Character:
Name: Mu
Age: 12 (Early Spring)
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Most likely heterosexual, but she’s very young.
Occupation: Weyrbrat
Description: There is nothing particularly outstanding about Mu’s appearance. She is a young girl and, thus, has not developed fully. She has a normal height to her, but she is slowly starting to grow closer to 5’. She is very skinny and lanky, not having any of the definition her father had. She is slightly pale in coloration since her father so often kept her in the Lower Caverns.
Her hair is a dirty blonde, almost brown color. It is very long and lacks any special shine that would distinguish it as exceptional or beautiful hair. She usually just plaits it on either side of her head so that it doesn’t get in her way. Her eyes, a gentle brown, seem a little too big for her small head but U’ar always said she’d grow into them. Her nose, in comparison, is small and very button-like. U’ar likes to muse that it’s just like Mela’s.
Her hands and feet, like her nose, are tiny, giving her the overall appearance of being fragile with her tiny body. This isn’t helped by her general tendency to frown. It is not that she is always sad, she just doesn’t tend to smile a whole bunch because of the past.
Personality: Mu is definitely the quiet type. Between moving from Weyr to Weyr and her mother dying and her father withdrawing, she herself withdrew, making her very few friends. It is not that she is unfriendly. She is a very sweet girl who loves nothing more than to help someone out. She just missed out on critical social skills at a young age because of her mourning.
She likes to sit in the library as much as possible and read whatever scrolls she can get her hands on. There is a curious nature to her and, if she wasn’t afraid of angering her father, she would probably get into trouble. Instead, she respects her father and keeps her curiosities in check.
Now that they have settled in Cerulean, Mu has tried to open up more and make friends. She’s found it slightly difficult as a lot of the other Weyrbrats are much younger than her and, as she is already fairly mature for her age, they don’t amuse her. She has spent much more time talking to the crèche workers, but they often don’t take her seriously. She tries not to let it frustrate her and, instead, hopes that her father will let up and allow her to become a Candidate soon.
History:
Mu was born out of flightlust. Her parents, U’ar and Mela were in deep love and they rejoiced at her birth. As a small child, she was friendly and happy and always had a certain intelligence about her. She loved to play with the brown and green dragons bonded to her parents as well as the other children in the Lower Caverns. Unlike many of the other Weyrbrats, she was in constant contact with the fatherly U’ar and caring Mela. Though she was too young to understand it, she was a lucky girl.
But, when she was still very young, Mela fell sick. She asked her dad constantly why mommy had to stop visiting. U’ar never had the heart to tell her the truth. That Mela was slowly dying. At five turns, Mela passed away. Mu didn’t hear for a whole day. No one would tell the young girl. But she knew something was wrong. Eventually, one of the workers told her. She hid in the corner and cried. When U’ar came, the two simply embraced. They didn’t need to say how horrible they both felt.
Mu soon began to reflect her father. He had withdrawn in mourning and Mu began to too. Her friends stopped playing with her. They were too young to understand the girl needed time. And soon, they moved. They moved from Weyr to Weyr, searching for the stability and happiness that they needed. But they were becoming happier. Time and each other was all they need. Finally, they settled at Cerulean.
Here, Mu tried to make friends, but they were much too young for her. She, instead, just began to hope that her father would allow her to be a Candidate. But with all the horrible attacks, she doubted that would happen.
Fun Facts: From reading so much, her eye sight is not 20/20. She’s in no way blind, but her vision is not the sharpest. Mu is very fond of Odyth and, when she was younger, used to sleep cuddled up to him. Odyth has a fondness for her as well.
Type: Dragon
Name: Trivaruth
Color: White (F0EAD6)
Age: Newly-Hatched (Mid-Summer)
Hatching Info: 10th out of the White Tea Egg, Tasseography Clutch, Trith’s by Jorguth.
