Past RP Experience:I’ve been rping for……God knows how long. 6 years? Something like that. It’s been a little while because of school, but once I get in the swing of things, I should be good. I won’t post anything unless I’m happy with the length or desperate, haha. My most recent roleplays were on Dalibor.
Character:
Name: Cheko
Age: 12
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Too young to really care. Most likely heterosexual
Occupation: Candidate
Description: Cheko could easily be described as… a little scarecrow. He’s not that tall, only about 4’ 5”, and he’s very small and scrawny, weighing in at about 70 pounds. He’s the type of kid that can eat whatever he wants and have it all burn into energy. If you see him without a shirt, his ribs can be seen ever so slightly, even though he has never faced real hunger. His arms didn’t seem to get the memo, however, that the rest of the body was going to be small and short and are a bit longer than what looks natural on his body. Everyone says he’ll grow into them.
His hair is shaggy and straw colored. It is often falling in his face or being swept to and fro from the wind. He refuses to let scissors come near it though, so it is to be expected. He mainly keeps it long because people want it short. As long as he can brush it out of his bluish-green eyes, he’s fine. His eyes, when seen through his hair convey his glee and mischievous ways.
His face is often dotted with freckles and his cheeks are often rosy, two things he’s not fond of. But he usually doesn’t let it bother him. If people coo about how cute he is, he can always just play a practical joke on them later.
His clothing is often mismatched in every possible way. His usual ensemble consists of a hand-me-down shirt that is at least three sizes too big. It will often hang off one shoulder, revealing how skinny and bony he is. This is paired with a vest that should become a hand-me-down for a seven-turn old. It is buttoned over the shirt, causing the shirt to bust out of the arm holes. One of the buttons on the vest is missing, leaving an awkward hole in the middle of his chest. The pants do fit him, but have plenty of patches due to all his falls and fights. They are tucked into tightly laced boots. The effect of the different sized clothing creates a very scarecrow/awkward effect that just adds to his overall appearance.
Personality: Cheko is…cheeky to put it simply. He is rife with boyish attitude and enjoys every second of it. Whether he is running around or playing a practical joke, there is usually a huge grin plastered on his face. He is rarely seen not smiling which makes it hard to tell when he’s up to something.
Cheko is very imaginative which is how he’s able to be so convincing about his imaginary fire lizard. This also helps with coming up with ways to cause chaos or at least a little mischief. Since he’s so imaginative and can come up with all these ideas, it leads to him having problems with taking orders. He’s rebellious to everyone, but in a leader-ly way. He’s able to give the orders, but not take them.
While he doesn’t respond well to authority, he tries not to be rude. He’s simply young and wants to do his own thing. He’s not one to pout or throw a temper tantrum. He’s more of a “get even” sort of kid.
Behind all this glee and mischief, there’s a slightly darker side. Cheko grew up very lonely. He started all this mischief out of need for attention. The more attention he got, the more fun misbehaving became. Now he does is simply because he loves it- he feels as if he’s able to do anything he wants.
History: Cheko’s birth was definitely accidental. The young, newly graduated blue rider, C’lo, was stretching his new-found freedom and went to visit Bitra Hold. It was there when he met the young, 15-turn old Heka who felt she was a little older than everyone else thought she was. When the big, impressive dragonrider showed interest in her, she set out to prove that she was a big girl. And that is how Cheko came about.
Though Heka was close to getting rid of Cheko before he was born, she was convinced to have him. The minute he was old enough, though, she handed him off to C’lo, demanding he be kept at the Weyr. C’lo handed him off to the Lower Caverns and visited occasionally. And for awhile, Cheko grew up like any Weyrbrat. As soon as he could walk, he began to act up. He would fall on purpose and scream until he got attention. He would throw his food or purposefully make a mess after someone had just cleaned.
It received the desired effect. At five turns, however, no matter how he acted up, it got significantly less attention. There were more and more teenagers arriving at the Weyr and there was a buzz going around- there was going to be a Hatching. Though Cheko didn’t quite understand this, he learned that most of the excitement was happening at the hot Sands that he wasn’t supposed to go near. Well, that was silly. He wanted to go there.
He watched one day as the eager Candidates went to Touch the eggs that were now hard on the Sands. Now, why could they go? He waited until later that evening and walked confidently to the Sands. He peeked his head around into the Cavern. There was a big gold-looking dragon that seemed sleepy. Living in a Weyr, he wasn’t very much afraid of dragons and so he strode right in. The Gold didn’t seem to notice so he walked toward the closest egg, a smallish one with brown swirls in its shell.
He reached out a hand and touched it. It felt so cool and warm at the same time. A grin broke out onto his face and put his other hand on it and then pushed his whole body against it. The he felt it move. He jumped off to see it tilt and hit into the one very closely behind it.
“Shards” he said, uttering his first curse word at the tender age of five turns. The disturbance of her eggs, coupled with the audible curse, brought the Queen to full attention. She let out a roar but before she could get up, the clutch sire, a brown called Poloth with a deep muddy hide and patches of taupe on his body, swooped down, roaring at the boy.
Luckily, both clutch parents were restrained mentally by their riders as both crecheworkers and an extremely angry C’lo arrived to usher the boy off the Sands. Neither of the eggs, luckily, were harmed…as well as Cheko knew at least. The next day, arrangements were being made for Cheko to return to his mother, someone Cheko had barely ever met. He was a little preoccupied though. He began sitting next to the fireplace at all times. He refused to move. He would only leave for a little while to get food and return there to eat it. He even slept curled up on the warm stone.
