Lips twitching in a desire to laugh, Raelwyn felt her brows raise a fraction with every word her best friend spoke. In all actuality, she was just about to say the same thing when he beat her to the punch, so to speak. Laughing, the candidate grinned, her eyes inexorably moving to rest upon her flit. “I was just about to remind you of that.” The girl said, her voice unsteady as she worked to fit the words in between chuckles. “Tydus would never stand for that, unless his shrine was much bigger than yours, and I don’t know about you, but my metalworking prowess leaves much to be desired. By that, I mean, of course, that I have none.” Grinning, the harper winked at her companion, shaking her head as he let out a rather heavy sigh. “Worry not, my dear weyrling, you may not have a shrine, but I assure you I can remind you quite often of how wonderful I think you are.”
Quirking a brow, the candidate pinned a disbelieving green stare upon the boy as he spoke, clearly in disagreement. Holding that skeptical expression, the harper shook her head, crossing her arms over one of his shoulders and resting her chin on them. “I beg to differ.” She said dryly, watching him with a pointed look on her face. “I’m certain many people see how kind you are, even if they are too jealous to admit what an amazing person is before them.” A smile curving her lips, Raelwyn tilted her head and laid her cheek against her arm, watching him from the corner of her eye. Somehow, it bothered her when he said such things. Even though she knew he was probably joking for the most part, there was a side of the candidate that balked at the idea of L’mar thinking most people only saw him as trouble. Did he really believe that? Surely he did not, but she was going to fight him tooth and nail every time he said it, just to be certain.
As his soft voice brushed over her, the harper blinked, feeling her heart thump at the gentleness he displayed with her. It was so sweet, Raelwyn had to take a steadying breath, fighting back tears that threatened when the full scope of the day’s occurrences came back to mind. Oh, it was so disappointing, and yet…here with her best friend and her bronze, that ache started to go away. The weyrling said lovely and kind things, and as he spoke, the girl could feel her heart slowly easing, finding it so very effortless to just give in to his words. Her fingers curled against his shirt, holding onto the fabric gently as she slowly raised her green eyes to his. A little smile grew on her lips as he mentioned her ‘large, muscular, brooding chunk of man’, and a laugh escaped her soon after. Blinking once more, feeling her tears slip away, the candidate hesitantly brought her face closer to his, then kissed his cheek softly. “Thanks, L’mar.” Raelwyn said, her voice quiet. “As long as you and Tydus stay with me, I know everything will be alright.”
Her voice gaining in volume, slightly, the candidate laughed once more, shaking her head. “And as to sharing with you, my dear weyrling, naturally, what are best friends for?” Pausing, a frown slowly appeared upon her face, and the girl quirked a brow. “Actually, I think you may have to share with me. At the rate I’m going, you are bound to find that chunk of man before I do. I mean, I’ve never even…” Trailing off, Raelwyn’s face turned bright red, and she ducked her head once more, refusing to meet his eyes. Oh shards, she hadn’t meant to say that! Despite her candidate master’s constant urging, the harper had never been with a guy, in any capacity. Her embarrassment was not in the mention of the act, but at her admittedly lack of experience. After all, what girl in the weyr hit her age without ever even experimenting just a bit? Knowing that he was bound to say…something…Rael tried to plow ahead. “That is…well, I’ve never…I haven’t…I mean I’m still a…” Making a frustrated sound in her throat, the girl continued to stare at his shirt. Again. “I’ve never done…anything. I’ve been in weyrs for turns and turns but I’m still…uh…inexperienced, I guess you could say.” Cringing, the girl finally shut her mouth, appalled at the turn of conversation. Ugh, could she be any more awkward?
Chirping as he was mentioned, the bronze dutifully turned his whirling gaze towards L’mar, listening so very intently to the boy. Rustling his wings, the flitter cheeped occasionally to show he was indeed paying very close attention, and was in deep agreement with the bigwing-bonded. Oh yes, why what fantastic ideas his favorite bigwing-bonded-boy had! The word ‘eat’, and any variation thereof, was quite a large part of his vocabulary, he loooooved to hear it. Chittering excitedly, Tydus leapt into the air and winked out of sight before either of them could even blink. Eat, eat! Eat, and His girl. She needed yummy-meat-food-bits, that was so very clear! Yes, yes. Bursting from between in the weyrhall, the bronze swooped down and grabbed a meatroll in his little talons before two words could be said, then was gone again in a flash. The frigid air surrounded him once more as he emerged from the nothing-cold-dark-place, and he proudly zipped back to the pair, dropping his prize into His girl’s lap. Landing on the bigwing-bonded-boy’s shoulder, he chirped once imperiously, expecting to be praised for his quick and clever actions.
Scrambling to grab the meatroll before it could stain the weyrling’s shirt, Raelwyn burst out laughing, pressing her free hand against her stomach. Shards, she laughed so much it actually hurt. “Oh, Faranth, at least he certainly listens to you.” The harper gasped, shaking her head as she gingerly held the roll. Naturally, it was now freezing cold from having been between, but…it was the thought that counted. Taking a deep breath to regain her composure, the candidate pondered what she was supposed to do with it. Certainly not eat it. “Ah, thank you Tydus. That was very sweet of you.” She said gently, and the bronze puffed out his chest, very proud at that moment.
“Ok, ok, I’ll stop.” The harper grinned wickedly, her eyes shining with mischief as she watched her companion. “If you truly think I have expressed my gratitude fittingly, of course. I would hate to not do so for my hun—oops!” Pressing her lips together, Raelwyn winked to show she was merely joking. As he cuddled her close, the candidate smiled softly, snuggling in against him happily and holding his shirt in her free hand. The weyrling made her feel so warm and cherished, that she again softly thanked her good fortune to have him in her life. She may not have Impressed, but with people who loved her like he did, and her dear bronze who adored her endlessly, there really wasn’t anything she could complain about. Grinning, Rael snuggled her head against his neck, quite happy to stay there as he carried her. “I’m not certain Tydus could like you any more than he already does. He hops at your command as is!” Brandishing the meatroll as proof of her words, the harper chuckled. A warm, happy feeling spread throughout her body at his next words, and she couldn’t help but smile softly. “L’mar, that is so sweet. And you know where you stand with me. Only Tydus is as precious to me as you.”
((Trust me, I knooooow what you mean. XD <3 ))