Telekinetic Rating: 112
Bonuses/Minuses: (Base Roll 94) + (White +13) + (SECRET +5)
Specialization: +3 to each skill
Breakdown
Strength: ? (? + 3)
Precision: ? (? + 3)
Endurance: ? (? + 3)
Concentration: ? (? + 3)
Description: A beautiful, striking white in color, this tiny dragon will surely cause a bit of a fuss. As she grows, her hide will develop a permanent pearlescent glow to it, and when freshly-oiled one might be reminded of the reflective, rainbow sheen of the last known white dragon, Ruth. From a distance, the color will seem to encompass the entirety of her hide without variation, but closer inspection will give lie to that. The hide around each of her claws is a light tan color that will fade up into the white. Her limbs and tails sport a small amount of thick, very light tan stripes as well. Some of the finer points of her facial features will also show just a hint of this coloring, accenting it beautifully. In addition to her coloring, another physical oddity presents itself in this dragon: starting right at the end of her torso, her tail is split into two equally formed tails, each about half the thickness of normal, but just as long.
Trivaruth is downright diminutive in size compared to her clutchsiblings, though she might stand just a touch smaller than some of the smallest greens on Pern. At hatching, her muscles will not have developed fully and she will find it difficult to move even short distances, and holding herself up for any length of time will quickly become tiresome. However, with careful care, plenty of nourishment, and a fair amount of strengthening exercises, she will quickly gain the necessary muscle to function normally. The first two months will be a sketchy time, as her immune system will be as weak as the rest of her, but with vigilant care she will pull through.
After the first eight months, she will begin to pack on bulk to her small frame, developing a very athletic build. Despite the muscle bulk and athleticism, she will still be very elegantly-shaped. Between her coloring and the smooth shaping of her small body, she will be a very beautiful dragon indeed, and it would not be a stretch to imagine that she would receive a decent amount of attention for it.
Personality: Never before and never again will any have met a being so kind, loving, and forgiving as this dragon. A gentle soul of the purest kind, she has an abounding love for all things in the world, from dragons to humans to trees to the winds off the ocean - but nothing will ever even compare to the depth of feeling she has for her Rider. Never will her Rider know loneliness while Trivaruth is there in her mind, and even the pains and sorrows of the world will be greatly lessened by the warmth and genuine positivity flowing from her through their bond. Though very shy, she will be the first to brush the mind of someone in distress, sharing with them a soft place in her enormous heart. While she will be too timid to seek such things out, she absolutely loves all manner of affection - and cuddling especially - and will happily curl up with any being who seeks such. There is an iron will within this dragon - that which first allowed her to survive her hatching long enough to be united with Hers, and will continue to resolutely see her through even the toughest of times - making her a beacon of hope and joy to others.
It is nearly impossible to gain a permanent place in her ‘bad book,’ and any who manage to venture themselves there will be viewed only with a disappointed sadness that would break all but the hardest of hearts. Making amends, while not necessarily simple, will definitely be encouraged by Trivaruth, as while she is not a pushover she also does not enjoy being at odds with others. While it is infinitely difficult to truly anger this dragon, she does have a deeply hidden side of her that will be very openly indignant if any even threaten harm upon those she has come to care for, and she will defend her Rider with every ounce of strength in her minute body.
Eerily intelligent, this dragon will have a scarily keen memory for everything that occurs around her. However, despite her intellect, she will get easily confused by a good many things and will often look to her Rider for an explanation of such. If her Rider doesn’t know, then she will spend a great deal of time fretting and working up the courage to ask another, her inimitable curiosity warring with the immense shyness within her. To those she becomes comfortable enough around - and especially her Rider - it will come to be the consensus that this dragon’s favorite word must simply be ‘why?’ She will ask it quite often in an attempt to gain an understanding of the world around her, as she will become baffled quite easily.
It is possible that a goodly portion of Trivaruth’s inability to understand many of the instances occurring around her stem from a general confusion about herself. Her mismatched physicality and genetics will lead her to questions about her own gender identity and eventual sexuality, and even with the aide of her Rider it will likely bother her for a fair amount of time. There will be long moments spent surreptitiously studying the other dragons of the Weyr - both elders and those from her clutch - trying to figure out just what is generally expected of her kind while attempting to harmonize that with what she herself feels.
Fun Facts:
- While physically female, Trivaruth is actually genetically male. Physiologically, female is the default gender, and while she finished developing mentally and in overall physical proportioning, she never began producing the hormone to acquire male attributes. If she had developed correctly, she would have been a male brown. She is as functionally female as a green, but will never Rise as she does not have such cycles. While this will not affect her ability to take a weyrmate, whether she has any independent interest in such activity remains to be seen; she may or may not attempt to give chase in Flights, attempt to attract a male, or have any interest in the physical realm whatsoever. Irregardless, she is sterile.