The day he was supposed to leave, he ran to the kitchen urgently, shouting how he needed some “sharding meat”. He took the meat and eagerly returned to the fireplace. That’s when Polo was born. The little firelizard looked an awful lot like the clutch sire that had been on the Sands that night. As more and more learned of the imaginary fire lizard, they grew concerned that the boy was traumatized by the brown. But Cheko loved the “firelizard” and waved at everyone, especially the upset brown, as Hogarth took off with C’lo, Cheko, and a brown firelizard that only one boy could see.
At Bitra Hold, Cheko received even less supervision. Heka really wanted nothing to do with her son and often pushed him off onto others while she did what she wanted, having gained no maturity in those five turns. It didn’t take long for Cheko to rally up his own group of mischief makers- The Knights of Polo. Though none of the other kids could see the fire lizard, they thought all of Cheko’s schemes were great fun and when Cheko blamed Polo, none of them usually got any blame.
This went on for many turns. As Cheko grew, his vocabulary grew as well. He had one of the foulest mouths in the Hold, but usually only did it to elicit a reaction. When that started to wear off, Cheko discovered another fun trick- alcohol. At ten turns, Cheko tasted his first sip of wine…and his second, and third, etc. At ten, Cheko got raging drunk, running around and creating such a mess of everything, the Lord Holder was close to killing him. However, he was just threatened. He got negative attention for fortnights afterwards. It was the greatest feeling Cheko had ever had.
He lived there for a little while longer. He was Candidate age, well, young Candidate, now. Benden Weyr, however, would not allow him to even Stand. They saw his behavior had not yet improved. He even still had the silly imaginary firelizard. No, he could rot in Bitra for all they cared. Luckily for Cheko(and Bitra), a dragon looking to help out a new, moved Weyr with new candidates came by. The rider and her green were warned, but the green insisted that they bring the boy to Cerulean. He had potential. They didn’t know what they were getting into.
Fun Facts: Cheko is not necessarily insane and hates it when people tell him Polo isn’t real. They are obviously just ignorant.
Bonded Critter(s):
Type: Firelizard
Name:Polo
Color: Brown
Age: 7 Turns
Description: Though Polo cannot be seen by anyone other than Cheko, due to the fact that he’s imaginary, Cheko’s vision for him is fairly vivid and it never waivers except for his size in the early turns, though the little boy was just describing the firelizard as growing up.
Now that the “brown” is fully grown, he is a fairly average size for a brown firelizard. He is just skirting being 2 feet long. The only thing that Cheko says is out of proportion is Polo’s wings which are slightly large. Cheko used to comment with a laugh that it tripped the flit up occasionally and it would be a comical sight. (Too bad no one else could see it.) The firelizard, Cheko happily reports, has gotten used to his large wings and is now an adept flier. He hopes to chase a female soon.
His coloration is a deep mud sort of brown. The color is fairly even throughout except for a few light patches that could be described as a taupe. There is a small patch on the left side of his nose and on the tip of his tail. His underbelly is mostly taupe as well.
Personality: For an imaginary creature, Polo certainly has a lot of personality. He loves being in on Cheko’s schemes and will “help him out”. To Cheko, he helps a lot, but being imaginary, he doesn’t ever do anything. He is fiercely loyal to Cheko as well. This, Cheko will explain, is a big reason why no one ever feels him- because he is usually sitting on Cheko’s shoulder.
The brown tends to be a scapegoat for Cheko often. He doesn’t mind taking the blame for Cheko’s shenanigans for he finds it great fun and frankly…he doesn’t exist so Cheko is able to decide that Polo is fine with taking the blame.
Fun Facts: none that I can think of…he’s imaginary if you haven’t gotten that yet, haha.
Corydora Blue
Name: Peth
Description – 05026B– This big blue is definitely on the bulky side. His head appears to be almost comically too large for his body and sits on a thick, short neck, but this is mostly caused by the over-large jaw he sports, complete with thick teeth that are needle-sharp. Thick-browed and wicked looking, this dragon looks like one of the most vicious, angry brutes a person could encounter. His wings are a bit on the small side, and to all outward appearances he somewhat resembles a Wher, up to and including some slight body shape differences that will likely make him as agile on the ground as his smaller cousins. Luckily, his flight is strong and sure, belying his stumpy look. His bulk makes him less agile than other, thinner blues, but his size and strength will give him a tremendous endurance boost.
His coloration is comprised mainly of dark, mottled shades of blue – a combination that will guarantee that he can all but vanish in a nighttime sky. This color lays over the entirety of his body, save for a slash of more saturated, cerulean blue that goes diagonally across his awkward face, climbing and engulfing one of his thick, short headknobs. A similar slash crosses his left hindquarter, but it will likely not detract from his blending in qualities. If anything, despite the ungainly tank look of this dragon, he is stealthier than most, using his ease of movement on the ground well.
Personality – In sharp contrast to his terrifying appearance, there is no sweeter creature than this dragon. Friendly, loving, and gentle, he only wants to be liked by everyone, seeking friendship and new companions among dragons and humans alike. As if oblivious to his looks, this big, blue sweetheart will bounce like a cute Weyrling up to new people and dragons, only to be hurt and confused if the object of his attention decides to shun him. His unfortunate shaping is likely to give him many rejections though, as dragons are uncomfortably reminded of their relationship to their smaller, flightless Wher cousins when looking at him.
When rejected by someone, he will unerringly return to his bonded, seeking solace from the hurts of the world. He’s not unintelligent, but he lacks a good deal of common sense, unable to put two and two together to get four. Instead, he puts two and two together to get…pie. He easily jumps to radical conclusions that are usually wrong, but they tend to be good-natured conclusions rather than casting a negative light on the situation – any situation – without further investigation.
