AIVAS did its job. In fact, the job was done so well that Thread was no longer a threat to Pern- and a spacecraft some distance away managed to hear the final call. From there things happened quickly- the ship landed, the Antar met Pern and it's wonders. From that moment, nothing was the same.
The beautiful Antari people were fascinated by the dragons, loved the beautiful flits, and enjoyed the simple company of the Pernese. However, they would return home, some ten turns later. Those that Impressed dragons stayed alongside those that loved the draconic beings too much to live without them. Many holders and crafters of all ages decided to go with the Antar, striving to learn more about what was beyond their little planet.
What would have been a large step for so many ended as an utter tragedy.
The Antarian ship, Evernity, had not been off of Pernese soil for more than a few moments before the unthinkable happened. An explosion wracked the atmosphere, heralded by angry reds, bruising violets and vivid flashes of yellow. The ship that carried so many lives had crashed into the no longer erratic Red Star. Those who were left on Pern- Pernese and Antar alike- mourned the massive loss. But life was forced to continue.
A few turns after the Accident, as it was called, Thread fell once more, taking the planet by surprise. Many died. And this first 'Fall since the Accident- since AIVAS- made the Dragonriders realize that there were far too few people spread out about the planet, with an abundance of Dragonriders and a lack of Crafters and Holders.
Hundreds of turns later, the effects of the Accident are still being felt, though there are many more lives to fill the land of Pern anew. New hope has been placed in the western isles, a chain known as the Kindred Islands. A group of Dragonriders had left the overflowing Southern Weyr to make a new home for themselves.
Aphelion Weyr was built upon the largest of the islands, Sillion Island, by Pernese and Antar alike. In a few turns, holds were built up around the Weyr, vying that the land would be safe. And it was here they prospered, Holds and Weyrs alike, both striving to bring back the crafts the way they had been. A few Halls also had built up about the Kindred Chain.
However, grief overcomes Aphelion time and time again, as their beloved golden dragons seem to have been cursed. A long a chain of bad luck, startling and terrible- not a single golden queen has truly been able to live out a full life so far in the Weyr. The settlers laid all their hope in Analei and her golden Adrainarlyth, the queen only a few turns old...
- Non-canon, with a massive variety of colors and a core of players that has kept the Weyr running for three fun, plot-filled years! Things are never dead at this Weyr!
- We have several pre-made slots available, Dragon and Wher alike, as well as many Crafter and Holder positions for the player tired of making just candidates!
- A continual plot arc that covers everything from natural disasters to stolen weyrlings and dragon war! There is lots of excitement for everyone!
- Aphelion Weyr also sports a devoted player that does nothing but initiate plots! He strictly plays the other side of everything the admins cook up, creating mass chaos, mayhem, death, and mischief! Nothing is ever boring with Darkness Rising around! Beware!
- Open and running Contests, including Plot, Advertising, and Egg Guessing Contests! Have an idea for an interesting plot item? Throw it in, and we may well use it!
Events From the Beginning to Now:
- A monstrous Weyrling-munching watersnake is plaguing the Islands with its rampaging appetite! Though badly injured and half blind from its epic battle with Sr. Queen Adrainarlyth, it came back yet again. Who will it try to eat now?
- Oh no! Brownrider S'koin was murdered in the middle of a Hatching Feast with a meatfork! With no witnesses and no clues to the culprit, how will justice ever be reached? Who killed the dragonrider?!
- Following the completion of AIVAS, the last call was heard by even those in outer space! A Starship Leviathan picked up on the signal, and upon examining the planet, was sent crashing onto the Islands, infested with growing thread spores! The threat was neutralized, but now there is the surviving crew. What does one make of a ragtag group of cross-universe species?
- The Landers were moved to Aphelion Weyr for safekeeping and careful watch. The lot of them have strange antics, and know very little about the Pernese culture. Several of the pods holding hopefully rescued crewmembers are showing promise- will there be more aliens to come?
** Alien characters of the already created species are open for creation by Members!
** New Alien Races are capable of creation by Members with detailed species biographies!
-After the crash of the Leviathan, it was found that the great ship had reset the red star's orbit before it landed on Pern! A new Pass began and Thread terrorized Pern once more! It was disastrous, despite all the timely training from the Old Timer, Whiterider B'nard. Many dragons and riders were badly wounded and will need time to heal before they will ever fly again. Thankfully, the Landers apparently have technology fit to help out! How will the next Fall go?
