Glad that F'ren was quick to catch up, L'mar winked at him happily. "I've had a lot of practice," he confided, just before the other weyrling began to run. Not to be outdone, and nearly as eager to get away from the hum-drum (and the smell) of bagging firestone, he picked up his pace, as well, glad to run a little behind until they got to the beach. At which point, the green weyrling wasn't phased in the least, and instead began stripping as well. He couldn't claim to be uncomfortable or shy in the least (although he occasionally did, for fun, with people who didn't know him or his reputation). It didn't take long for him to splash into the water.
It was surprising that there were so few people out here- he and F'ren seemed to be the only ones. Sure, it was the middle of the day, but they couldn't be the only ones in the Weyr skiving off. And sure, the water was a bit chilly (it being winter) but it felt cool and refreshing after all that work he had done bagging firestone! Or, rather, running away from bagging firestone. Spotting F'ren, who was a little further out than he, L'mar readily walked over to him, waiting until the last second to send a splash of water his way. Childish, of course, but he was a green weyrling. He didn't have to be mature, thanks so very much.
Giving time for F'ren to recover, L'mar let his eyes flutter as he began to lean back a little in the water. "The water is so nice and cool," he said happily, going briefly back to his early life in the North before peeking out at the bronze weyrling. "Much better than firestone bagging. Truly, they should know better than giving us a chore like... that." Or any chore, really. Maybe he and F'ren should just be exempt from chores, because they probably skipped them, anyways.

Agreed. You're a tease. A terrible terrible tease, but then again, you already know that. You do realize that's nearing 30 things, right? Andddd it's alphabetized- you're insane. <3

Lialla of Green Cryth A green weyrling, obviously a bit socially awkward and terribly hide-bound. She doesn't quite know what to do with herself, but... she's trying! According to Cerulean High, she's a nerd. Socially awkward, and always tired from being up on the computer way too late. She's that one mousy girl that people think is ‘cute,’ but not in that way. Gotta love her? XD Lean on Me ((bill withers)) ...friends, whom she loves and depends on, and whom she encourages them to depend on her, as well. 1|-- K'vin- she'll give advice to him any time, and fills him in on the drama of her own life. Bust Your Windows ((jazmine sullivan)) ...enemies, and since Lialla has a volatile temper....... 1|-- R'tel- after a bad start, they just don't get along, and he frustrates her to an extent. Crush ((jennifer paige)) ...crushes, which she tries to ignore as it makes her feel uncomfortable. 0|-- None right now... D: The Only Exception ((paramore)) ...loves, despite the fact that Lialla doesn't really believe in it. When she finds it, she'll believe. 0|4 None right now... D: I Made It ((kevin rudolf)) ...past, and those from it. She had an interesting past, but she's here now, and she tries to put everything else behind her. Probably people from the North, or her brief time at Healer Hall, or the StarCraft Hall at Honshu. 0|5 None right now... D: Our House ((madness)) ...family, and those she considers to be family; she always feels at home with them. 1|5 L'mar- who's actually her brother. >> No fun. And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going ((jennifer holliday)) ...best friends, the ones that she'd never leave, and never let leave her. She values her friends too much. 0|3 None yet... D:

L'mar of Green Dalisth I think... he's finally a rider. :) Newly-graduated, with a young blue flitter named Nuisance. He's a prankster (admittedly) and not that great at following the rules. Can't blame him, they're pretty boring. ^^ According to Cerulean High, he's the class clown, whom it's safer to assume has detention every afternoon. "I don't doubt it," the green weyrling agreed, regarding the firestone with distaste. "This stuff can truly kill you." Nodding solemnly, L'mar moved closer, grudgingly willing to start. The faster that they finished this, the faster that they could leave this disgusting, pungent rock alone and do as they wished. He stopped only when he noticed F'ren regarding him with a more mischievous look, at which he raised an eyebrow. Now, usually he was the one who would give his partner that look. Being on the receiving end was disconcerting, but it should be interesting to hear what his fellow had in mind.
Ditching. Of course, L'mar had considered, but then there was the matter of who to ditch with, and since most of his options were not rule-breakers in the slightest... well... there had been his problem. But F'ren's idea- yes, he liked that, thanks. "Beach- ocean- no firestone? That sounds sharding fantastic. What are we waiting around here for?" he inquired. At which point, he walked up to a man, who was wearing knots that put him in charge. "We're taking our first break now, sir," the weyrling told him with the endearing innocence of an instructor's favorite student. He must have pulled it off, as the man nodded dryly and waved him on.
Coming back to F'ren, he grinned playfully. "And those, my friend, are the benefits of being an innocent, upstanding greenrider. Now let's go." Beckoning the other boy over, he lead him over to a designated 'break' area, and then he just began walking off as though he knew exactly where he was going and he had the authority to do so. It was one of the easiest tricks- if you look as though you're allowed to do something and you know where you're going, no one questions you. And thus he began walking towards the beach, direct route, believing that F'ren was following.

