Where: The Infirmary
What:
Mikovren has laid claim to two rooms, connected, at the infirmary area. Since he was moved as a Journeyman, rather than a candidate, and also keeps his private stores for his work on hand, the space is needed, and sometimes a little crowded. The main room is the larger of the two, and is his work area, with the bed chamber off behind it. The walls are the softer stones of the cliff face, and each room is lined with shelves, and has pelts covering the floors, as well as padding the chairs, bench and bed.
The outer room has the most shelves, made of a sturdy wood, and well-leveled, which line the walls up to the ceiling, and down to the floor in some place. A sturdy wooden desk takes up the further corner from the door, heavy black varnished wood with delicate carvings done by Miko trailing over most of it-it's a project in the works itself, and inlaid in places with tiny ground powders from broken crystals which glimmer in the light. The desk has several drawers on each side, and in the top, which are filled with various tools, brushes, inks, and hides/papers to write, draw, and record on.
The shelves are filled mostly with stores of various herbs used in his crafts, bins with his tools for healing, copies of records, jars of catgut and thread, and carefully stacked and cut reeds for splints. Clean, scentless linens are stacked carefully in a wooden chest opposite the desk, upon which sit a couple of rough-woven baskets used in gathering fresh supplies on his forays into the jungle or beaches. Over the desk, however, next to a narrow but floor to ceiling shelving of references and study materials, the shelves are devoted to his crystals and stones, which he gathers once a season usually.
Obsidians from the volcanic activity take up a shelf their own, all of various types, but high quality, since he uses them to make his own surgical blades, and the shelves to either side hold various flat stones for carving or heating or cooling-great to store food or allow a patient to keep heat or cold on a set part. The rest of the shelves are divided in half between stacks of carefully selected or purchased woods for handles or settings, and the various crystals found in his life, especially more recently in the caves. A basket of seashells hangs below a shelf, added to occasionally when he can be bothered to go.
Miko’s bedroom holds a storage chest of clothes, and a small one of personal items, both nestled against the wall near a somewhat spacious bed, which is covered in furs, of various color, since he cares more for texture than pattern, and a plethora of pillows filled with either sweet rushes, or more often, feathers from avians. A shelf in here holds carved trinkets and hair ties, along with a tumbled-about stack of sashes, since he typically wears two or three at a time, and a journal lies tucked under them, filled with various notes and thoughts.
