Who: L'cin, Queth, Brillia, and some adorable little eggs~. (And anyone else who happens by.)
What: Teeny-tiny egg-laying. X3
When: Early morning to...mid-morning/noon?
Where: Hatching Sands. XD
Warnings: Tetchy gold-mamas. X3
((Since I don't know the sire just yet, I didn't specify~. I went by what it says she'd do in her bio for the small bits about her mate. If there's an issue, I'll edit it, of course. ♥))
Sleep. This was a commodity that L'cin hadn't been enjoying much of for the past few weeks. First there was the lack of sleep due to worrying over his apparent behaviour during the Flight...and then there was his birthday that S'ren wouldn't let him sleep much for in the interest of having a party for them both...and then there was a prickly, egg-heavy little gold that was driving him absolutely up a wall. She was constantly hungry, ever so picky about the food, shifty, grumpy, and altogether troublesome. She was lucky he adored her, the finicky little thing.
And then there was the fact that she had all but kidnapped her poor mate from his bonded. Not that the flit seemed to mind so much. Queth was delighted to act as a restplace for his little queen, but they would still sometimes choose to curl up in L'cin's furs instead. Which made sleeping there awkward.
If having a pregnant female around was this bad, he wasn't sure he ever wanted a weyrmate. Or...a female one, at least. Since those kind could get pregnant. ...Yeah.
But! Today - today he was blissfully asleep. He had convinced Queth to let him bunch up some furs on his side and the flits had taken to that nicely. With his bed unoccupied and the golden-one satisfied for now, he was happily dreaming away.
Brillia, however, was having a terrible time staying asleep. It was hard enough to get comfy while egg-laden, but that cramp that had started...sometime...was definitely not helping. Peeling open one bleary eye as it happened again, she swiveled her little head around and chirped at her belly in annoyance. Go away, cramp! But oh! There is was again, and it sorta hurt! She was just beginning to work up a good nattering to her stomach when she felt it. Ohhhhh, so that's what it was!
Trilling happily, she picked her heavy little self up and winged over to Hers's bed and didn't quite land where she wanted to. It was a bit more difficult than flying had been before, and that was annoying too. Crawling up to Hers's face, she nudged it with her little head and cooed at him to wake up. When he just smiled and let out a happy little sleep-noise, she got more annoyed. Crawling up on top of his chest, she plopped down and began pawing at his cheek, letting that nice nattering she'd built up before out at her twoleg-bonded instead of her egg-belly.
Suddenly, L'cin was having a much harder time breathing. And something was tickling his cheek. He went to push it away, but his hand touched something...warm? Creaking one eye slowly open, he began to register that the fire-lizard on his chest was scolding him for...something. "Brilllll, it's earlyyyyy. Go back to sleep," he whined. He closed his eyes again, trying futilely to pet her back into slumber. He could sleep through the weight on his chest if he tried.
But then she had to go and start sending pictures his way. It was hard to understand, partly due to his brain being sleep-addled. Finally, she sent him a picture of a gigantic Trith with the transfer clutch, and it clicked. Clutching! Doing the math in his head - albeit slowly, not being completely awake just yet, even with that revelation - he figured that it was around the right time for it. "Okay, love. I'm up, I'm up. Let me throw on trousers, please?"
She didn't understand everything he said, but got that he was awake now. Which was good. She trilled loudly, waking her mate and Herbigbrown, and let them know the news. And then she shooed her mate to go get His, because the eggs were coming! His could help watch her eggs too, right?
L'cin managed to stumble into a pair of trousers, foregoing the shirt simply because he didn't think the imperious little one would delay enough to allow him the luxury. And he was right, for he'd barely finished the ties when he was called again. "Okay, where to." But she just sat there, looking at him. "...What? We need to go to...wherever it is you wanted to Clutch." She chirped at him and spread her wings, waddling closer along the mattress.
Taking pity on her sleepy humanpet, she sent him another picture. "Oh, c'mon, you're going to make me-" He sighed in defeat, wiping the last of sleep from his eyes. "Fine. Come here, lovely." He went over and picked her up, cradling her gently to his chest. Her little claws prickled a bit, but he ignored it for now. "Now where?"
