelwyn began settling the last of her possessions into her trunk, having already moved most of her things to her new room in the weyrling barracks. Of course, some of her furniture had been too difficult to move alone, but she suddenly had received more attention and aid than ever before. Several boys, many of which she didn’t even know, had offered her their assistance in moving her heavier belongings, packing her two tables and her mirror stand without complaint. It had opened her eyes to something else.
She was a queenrider now.
No matter who had ignored her or mocked her before, Raelwyn was suddenly an entirely different person, a girl who was destined to be Weyrwoman someday. Eventually, once weyrling training was past, she would inherit the burden of leadership, and would command the respect of all those in Cerulean. The revelation had nearly made her sick. Could she be Weyrwoman? Could she really run an entire weyr, stay strong in the face of whatever adversity came her way, and conduct herself with both dignity and understanding? Yes…she could, someday, she was sure, but until then, she needed Ellenath’s help. Now finally packed, Raelwyn grabbed one side of the trunk, and her old roommate grabbed the other, and together, the two girls packed it to the weyrling barracks, the young queen following them with delicate steps. Tydus and Cloud darted overhead, trilling and bugling excitedly. Finally, the two reached her room, and dropped the trunk at the foot of the bed. Biding her friend farewell, the harper turned to survey the clutter of objects. The furniture was set how she wanted, but her belongings were strewn everywhere. She would have to get unpacked as soon as the hatching feast was over, that was certain, as her inner organization freak was going ballistic at the state of her room.
This room was, however, much larger than the one she shared in the candidate barracks, and this one was hers alone. Hers and Ellenath’s. Well, no…hers, Ellenath’s, Tydus’s, and Cloud’s, she thought with a giggle. Glancing over, she saw her brown settling on the new pillow, but her bronze was fluttering around Ellenath, causing the harper to grin. Anyone who knew the little flit was well aware of his love for female dragons, particularly those that glittered, and he was already enamored with her. Cloud, however, seemed a bit apathetic towards the large gold, still preferring Raelwyn’s company. It seemed she had lost her eternal bronze protector to the lovely queen, but her brown had taken his spot, just as vicious in his vigil of her.
Silly little creature. Ellenath comment with a good-natured huff, eyes whirling in amusement. She knew that Tydus admired her, and secretly she thought it was adorable, but she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of knowing.
With a smile, the goldweyrling sat on her bed, beckoning to her dragon. Stepping delicately over, the queen settled next to the cot, resting her head in the girl’s lap. Raelwyn smiled tenderly, scratching her eyeridges with expert fingers, love and adoration coursing through her at the touch. Tydus and Cloud curled up on the bed nearby, the bronze closer to Ellenath while the brown was nestled against the harper. Right now, all four were perfectly content.
Settling the saddle upon Rain’s back, K’ron leaned down and grabbed the girth that hung from the opposite side of the runner. Looping the tie through the saddle, the boy tightened the strap with deft, experienced fingers, so familiar with the whole process that he could likely do it in his sleep. However, as the brownweyrling glanced back at his best mate, he noticed the other boy’s nervous movements, several anxious habits that K’ron had grown used to. Suppressing a smirk, knowing that his friend didn’t need anything to make him even more nervous, the boy waited patiently for K’vin to reply. Of course, the greenrider was looking at everything but his amber eyes, and that alone cemented the former beastcrafter’s belief that this confession had to do with romance. As K’vin spoke, the brownweyrling nodded once, familiar with the other boy. He knew of L’cin, though they had never spoken for an extended period of time. However, as his friend elaborated, K’ron’s brows rose slightly in surprise, a bit shocked by the revelation. He hadn’t expected to find that the two were anything more than friends, but then again, the boy hadn’t exactly seen them together much.
Although, K’ron’s expression quickly changed as the other weyrling continued, still refusing to look at him, and the brownrider shook his head, though his companion wouldn’t see it. “K’vin.” He said, voice firm and his expression almost pained as he spoke, “You can look at me now.” Raising his hand, K’ron clasped the greenrider’s shoulder firmly, fingers squeezing slightly. “You are my best mate, K’vin, nothing is going to change that, I don’t care how you swing.” With a final squeeze, the brownrider dropped his arm, his expression lightening slightly into something more teasing. “Although, you are going to have to formally introduce me and L’cin, now that I know he’s after my best mate. I’ll have to see if he’s good enough for you or not.” Of course, K’ron was only playing, as he knew that L’cin was a good man and K’vin knew whether or not their match was a good one, but he wanted to ease his buddy’s nerves. The greenweyrling was too worried about what he was going to say.
Although, honestly, K’ron had never really put much thought into the sexual preferences of his friends, the thought to consider it never occurring to him. Of course, the brownrider had realized the instant he Impressed Calzanth that he might take a tumble with a male greenrider someday, should his dragon win a Flight. He had come to terms with that, easier than he had previously assumed he would, and was actually…open to the idea. K’ron knew that he was attracted to women, yes, but just being in a weyr had made him curious. What was it…like to be with another man? The boy had been holdbred, and so had never even thought to experiment before, but when he lived amongst such sexual ease, it was hard not to begin to wonder. Patting Rain’s neck, the brownweyrling tossed the reins over the stall door, finished with the dappled mare. Amber eyes focusing upon his best mate, K’ron smiled. “So…what’s L’cin like? He seems like a nice guy, but I haven’t been around him much.”
Quickly getting to his feet as Asileth responded, the brown stretched his massive frame, giving a good shake from his head to the tip of his tail. I will meet you there, sister. Calzanth replied, dropping from the ledge and unfurling his wings easily. Giving a great bugle, the dragon blinked between, eager to get the beach as soon as he could. Appearing above the ocean, he called again, seeing the vivid green hide of his sister approaching. Let us test the waters, Asileth. He rumbled merrily, and quickly pulled in his huge wings, dropping like a stone. Crashing into the deep waters, the brown clicked his protective eyelid down, moving through the ocean easily. Calzanth had missed his favorite dragon, and couldn’t wait to play with her.
