Who: Mira, Raelwyn, V'taph. (Open for more, of course)
What: Masters teach apprentices...don't they? o_o;
When: Early evening, after dinner but before sundown.
Where: A currently unoccupied new weyr, ground level; temporarily claimed as a music room, since it has rather lovely acoustics.
Warnings: None?
V'taph surveyed the small number of instruments he'd managed to dig up. Apparently the former WeyrHarper had passed along with much of the Weyr, and they'd packed his things up in a few boxes that had never been sorted out. There were a few drums, a slew of pipes and other woodwinds, a few brass pieces, and a single guitar, as well as an impressive amount of sheet music and empty sheets awaiting music. The saddest part of the find he had bundled up and sent back to the MasterHarper: a sheaf of pages with half-finished songs and new melodies, that their creator would never get to finish.
Tiieh clung tightly to his shoulder as he set about laying out the instruments for his soon-to-be students, eyes whirling in fascination. He was a bit...dubious about this, but it was his duty as a master. He'd heard that there were several young people in the Weyr that had at one point been Harpers, but had given it up and ended up here. He'd sent one of the Weyrbrats as a runner to the few people he knew of, saying he was scheduling a tentative class for this particular evening. He'd see what they were capable of, and what they wished to learn. He wasn't the best teacher, he knew, but he honestly liked seeing young people learn.
While there were several people invited (and possibly more, since word had a tendency of traveling), he knew that two of the girls were very likely to show up. There was a certain bronzerider he knew that he might have cajoled into showing with the promise of no dancing, and he'd heard rumors of another guy who walked around singing as if he were Harper-trained too. The others were a mix of mostly apprentices, with a couple journeyman tossed in as well. And they might possibly attract an audience at some point, as well.
Veneth was curled up on the ledge of the weyr they were using, watching out across the beaches as the sun slowly crept to the water's edge. Spying him from the corner of his eyes, V'taph grinned and began to put together a silly little tune for his mindmate.
"Floating on the ocean's breeze,
The mighty beast cavorts with ease,
The Harper's dragon makes his joy amidst the waaaaaves..."
Veneth gave a quiet rumble of happiness as His began to sing about him. He always loved that, really.
((Mira will come in after. ;) ))