And when she showed him a picture of sand, he felt like hitting his head on something. "What sand, darling? The beach? The docks?" Which was a bad place, since they might get trampled there, so he was sort of relieved when she chirped negatively. But how was he going to...aha! "...Point me?"
Crooning affection at her brilliant bonded, she nuzzled his face and then pointed her head in a direction. And L'cin followed each new direction - winding though they were, for when did fire-lizards ever take a straight path? Until they arrived at...the Hatching Sands?
L'cin groaned. Great. Hopefully the Weyrwoman would understand that his queen thought she deserved to Clutch there and wouldn't kill him. 'Q? When you finish waking, would you mind bespeaking Trith? And Weyrwoman Samhara, if Trith says it's okay?'
Okay, mine, was the sleepy reply. He'd come watch over his little one in a little bit...right after he stretched.
Brillia went to the little space she had prepared near a wall, scooping the sand in the sunny-hot space into a few little cushy-dune-mounds within a small depression. And there she settled - with Hers sitting down against the wall nearby to wait - and began to lay.
Brillia's Sundae Toppings Clutch:
Caramel:[/u] A warm golden-brown in color, this egg is covered in lazy swirls. A hazy sheen across it makes it look almost like it would be sticky to the touch. Easily the largest egg, it casts a shadow over some of its nearby clutchmates that borders between protective and possessive. Situated closest to the top end of Brillia’s perch, it tilts away from the outside world at a precarious angle. It rests ever so slightly against the Hot Fudge Egg and is just shy of touching the Whipped Cream Egg.
Cookie Crumbles:[/u] The second-smallest egg in the clutch, this egg is covered in jagged little patches. The majority of the patches are black and white in color, though there are some tan patches scattered randomly around. The lines inbetween the patches might easily be mistaken for early cracks, especially given their rough look. It’s nestled right up next to the Hot Fudge Egg and seems to be almost reaching out to the Sprinkles Egg. At times it might touch the Nuts Egg when that egg is rotated closer.
Chocolate Chips:[/u] The furthest egg from Brillia’s perch, this one has an oddly lumpy texture to it. Shades varying from medium-brown to black dot themselves across the surface of the egg. What this egg lacks in shine, it makes up for in character. Tilting unsteadily forward, it looks like it might fall over forward or roll backward at once. The surprising support of the tiny Nuts Egg seems to be all that is keeping it steady.
Hot Fudge:[/u] This egg is a dark but warm brown in color. Slightly rounder than most eggs, it looks almost like a fluffed-up tasty treat. The patterns across it make it seem as if it’s melting away and might reveal its occupant at any moment. The roundness of the egg gives it the added bonus of being able to touch three of its clutchmates: the Caramel Egg, the Cookie Crumbles Egg, and the Nuts Egg.
Nuts:[/u] By far the tiniest egg in the clutch, it lies directly in the center of all of its clutchmates. Almost hidden behind the larger eggs, this runt of the litter is betrayed by the bright, nutty yellow-brown of its shell. The shell itself is smooth and has more of a sheen than a shine. It touches several of the eggs, but looks like it’s almost acting like a crutch for the Chocolate Chips Egg. One might notice from the displacement of sand that this one has been turned much more often than the others.
Sprinkles:[/u] A riot of rainbow-colored speckles, this egg is definitely the most eye-catching of the group. Slashes of every color under the sun decorate this egg all over, not even allowing the idea that there is one base color under them all. This egg touches none of it’s clutchmates, instead tilting outward at a hazardous angle as if it just can’t wait to explore the world around it.
Whipped Cream:[/u] This egg is mostly a soft white in color, with hints of light blues here and there. The patterning of the blue creates the effect of making the egg look as if it’s made of soft, fluffy clouds in a summer sky. The effect is so realistic that one might think the egg itself would feel like a soft ball of fluff instead. The egg is positioned straight up, but gives the feeling that it’s not so much uptight but rather doesn’t care enough to tilt any which way. It sits just shy of touching the Caramel Egg, and just barely touches the Nuts Egg.
