Meandering through what was now her new home Kestrel's mind was full of thoughts as she listened to the sounds of the weyr. Though she was alone in this particular corridor she could hear people moving around and talking with eachother in nearby rooms. She could hear dragons shift in their weyrs and felt the ground move when they landed outside. She must be close to outdoors now if she could feel that. She had set herself a mission for today but the lure of watching the dragons was almost overwhelming.
She followed the sounds of movement, making her way outside. She saw the feeding grounds nearby and decided it might be worth a look. As she walked she looked at the bathing dragons, half asleep in the sunlight, the weather still warm enough for them. among them she felt so lost, as if her life was completely insignificant in comparison to theirs.
Here she was, in the middle of dragonrider history, among those who deserved their place in time, and who was she? A young woman from Talgar. Nothing special. She didn't even have a craft! What had U'ar been thinking when he brought her here? She feared she would never fit in.
A fair of fire lizards flew past and she remembered her small purpose for the day. She felt unbelieveably guilty for leaving Jordan and Jorsk back at the Hold, but really she had felt obliged to accompany U'ar, especially when his brown had been so convinced about her. She wanted to send Jordan a message and surely a fire lizard would be the quickest and most reliable for the job? Unfortunately Kestrel had never impressed one so she'd thought maybe she could find someone here who had. Already she had seen a number of them wheeling and diving, chirping to eachother. So hopefully she'd find someone soon.
Her vague plan was to send one to Jordan explaining what had happened and hope he wasn't too angry with her. Then maybe he could come here and... Kestrel's thoughts trailed off. She hadn't seen any whers around here, would they be allowed? But no, even if they were Jordan might not want to come. She had to be prepared for that. After all, he had his own plans to follow. She knew he wanted to find a wherhold of some kind and though she had intended to ask U'ar about it she'd completely forgetten in the excitement of the moment. She resolved to ask someone about that for him, anything to make it up to him for leaving so suddenly.
