All the Marks updates are finished. If you posted in our Marks board, you'll see your character's new amount on their board. Please remember that candidates do not make anything from being a candidate and did not get an update because nothing was added. They can still do extra chores and other things, but if you want credit for extra chores, you need to msg Rouxy about it. Congratulations to Tovsk for catching gold Rozsk! Her clutch will be on the sands within the next little bit as we're going by the initial date of the run rather than the completion date for maturing of the eggs. Be on the lookout for wher candidates! Vicarious Vivacity is here and ready for your entertainment! Please to be making your way to the troupe's various performance areas in the jungle and on the beach!! This might be a good time for any of our various crafts people to earn a few extra marks by setting up their wares nearby one of these performance areas, or our harpers in training to test their skill for a crowd and maybe a token amount of tips from happy weyrpeople. New Chores are still up and ready for our Weyrlings and Candidates, be sure to attend. Gold Trith will be rising early next month, and we are severely shorthanded on bronzeriders to represent the Weyr as potential Weyrleaders! A few more experienced brownriders wouldn't be bad either! We will be opening up a new ongoing referral contest to encourage everyone to invite friends for in game rewards! Look to the next news post for more information as we sort out the rewards, but don't let that stop you from inviting newcomers on in! We will backdate all referrals from this post on, simply have the person you invited mention your name in the character application and you'll get credit! Gossip ContestOur gossip contest is closed, and we had two entries! It was a difficult decision for us, but we did chose, however our runner up will also be receiving a prize for participation! Now, on to the gossip in the following post!!!

1st Place Entry
The moon was riding high and the kitchens were nearly empty. The kitchen drudge, Kavvi, was just finishing up the last of her chores, her eyes darting about as she searched for someone…expected. Just as she straightened, putting away the last pot, a laundress entered the dimly-lit room, a bundle of clothing in her arms for the kitchen staff. Grinning, Kavvi quickly bustled over, helping the girl with her burden.
“Thanks, Kav.” The laundress said, sighing with respite as she was relieved of the load.
“Long night, eh Leywin?” The drudge replied, plopping down at a nearby table. The warm kitchen held only she and the laundress, for the rest of the staff had finally gone to bed. Eyes raking the room, assuring herself that she and Leywin were indeed alone, Kavvi leaned forward and tapped the table with her forefinger. “You know, honey, as a kitchen drudge I’ve heard it all, But Faranth help me if I didn’t hear the worst thing today!”
Eyes widening, the laundress sat down beside Kavvi, leaning toward her conspiratorially. “Oh, do tell!”
Taking a deep breath, the kitchen drudge nodded and replied, “Well, now, between you and me, I heard it from my friend’s sister’s cousin’s aunt that a new wher candidate just arrived from Southern, and honey…he’s a…you know.” Coughing, Kaavi made a chopping motion toward her nether regions, giving her companion a pointed look as she did.
Frowning, Leywin stared at her blankly. “What, he’s got a sword? So, doesn’t everyone?”
Sighing, shaking her head, the drudge glared at her. “No, you wherry.” Kavvi hissed, rolling her eyes at her friend’s confusion. “He’s a…I mean he ain’t got a…” Pointing downward, Kav tried to make her understand.
“Oh…OH!” Comprehension dawned upon the laundress’s face, a blush reddening her cheeks. “He’s a…he’s a eunuch!” Eyes wide, Leywin gasped. “How did that happen?”
Leaning even closer, Kavvi’s voice dropped a few octaves. “Heard he got himself in deep with the wrong woman. You know the type, night watch, wher handler…well, when he tried to dump her, she, uh…well, apparently she had a knife on her and…” Making a slicing motion, the drudge shuddered. “I guess that kind of thing don’t kill you.”
Leywin gasped again, her hand over her mouth. “Oh shards, that must be why he had to transfer here, didn’t want to run into her again.”
Opening her mouth, the kitchen drudge was about to reply when a booming voice echoed through the room.
“What the FALL are you two doing in here? I think you girls need to get your rears in bed instead of gossiping. Off with you both before I give you stable duty!” The headwoman snapped, glaring at the pair of them.
Squeaking in surprise, the drudge and laundress jumped up, practically running from the kitchen. As they parted, Leywin shook her head and whispered, “Poor man. Wonder if it still hurts?”
2nd Place Entry
The kitchen girl that L'mar always batted his long... luxurious... lovely lashes at came into the kitchen one morning with the freshest piece of gossip off of the bowl. Cally usually came in each morning, ready to serve klah as well as inform the rest of the weyrfolk what all she had discovered the previous night, but it usually wasn't this juicy. Leaning in, she divulged her news to the first member of the kitchen staff, and then the next, and then the next. After that, she didn't say a thing, but let the others do the work for her. Within the next candlemark, the kitchen was abuzz with the word, until Cally walked by a pair of weyrfolk.
"Did you hear? Two of our weyrlings are related- brother and sister," a stout, older girl told one of the friendly weyrboys.
He merely shrugged it off. "Not all that unusual. We're all related, somewhere down the line, most of the 'brats are." But his friend shook her head, eager to protest.
"No, no, these two are from a different Weyr. And anyways, they share the same mother and father. But the real story is that they're both new here, and they didn't come together. In fact, they don't even know about one another. Long-lost siblings, reunited without even knowing it!"
Another girl came up, grinning widely, having overheard their conversation. "Not just siblings, I hear. Twins."
The boy groaned loudly. "Please tell me they still don't know about one another, if they're twins. If we have another S'renandL'cin relationship my ears will bleed," he groused.
"Well, they're both greenrider weyrlings, for one thing. So hopefully we'll be safe from the S'renandL'cin."
The first girl laughed. "Greens? No, they'll be worse!"
"What are their names, then? Do we know them?"
The original girl shrugged, and so the second stepped in. "Apparently the brother's that troublemaker- L'mar. Faranth save us if his twin's anything like him. Her name's something like Lyelle, or Lella, or something."
Cally had been about to join the conversation when one of the main kitchen staffers came along and began yelling at her gossiping weyrfolk to get back to their jobs. Side-stepping the angry woman, she idly went back to her chopping, grinning from ear to ear. She wasn't sure about the twin-part- shells, she wasn't even sure about the sibling-part- but she did know that one of their only two female green weyrling's and their resident prankster shared a striking resemblance. She also knew that both hailed from Ista, and that both had a brother or sister, respectively, whom they hadn't seen in many Turns. It all made sense, didn't it? Well, either way, it made for good stories.
Congratulations to both of our Gossip winners!
