Who: Candidate Raelwyn ((Open to absolutely anyone!)) What: Feeding herself and her flit…Being bored. :3 Where: Weyrhall Warnings: Her flit is annoyingly jealous. XD
The young candidate sat at an unoccupied table in the weyrhall, picking at her fish and occasionally handing small bites to her little firelizard. Afternoon free time was typically enjoyable, but today the Weyr seemed to be moving slower than usual, and all of the other candidates were either busy or nowhere to be found. Raelwyn wasn’t exactly sure where on Pern they had all managed to disappear to! Of course, she would also have liked to help a weyrling or rider scrub their dragons clean, too, but to be honest she didn’t know any of them well enough to ask.
Raelwyn was completely and utterly in love with dragonkind, from green to gold. She cherished spending time with them whenever she could, as much as a candidate was able, anyway. Tydus, her beloved little bronze firelizard, had been the best gift she could ever receive; a miniature dragon to lavish attention on. Of course, the flit was an incredibly jealous thing, especially around men. The way Ty saw it, HE was the only man in Rael’s life, thank you very much, and anyone else could just keep walking.
The girl smiled slightly as she held up another piece of fish, watching Tydus, snatch it greedily from her fingers. “You are never full, are you?” She remarked softly, rubbing the small flit’s ridges. Looking up at his girl, the bronze trilled lovingly and shoved his head against her hand, looking for more attention. Stroking Ty absently, the gold candidate then noticed a figure move past. Glancing up, Raelwyn saw the tables beginning to fill up a bit more, startled to see how much time had passed. Had she been sitting here that long? The candidate tried to look around for someone she knew, but an insistent shove against her hand told her Ty was still hungry. Shaking her head in exasperation and grinning, Rael went back to feeding him the rest of her fish, hoping someone would sit at her table soon.

F’ren was finally on his way to get some food. His dragon’s needs always came before his needs, but it wasn’t much fun to oil Eneth when his stomach was rumbling. He considered eating in the kitchen but then thought better of it. He would only be in the kitchen workers way now. Better to check up on them later when they didn’t have as much to do.
After getting some food, F’ren looked around for someone to sit with in the hall. A flash of bronze caught his eye and F’ren immediately made his way toward the bronze firelizard and his owner. He didn’t often have the opportunity to be close to firelizards because of Eneth, who detested the little creatures. He studied the girl with the firelizard. He’d seen her around but had never interacted with her. She was pretty enough he supposed and her eyes were really beautiful. The idea to sit with the pair started to appeal to him more and more. As of late F’ren hadn’t been paying much attention to the other sex, he had been preoccupied with his dragon. Well, Eneth was asleep so this would change now.
Coming to a stop at the pair’s table, F’ren smiled widely at the girl. “Hi, mind if I sit here?” Turning to the firelizard, F’ren bent a little down. “And what might be the name of this handsome fellow?”

Raelwyn blinked and looked up quickly as a male voice reached her ears, a smile spreading across her lips automatically. The gold candidate was an outgoing person through and through, and she absolutely loved to meet new people. Of course, upon a quick look at the newcomer, her green eyes widened slightly. He was...gorgeous, to say the least. He also looked slightly familiar, as if she had seen him somewhere important before. Ah, but where? 'Oh, of course' Rael thought, eyeing his shoulder knots. 'Weyrling.' Now she remembered; he had Impressed a bronze.
"Of course you can. Please do sit." The girl replied, smiling in return. He had a beautiful smile. Turning her attention to the little bronze at her side, she quickly put a firm hand on his back, reminding him to behave. "This is Tydus. He's still young and silly right now, but he is handsome, isn't he?" Once catching sight of the weyrling inspecting him, the flitter began to chitter indignantly, displeased with both having his dinner interrupted and seeing a male around HIS girl. Pinning his whirling eyes on the boy, Ty spread his small wings and sat, his tail thumping rhythmically like a feline watching something it would like to eat. Rael suppressed a giggle at his display, wondering how long his jealous streak would last.
Focusing her green eyes on the weyrling before her, the girl kept her steadying hand on the firelizard's back so he would keep himself in line. "I'm Raelwyn, a gold candidate." She said, smiling warmly. The candidate wasn't sure why someone as attractive as him wanted to sit with her, but she wouldn't mind making a new friend in a mostly foreign weyr. He also might allow her to help him wash his dragon some evening during her free time. That too would be fun.

