Who: K’ron/Keiko/Open
What: Chores-Infirmary Duties
When: Afternoon after lunch
Where: Infirmary
Warnings: Whiny bluerider.
Winging in above the infirmary, Calzanth slowed, backwinging near the entrance and landing easily upon the ground. Turning his head, the brown watched his rider dismount with ease, grabbing a neckridge to steady himself before jumping down, landing slightly crouched upon the ground. His dragon was huge specimen for his color, and it wasn’t exactly a short drop. Rising, the weyrling slapped his partner on the leg affectionately, smiling at him. “Thanks, Cal.” The boy said, turning slightly to gaze at the infirmary. He wasn’t looking forward to this particular chore, but he never slacked when it came to his duties. No matter how distasteful they were.
Of course, Mine. The brown rumbled, backing up a few steps before tensing his muscles. I think I shall take the small one to the beach with me while you are working. We can play in the big waters until you are done. Calzanth titled his large wedge-shaped head to the side, reaching out for the little green that belonged to His. A soft mental touch was his reply, and soon enough, Yumi blinked from between before the dragon, trilling in excitement.
Smiling, K’ron waved to his dragon and little flit before turning, approaching the infirmary with a slight frown. Behind him, he could hear the heavy beats of his brown’s wings, then a slight brush of cold air as Calzanth and Yumi betweened. Upon entering, the weyrling was greeted by the site of a nearly-packed infirmary, the result of Silver Cove’s attack. An unwelcome memory began to plague the boy, but he stubbornly pushed it away, refusing to remember what he had done that day, and who had been lost. Swallowing, K’ron approached one of the healers, politely inquiring after his duties. With a frazzled nod, the woman led him to a corner where a large fire was built, a boiling pot of water above it. He was to sterilize vials and bottles, which was quite an easy chore. Nodding respectfully, the brownweyrling took a pair of tongs and began his work methodically, enjoying the vivid pictures Calzanth provided every few moments. It seemed he and Yumi had found a few wild flits to play with, and were enjoying their afternoon.

“NO! I absolutely refuse to go!” The girl wailed, throwing her hands up on the air dramatically as she paced in her room. Jazzy cocked his head to the side and whined, ears drooping at the obviously foul mood his mistress was in. Eyes softening as she caught the noise, the new blueweyrling sighed, slumping down on her bed moodily. “Why me?” She groaned, gazing mournfully at the lovely, attractive blue that approached.
Crooning lowly, Absinth nuzzled her face, the vivid patch around his eye turned towards her. Poor Keiko-love. He cooed, pressing closer so his head rested upon her shoulder and curling his tail around her ankle affectionately. It just isn’t fair, just so not fair at all. The dragonet agreed soothingly, sending his bonded loving, calming thoughts.
Throwing her arms around her beautiful dragon, Keiko heaved a great sigh. “Like, this totally has to be some sick joke. I so can’t work in the infirmary! I totally barf at the sight of blood alone, and I can’t stand sick people. It’s like…so gross!” The weyrling continued to rant for a few moments more, but she eventually stopped, sighing one last time before pulling away from her blue. Staring into his whirling eyes, Keiko smiled, leaning forward until their noses touched. “But…I like, guess I have to go. They’ll hold both of us back if I don’t!” Scratching Absinth’s color eyeridges lovingly, the girl finally bounced to her feet, slipping on some sandals before she raced out the door. “Bye babies, be good!” She called, instantly sobering as soon as she was out of the weyrling barracks.
Ugh, infirmary chores! What the shards were they thinking, making her do something like that? Her dad had been a healer, and she hated his job desperately, always avoiding his office like the plague. Sick people made her skin crawl, and blood…oh Faranth, blood. It made her stomach turn. How was she supposed to work in an infirmary like that? With a scowl, the weyrling entered the room, already feeling nauseous as the smells reached her nose. Approaching a healer, Keiko followed her dutifully as the woman led her towards one of the beds. Apparently, she needed an assistant for the day to help her while she changed bandages and bedsheets. The blueweyrling swallowed again, trying to fight against the inevitable. However, as soon as the healer pulled back the first layer of bandages and she saw the blood staining the white cloth, the girl shot off, darting outside in a blink and emptying her guts right by the door.
Keiko-love! Absinth called, worry in his mindvoice. Are you ok?
Coughing, the girl nodded. Yes…I’m fine. I’m totally fine, don’t worry, baby. Straightening, she wiped her mouth slowly, glancing up as she caught movement from the corner of her eye. Of course, the woman had marched right out after her, obviously upset that the blueweyrling had run out on her, but as soon as she saw what had happened, the healer promptly led Keiko back inside and to a corner where a boy was dipping vials and bottles in a pot of boiling water. Wisely, the woman switched their chores, giving the girl the tongs and telling the brownweyrling he had a new chore for the afternoon.
Watching the boy step away, Keiko hesitated for a moment before she called to him. “I’m like…sorry about that.” She said, still feeling a bit sick. “I can’t…I totally can’t deal with blood.”
Smiling amiably, the brownrider shook his head, patting her on the head as he stepped away. “Don’t worry about it. I don’t mind.” With that, K’ron went to helping the woman with bandages and bedsheets, while Keiko had to smile.
Yea, Cerulean kicked Benden’s butt.
