So, as you can plainly see, I am in need of some help around here! Kira will be back when she can, but for now it's only little 'ol Rouxy to the rescue and I've got a big move and work on my hands right now, so my time is a little more divided than it was before.
That brings me to the topic at hand, which is that we'd like to bring in at least two (possibly more) dedicated players to become something along the line of Global Moderators. This means that each person will have a little bit of control over everything, but still be under both me and Kira as Site Admins.
The Responsibilities
1. Mods will be able to approve applications, but it will take two Mod approvals versus the single Admin approval, thus just double checking on everyone's work. I even miss things sometimes and Kira's my double-checker in that area
2. Mods will be expected to post regularly, and one of their main jobs is to keep roleplay going, both in plot and personal areas. They will be included in some if not all main plots, and will likely be given NPC rights during many of the events.
3. Gather booth NPC replies will be shared between all Mods and Admins. We many split them up, or simply show a raise of hands for whoever wants to take a post at that time.
4. Mods may be asked to create news posts, initiate threads, or do other small individual tasks such as site updates etc. They may also be invited to create parts of clutches, but that is the prerogative of the clutch owners and the Admins.
5. Mods are not the police of the boards. They will be shown respect, but also must show respect. Mods will have limited control over posts, but may not ask a player to change his or her post without consulting an Admin first. They are able to give warnings, and are expected to pass on anything they see or hear to the Admins that may cause trouble, including OOC fighting, sulking or whining over color distribution etc.
The requirements!
1. Please be aware that these kinds of positions take time to do properly. That being said, a dedication of at least a couple of hours a week is all that's really necessary. A post here, news there, it's not that difficult, and I will definitely prefer quality over quantity. Smaller more personal tasks may be delegated to any single Moderator, but I'm more apt to do those kinds of things myself.
2. As far as experience goes, I require all of none. If you've been on the site, I'll know the quality of your work, and I can tell you now, I'd be glad to offer the position to anyone currently here. You are all of the quality I'm looking for, and the know-how is more of my department. No need to know coding, or any of that nonsense, just a good solid sense of roleplay knowledge and of course good knowledge of the site and Weyr history. I'm not going to dump 'Hey make a new layout' on anyone in the near future.
3. Be willing to play a multitude of characters, both personal and NPC. Mods will be encouraged to create more characters simply because it gives them a little more flexibility. That being said, it is understood that Mods will not always have every character active, so the activity rules will be slightly waived for them.
4. Be understanding and patient. We all want to have a good time here, but sometimes people can be annoying, or have a bad day or simply be upset. It's just a fact. Everyone does it, you, me, him, her. All Mods will be required to handle things in an understanding manner, be calm and respectful even if they are being raged at. (RAGE) So be willing to overlook some things and go with the flow.
5. A means of contact outside of the Weyr site, preferably some kind of instant messenger program. Rouxy has Skype, and AIM, but is also open to using Yahoo and MSN. If you have a different program, simply include it below. Email is only as a last option if you do not log into your IM program consistently. You may be asked to install a different program for conferences, but will not be required to log into it unless asked beforehand. This contact information will not be shared and will remain with Rouxy, Kira and the other Moderators.
The Application
Name: (Your user name, not real name, unless that is your user name
)
Experience: (Please list amount of time roleplaying, any previous moderator or admin experience, and anything else you think might be significant.)
Why do you want to be a Mod? (Just a little snippet about why you'd like to Mod.)
Means of communication: (Please include both the type of instant messenger you're using, and your user name. These will remain private.)
Anything else? (I like macaroni and cheese.)
Send all applications to Rouxy please, and these will be completely confidential. The new Moderators will be announced as the positions are filled and get a shiny place on the front page