He had a list of names, thankfully. So as each person came in, he was able to mark off their attendance. It wasn't as though there were many to keep track of, but it was helpful for him to make notations. Toven nodded and returned Naoko's smile as she and her wher entered, checking her name off the list. "Congratulations, wherling." He didn't have time to question her research, however, as a Then there came Mira (the one that Impressed to the striped green hatchling), who made some comment about being late.
“You're not late,” he assured her, “we're just about to start.” Shaking his head briefly, another wherling walked in. This was their new male blue handler, Dastan of Dassk. “Good morning,” he returned. They almost had everyone, then... only missing two- there, the last green handler walked in, followed soon after by their brown wherling, Meta. He greeted them both, despite his slight cringe at the latter's boisterous greeting. He was much more comfortable with women who acted more feminine, but he had lived in a Weyr for all of his life. He'd survive.
“Greetings, and congratulations, all new Wherlings. As the majority of you know, I am Toven of brown Tovsk, your Wherling Master. As a unit, there are a very small number of you, and thus I suspect you'll get to know one another very well. That being said, fighting between one another is strictly prohibited. You will all, ideally, join the Night Guard in a Turn and a half. To do that, you must be a solid unit, working and living together. Put all disagreements aside and, if necessary, come to me.” Toven's brows lowered briefly, before he reasserted, “Me. Your Wherling Master. I am the only one with true rank in our little unit here, remember that. Among the seven of us, only I have a higher rank than 'wherling'. Remember, too, that 'brown wherling' means no more than 'green wherling' or 'bronze wherling'. Not right now.
“This is because, right now, you are utterly unimportant. The most important thing about you for the next Turn and a half is your hatchling. They will always, not always, be put before you. They eat first, are bathed first, and are given your complete attention until they no longer need it. Right now, your wher is a newborn babe. Sure, they walk and communicate, but they cannot eat independently, nor can they be left alone for a measurable amount of time whilst they are awake. You all brought them, which is fine... for today. After today, though, it is best that they be left to sleep. Once you feed them, they will likely be ready to sleep- let them. As they grow, they will be more attentive, at which point they will be included in the lessons. For now, however, it is you that needs to learn.”
Toven fixed every single last one of them with an icy stare, from Meta, who was in her mid-teens, to Naoko, in her early-thirties. “One of the first things you learn is about how you affect your wher, and your wher affects you. You are connected mentally at, currently, a very honest level. As you continue coming to classes, and your wher learns a little more independence, you may learn to censor. However, right now, your wher feels every emotion you feel. Sometimes, even when they are sleeping, your moods can affect their slumber. Thus, activities that could alter your state of mind considerably are also prohibited. This involves both alcohol and sex. When you whers reach an age of maturity at which they no longer constantly need your presence, and begin entering their age independence, I will give you the 'okay' at which point you can start up these activities again- gradually, mind you. Forging ahead without my permission could negatively impact your hatchling in a serious kind of way... not to mention, you could forfeit your handler-status for another Turn if I found out.
With that, he smiled distantly at the people in front of him. “Alright, then, any questions?”

((So... seeing that only Rouxy with Naoko has replied, thus far, and I want to get this thing moving, any wherling that doesn't reply by Friday will officially be LATE IC. This comes with IC consequences, as decided by our resident Wherling Master. If you fail to respond at all with your character, then your character will be ABSENT IC, with even bigger consequences. I know, I know, no one really likes lessons. But let's suffer through them together and see if we can make them a little more interesting. XD Let's get this crackalackin!))

There seemed to be, surprisingly, a numerous amount of his wherlings here. Most surprising was that they were awake at this candlemark. Toven knew that he had had a terrible sleeping time for the first month of his wherlinghood, unhappy with the new sleep-pattern despite his euphoria of Impression. Apparently, this batch didn't experience that. He shrugged, intrigued more by the hatching than by the habits of the wherlings. So long as they showed up to their lessons on time, and lights were out by the appropriate candlemark, he didn't care when the slept and awoke. He would pay extra attention, however, to how they and their hatchlings were affected by the new Impressions (if they did Impress) later that evening.
Dastan, with his blue Dassk, had already Impressed- a little green flitter. That was the only one so far, out of his wherlings... he thought. Toven forced himself to, again, focus on the hatching, and forget that he was Wherling Master. They were just random kids (except for Naoko, who wasn't a kid... but that was besides the point) who were also vying for the little creatures. Watching the various hatchlings bond to their chosen, a small smile came back to his face. They really were quite cute, despite being a bit annoying and a bit useless. Just a bit.
((argg sorry, two tests tomorrow. alliteration. XD))