F'ren eyed the firelizard enviously. The bronze was indeed handsome and F'ren wished he could have one of those miniature dragons for himself but he couldn't complain, Eneth was better than a thousand firelizards put together and if Eneth didn't want a firelizard - they weren't getting one. "Well of course he's handsome. He's a bronze and everyone knows that they are the best dragons, and firelizards for that matter." F'ren smiled cheekily to let Raelwyn know he was jesting although he thought privately that he was completely right. As much as F'ren wanted to talk to Tydus, the bronze didn't seem inclined to like F'ren. He eyed the firelizard warily, unsure what he had done to upset Tydus.
F'ren raised an eyebrow, "a gold candidate? You certainly have high ambitions. It's nice to meet you Raelwyn - can I call you Rael? I'm F'ren, weyrling to bronze Eneth." Her being a gold candidate certainly changed things. If she actually impressed a queen F’ren needed to be in her good books and in his experience he tended not to be in the good books of girls who had wanted more from him than he could give. He wasn’t certain what Raelwyn was like so maybe it would be safest to just be friends with the candidate. That wouldn’t be so bad, F’ren needed more friends.
F’ren felt his dragon slowly waking up. Trith needs us Mine. The transfer clutch has arrived. Eneth conveyed sleepily. The weyrling eyed his food regretfully, his stomach would have to wait. I’ll meet you at the hatching sands Eneth. F’ren stood up and beckoned for Raelwyn, “Eneth tells me the clutch has arrived. We’re probably all wanted there.” He started walking slowly, waiting for Raelwyn to catch up. If you’re bringing her with you, you better make sure that the firelizard doesn’t come near me. Eneth told F’ren grumpily as he started making his way to the hatching sands.

Raelwyn grinned to herself at the weyrling’s words, very familiar with that typical bronzerider pride. He might have been jesting, but the girl knew deep down he really believed those words beyond just a joking manner. “They are very majestic. Bronzes always make handsome dragons and flits alike.” She agreed, smiling just as playfully as her guest. At that, Tydus, tilted his head to stare at her, chittering happily at the praise he somehow knew was directed at him. The little bronze wasn’t able to express himself the way dragons could, but from the love and bright colors he impressed upon her, the candidate knew he was pleased at their topic of conversation.
Swinging his gaze back to the weyrling, Tydus stepped warily towards him, walking a few steps before once more plopping back on his bottom to stare at the boy. Although generally not a fan of males in general, the small flit was aware that F’ren had just complimented his color somehow, which made him a little friendlier towards him. Not much, but a little. He gave one cheep, ‘testing the waters’, so to speak, watching to see what he would do.
The candidate, keeping one eye on Ty to make sure he was behaving, shook her head a bit, smiling. “I suppose I do, but I was Searched as gold candidate and my mind is set. It’s what I want.” Raelwyn was well aware that golds did not come from every clutch, and many girls would stand to Impress them once one of the precious eggs were laid. However, she knew what she wanted, and she was willing to work for it with all she had in her until she could no longer stand. “And of course you can.” The girl added, still smiling. Everyone she liked called her Rael. “I’m pleased to meet you as well, F’ren, and please pass my regards along to Eneth as well. Well, if he is awake.” She grinned, well aware of how much time weyrlings liked to spend sleeping.
Suddenly, Tydus gave a loud chirp, excitedly leaping from the table to make loops above the two humans. The flit sent his girl pictures of the Hatching Sands and Trith, as well as impressing a good deal of urgency upon her. Raelwyn easily got the gist of what he was trying to say, but was saved the trouble as her weyrling companion ferried the message along from his dragon. Quickly standing and trotting around the table to catch up with F’ren, Rael smiled excitedly. “I wonder what will hatch from these transfer eggs?” She mused aloud, hurrying to keep pace with the much taller man. Tydus zipped through the air and landed on her shoulder, wrapping his tail around her neck to steady himself.

"Weyrbred huh? I too." It was a relief to F'ren that Rael was weyrbred, he thought that people raised in weyrs were normally easier to deal with than holdbred people. Rael sends her regards. You would probably like her, the firelizard isn't so bad but I think he doesn't like me very much. He's bronze too you know. F'ren was constantly trying to get Eneth to like the miniature dragons as he hoped to get one of his own someday, but the stubborn dragon always let him know in no uncertain terms that those creatures were to be kept far away from him. Bronze or no bronze Mine, keep him away from me, and tell that to Raelwyn. And thank her for her regards. I send mine also.
"Eneth says thank you and he sends his best regards. I should tell you however that he doesn't like firelizards much so it would be wise to keep Tydus away from him. He's normally really nice though and if you want to, I could use a hand sometimes washing him. He grows constantly and it can be tiresome to wash him all the time." F'ren looked questioningly at Rael. He knew from experience that candidates liked to be with dragons as much as they could and he really did need help so enlisting Rael's help would be perfect.
What will hatch from the eggs? F'ren snorted and grinned. "I hope dragons are in these eggs." Then F'ren turned serious for a moment. "Well, I hope they will all hatch healthy and strong dragons. We need those at the moment."