- Northern Weyr kicked out all of their non-traditional colored dragons, making it the only strictly-canon colored Weyr on Pern! What has gotten into them, the leaders of Northern Weyr? A Celestial Rider from Aphelion is sent on a diplomatic mission to find out!
- Tempest of Aero Queen Eleth was murdered shortly after her dragon's eggs hatched, and the young Queen vanishes between! But the question is, who committed the murder? Drudge Perales is blamed, but not everyone is convinced it was he who did the dirty deed!
- After T'kor of Celestial Oskirth returned from his mission to Northern Weyr, it was discovered rider and dragon were captured and tortured over the course of their strangely long visit. The great Celestial is covered in scars and his rider is left with a permanent limp. The copper flitter that had followed was killed and dissected! Aphelion Weyr was madder than a hornet's nest!
- Pirates spirited away with all three classes of Aphelion's Weyrlings and two of Ista's young classes! After months of being missing, the Weyrlings are tracked to the Southern Continent when Lander Sran pulled the memories of the terrible Water Snake when it returned to Aphelion from following the Weyrling laden boats.
- The rogue Queen and all her Riders are confronted by wings from Aphelion, Ista, and Clydek Weyrs, demanding the Weyrlings back. Things do not go well! A rogue Bronze attacks the Lander Rodegnar in the undiplomatic fray that ensues, aiming to kill the alien. Solar Intanaith defends his Lander rider by slaying the Bronze, thereby starting the War where dragons fight dragons!
- Drudge Perales has been found not guilty of murdering Aero Queenrider Tempest, and released from his long imprisonment. But the question still remains; Who did do the dastardly deed?
- Things quiet down for a little while, allowing Golden Lydelask to run! She did well, and now there are a full eight new Wher Handlers ... three of which happen to be Landers! Still more startling, Lydelask took one of her eggs clear across the Weyr to deposit it on the sleeping Lander Captain!
- A Tithing train was flamed to ruin, starting a wildfire in the plains! While the wings of Aphelion were out fighting the blaze, an agenothree tank was set off as a bomb in the hatching sands, glassing the whole thing and knocking out the hatching wall!
- Weyrwoman Analei has gone missing? Where did she go? Will her Weyrmate survive the stress? Her great dragon is still obvious to all, but with the Weyrwoman out of sight, will something be avoided? Or has something already happened?
- The murderer has returned and murdered the Hatching Sands bomber! Worse, he tried to murder the Jr. Weyrperson, Sk'ler of Yellow Murth the same night!
- The Yellow queen and her rider have been rescued, but not without injury. S'kler is left recovering from a number of injuries, and his beloved sport Queen dragon has been left sterilized! Everyone in on the lookout for the blackrider and dragon responsible!
- Sr. Queen Adrainarlyth has risen and a new Weyrleader has been chosen! But with the hatching wall shattered and the sands glassed, the massive gold was made to lay her eggs in furry cradles! Her sizeable clutch of thirteen eggs, now resting on the Wher hatching sands, has hardened and will be hatching soon. She needs candidates to Impress her babies to!
- Sr. Queen Adrainarlyth's Symbology clutch has hatched and all the babies Impressed! With a spread of shades like this one was, it's no wonder Aphelion Weyr is considered an abomination by the strictly original color Weyrs! With two new colors and a young non-original Queen, who knows what trouble this set of Weyrlings might face?
- A new Gold Queen has arrived at Aphelion to stay! Welcome to Seshira of Gold Faerith! Benden was surely far quieter than Aphelion will ever be! Though her arrival is welcome, suspicions run high about the Queenrider and her Gold. What possessed them to come to Aphelion, where not a single Queen beyond the Senior has been left without injury or murdered? (The Winner of the Queen's Ahoy Contest is up and running boys! Wait until this lovely lady flies!)
- Aero Queenlet Illyruth and her Rider Otara have been kidnapped in broad daylight mere weeks after the arrival of the Transfer Queen! Aphelion is gearing up for a counterstrike as everyone wonders what became of the vanished pair! Suspicions and rumors fly as a meeting has been called- Anyone who is anyone should attend! What will come out of this terrible terror?
