Weyrling Barracks Weyr
Relatively clean and somewhat sparse, this weyr definitely has the feel of a comfortable, but temporary, space. Knowing that Weyrling training would only last so long, L'cin has tried to keep from personalizing it too much. There are some designs for different glass works tacked up on the walls, as well as several stacks of both parchment and hide with more designs all around. There are a variety of multi-colored glass baubles and sculptures decorating various surfaces, and even more (smaller) ones hanging from the ceiling.
L'cin's areas are definitely an example of organized clutter. It almost seems as if there is simply too many little things and stacks of items to have a place for them all. Some of his stuff just hasn't been cleaned out in awhile and has accumulated in little piles. At least one small tapestry peeks out of one pile. Moving from the Glasscraft Hall to the Silver Cove Candidate Barracks to the Cerulean Candidate Barracks to the Weyrling Barracks got things a bit jumbled up, and he hasn't had much time to sit down and organize since he Impressed. Books are kept in haphazard little stacks along one wall, sculptures and ornaments sitting atop most of them. The thought is that he'll invest in shelving when he moves into his adult weyr on the cliff-face, as he'll need to make sure the dimensions of the case will fit.
He usually keeps the dividers between his personal area and Queth's space open, not usually having much wish to separate himself from his precious mindmate. He usually only closes them when certain teenage urges come to the fore. Or if he's sick, but that thankfully does not happen often.
His own bed has both some old furs and some relatively nicer ones that his sister shared with him, gifts from an old friend of hers apparently. He was going to give his oldest furs into the Weyr cache to be given to people who didn't have any when they came, but Queth instead claimed them for his couch. (He enjoys rubbing against them like a tunnelcat, so they're a bit worn in places.) Above the bed is a small shelf bolted to the wall; it usually has a couple books on it, and hold's L'cin's prized snowglobe.
Most of his furniture is a bit mismatched, having just grabbed a piece here and there when he needed it. His bed and the trunk at the end of it are the standard ones that come in all of the Candidate and Weyrling rooms. The bed is piled with comfy furs, making the generic mattress much softer to lay on. The trunk is usually kept locked and holds the small amount of valuables that he has. He also has a small chest of drawers for normal clothing and a small press for his riding leathers. There's an old and scarred - though still rather sturdy - desk in one corner with a nice writing space, a place for some glows, and a multitude of drawers. Only one drawer is locked, and it has his most current journal in it. There's a wooden chair at the desk, and a wood-and-metal stool nearby (courtesy of S'ren). There are a couple of salvaged small tables scattered around, holding papers and baubles that he simply didn't want to put on the floor. The nicest piece of furniture is a wooden cabinet, which is full of several containers of fine sand, a whole slew of varicolored tinctures, and some tools used for crafting glass.
There are a small number of various objects littering a place near Queth's couch. Sea shells, interesting knots of wood, a few neat-looking stones, and even an old wooden marionette sans strings - they're all kept in a safe little pile. There are also a few multi-colored and multi-sized glass spheres resembling giant marbles. They were failed sculptures that L'cin melded into swirling balls since Queth seemed to like them, and they're sturdy enough to withstand a dragon clinking them around. Brillia and Queth share this little treasure trove, and both of them add to it on occasion.
The room is neither spotless nor dirty, though it would be considered mostly clean. A few pieces of clothing litter the floor here and there, and there's a little dust but no dirt.
- There is a bright red, light bouncy-ball about a foot and a half in diameter rolling about the weyr. Queth often enjoys playing with it, and he and L'cin will sometimes knock it back and forth.
- A large, intricate glass windchime sits carefully off to the side. L'cin had crafted it to hang above Queth's couch shortly after Impression, but Queth got too tall and he had to take it down until they move.
- There is a well-kept and sturdy box hidden under his bed where he keeps all of the letters he got from S'ren and his parents while he was at the Hall. They're pretty much in chronological order with the newest on top, since he would secure them there right after he read them. There are a few newer ones in there from his parents and some friends from the Hall, though some of those are strewn about the other stacks of papers around his weyr.
- In the locked trunk are the following items: the small amount of marks he's saved in a pouch; older, full journals dating back to childhood; a small, jeweled knife that S'ren made for him; a tiny case with some more expensive glasscraft materials, such as gold flakes; and a pouch holding the few various bits of jewelry he has(three sets of small hoop earrings(gold, silver, and a duller silvery metal he figures is steel); a long, dark brown leather cord with a bright blue, teardrop-shaped stone hanging on it; a small, silver cuff bracelet with curling black etchings; and a couple thick, woven bracelets of cloth and leather).