Firestone bagging was awful. L'mar wasn't sure why he even wasted his time. He deduced that a combination of Lialla, Dalisth, and Nuisance was making him a 'rule-abiding person'... which was nonsense, of course. Truly, he should simply cut of contact with the ones that he could, and maybe life would go back to normal. Of course, Dali had to stick around. He wouldn't know what to do without her! Nuisance, though-- no, he had to stay. Dalisth would throw an absolute fit if her favorite little nuisance was kicked out, never to be seen a fit. Now, she wouldn't care about Lialla, but Lialla would care. His annoying, too-smart, and endearing sister wouldn't stand for being eradicated (again) from his life, and would annoy him until he gave in.
So he was stuck with actually doing his chores. Gross.
Sigh. Alright. L'mar went ahead and made his way to the designated 'bagging' area. Of all the chores, this one was terrible. Not the worst, but it was up there on the list. The only reason that it wasn't absolutely horrific was the frequent breaks. People even randomly came up to give them drinks and snacks. That part... yes, that part he enjoyed. Also, thankfully, one of the other weyrlings seemed to be there, already. F'ren, the bronzer from his own class. They tended to have similar work ethics, neither of them completely lazy when they committed to a task, but rather they wanted to get it done and done well so that they could leave. Also, thankfully, F'ren would know what he was doing. Praise Faranth.
"Am I late?" he asked. He didn't really care; if F'ren did, then the bronze weyrling could leave before he did... but L'mar doubted he would mind if the green weyrling actually was. However, he was never entirely sure where he stood with the other boy. He was a flirtatious to everyone with a female dragon- even some of the people without. Oh well. He didn't mind spending time with a handsome bronze weyrling, that was for sure, despite any man-whore-ish-ness.

Well that there proved his theory wrong, and so Toven gladly kept his mouth shut (for once). The first hatchling was a blue, who looked like he had different colors patched all over him. What an... interesting creature. Who was, apparently, afraid of all the people surrounding him. The wherhandler sighed shortly- he probably should have stuck to whers. They weren't afraid of their own shadows-- at least, most of them weren't. His hiding technique wasn't even effective- although Brillia was bigger than him, he had a superb wingspan, and he didn't understand that cowering in fear involved keeping your body completely hidden.
If he was going to constantly be this scared, though, he'd learn.
Toven rolled his eyes, before his attention was drawn by another egg hatched, revealing a green who also lacked an even shading. She was the absolute opposite of her clutchbrother, excitedly looking around at all those gathered around her. She was obviously much too hyperactive for his tastes, however, as she couldn't seem to choose any one of them that she might like, until the gold urged her along. At which point she didn't take any time at all, but merely jumped upon the first one with food. That was actually... vaguely frightening. He shook his head, and his eyes landed on the large, gawky blue, who was now attempting to hide behind the unhatched eggs.
Well, that didn't seem like a good idea. He'd probably knock some over, or some such nonsense. Flitters might be small and useful, but they could have very limited sense. Very conveniently, he forgot the knocking and upsetting of eggs that went on at the wher hatching.

Who: Lialla and anyone else What: Chores When: Mid-morning Where: Docks
If she had been smart, Lialla would have checked to see with whom she'd be spending the day doing chores with. A lapse in judgment, however, and a distraction by the name of Cryth, had kept her from doing so. Sighing, she went in search of someone to tell her what to do, hoping that she would be the first to arrive this time. The last thing she wanted was to have another encounter with a sharding... little... annoying green weyrling, such as the one she had been forced to deal with. R'tel had gotten along just fine with L'mar, who had arrived at the same time, and with R'nen, who had arrived even later- maybe he just had something against girls. That, actually, was probably it. He liked guys (he was a greenrider, after all) and felt that girls were trying to... steal them away, or something like that. Which was utter nonsense, of course. One of the boys had been her brother- no competition there!!
Maybe he just didn't like you. I don't know why, loveyMinelovey. But maybe! Cryth inserted cheerfully, albeit drowsily. The green was still firmly ensconced in the stage that (apparently) the dragonets were supposed to grow out of. She was around six months in age, half a Turn, and she was still always either eating, bouncing, or (most likely) sleeping. Right now she seemed to be in a stage in between the bouncing and sleeping. Thanks, love, that makes me feel better, Lia returned. Her mindmate, like usual, ignored the sarcasm.
Other than the encounter with R'tel, though, her reunion with L'mar had been fairly... tame. Which was strange, when taking her brother into consideration. She had already been pranked four times in the very short time- the most notable time being when he convinced her, in one of their small conversations, that he had a child who was two Turns old by the name of Liassa. He went on saying that she was in the Creche now with her mother, Sania, and she was just the cutest little thing. Of course Lialla had completely believed him, until she had insisted on going to see the little girl. At that point, of course L'mar had to admit that she didn't exist.
Other than that, she and Liam had been ge-- shells. L'mar. His name was L'mar, now, and she kept on forgetting. She and L'mar had been getting along pretty well. Shaking her head, Lialla walked up to find a dock worker, who seemed to be in charge. The man escorted her and her busy thoughts over to a pile of nets and, after a few minutes and a few examples, left her alone to mend the things. Her fingers didn't quite twist in the way to knot them together, and so it took her an extended period of time for each one, but she was able to make slow and steady progress despite it being her first time. This was actually... quite easy. And peaceful. See, this was why she got to chores early!

L'cin of brown Queth- a weyrling, one from the Surviving clutch. Which meant that he'd be a full rider, here soon enough. And he had a gold flitter? That was odd, for a weyrling, but it was hard to regulate who gets what firelizard when there's a clutch around. Everyone wants one- evidence being Toven here, right now, vying for a little creature. “Greetings to you, your Queth, and your queenly Brillia, then,” he said. Repressing a yawn, he nodded towards the brown dragon, made a small bow toward the queen, and returned the kid's grin before stepping back into the mass of other people.
Alright, so there weren't that many... but there were quite a few for a-- shells, how many eggs were there, any ways? Making a quick count, he determined that there were much too many people. Oh well. Worst case scenario, he still had Tovsk, although the brown might be disappointed if he found out that his handler tried for a baby flitter and didn't get one. Toven shrugged, watching the rocking and cracking of the eggs, waiting for the first hatchling to escape shell and reveal the beginning of the Hatching.
He wasn't sure what to expect out of this. He'd been to wher hatchings, but those fairly different than the dragon hatchings he'd attended, and those probably differed from firelizard hatching. Was it taking longer than dragon and wher hatchings, or was that just his innate impatience? Or maybe there was something wrong with the eggs? There had been an unhatched egg from Rozsk and Tovsk's clutch, much to both parties' disappointment... was it possible that all of these eggs were duds? Unlikely. But just in case, he wouldn't say anything.

Being asleep during the day, and staying up at night- it could do some strange things to a person's social life. You missed a great deal of the common gossip, which was fine for Toven... most of the time. Hatchings, however, were important Weyr events. The flitter hatchings were advertised almost purely through word of mouth; the wher handler wasn't awake when most of the population was, so he missed some vital things. Like, apparently, a gold's clutch hatching. Now.
The wherlings had been doing quite well, growing swiftly, and their handlers learning with surprising celerity. Most of them, at least. With them consuming a great deal of his time, as well as his Watch duties, Tov didn't have a good deal of time to himself. Hence, he had begun to wake up earlier (a lot earlier) to be able to take care of himself. Which brought him to today- exhausted, hungry, and in the hot Kitchens to find some much needed food. To fix the aforementioned-problem of hunger. He had been working on waking himself up when a boy rushed in eagerly, saying something about a flitter hatching. Now.
It only took a brief moment to remember that Tovsk loved babies- of human, draconic, whatever. And that was all the encouragement he needed to go, ask a kitchen girl for a bowl of meat, and then, when she complied, asked where the hatching was, exactly. See? Inconvenient to be awake when the Weyr was sleeping. Worth it, but inconvenient. But the girl gave him a destination, and so he nodded, took his bowl, and set out, following the boy who had detoured to the kitchen for meat.
Walking onto the Hatching Grounds a few minutes, restraining a yawn, he recognized a few of the people there. The clutchmother and her humanpet... yeah, he didn't recognize them. Feeling a bit the fool, Toven walked further onto the Sands, to greet the gold. Hopefully she wouldn't be one of 'those ones', that despised anyone whom they didn't recognize. That could have a negative effect today. "Greetings- I'm Wherling Master Toven of Tovsk. I heard of the hatching, today, and brought meat scraps to present to the hatchlings..." he told both the kid, and the gold flitter. Just because he was older didn't mean he'd developed people skills over the Turns.
((I'm pretty sure if I read this over, it wouldn't make sense. So.... I'll be sure to do that when I can breathe out of my nose. XD))
