"Oh, good," he murmured as he stood to follow the woman. "Greetings, Naoko," Toven added as she introduced herself. He rocked back on his foot as she did as he requested, searching for the book that he couldn't seem to find. Then again, he hadn't even known about this 'wher section' that he was apparently in. Wanting to commit it to memory, the handler took the time waiting for her to memorize the look of the shelves. Truthfully, it all looked the same to him, and he knew that if he wanted to find it again he'd have to rely on either dumb luck, or someone else's assistance. He'd never been good around books anyways.
It really didn't seem to take her long at all, considering the amount of time he had searched for it. Giving Naoko a small smile, he nodded his thanks. "Oh, of course I can. I'll leave it on the table tonight, if you're not still here. Why do you want it?" It wouldn't take him all night to find what he was looking for in it, a candlemark at the very most. After all, he couldn't spend all day and night reading it from cover to cover, as he may have liked. He had Tovsk to take care of, first and foremost.
However, it was an interesting question. What would a woman want with a book utterly on whers and their growth? He was a wherhandler, and Toven probably wouldn't want to read it unless he thought it would be crucial for his wherling lessons. It would probably be a fairly dull read, but he wanted to make sure that Rozsk's children grew well and that they and their handlers were trained adeptly.

Although she wasn't sure whether or not this could be considered an awkward conversation, Lialla could certainly label it as an unusual one. "Nothing like me... poisons the Weyr every so often instead of actually doing his chore... yes, that sounds like the Liamar I knew. I suppose he wouldn't have changed all that much after Impressing." Shaking her head, a small smile having wormed onto her face. If it was actually her brother... shells, but what if it wasn't? Still, Lia turned the smile back up towards her companion. "Of course I will, K'vin. I'm sure I'll have the opportunity soon enough. Maybe I'll even do it during Weyrling Lessons, tomorrow. You'd see it, first hand!" This idea encouraged her to bite her lip, as she envisioned the scene it would cause, especially if he ended up not being her brother. How embarrassing! "Or, not."
So she was in a rather questionable mood, not entirely sure if she was pleased or not. Searching her brain for something to move the subject to, Lialla immediately remembered. "Now that we've dissembled my family life, broken the ice, you could say. You had a question?" She kept her face and voice devoid of any emotion spare pleasantly inquiring, but her eyes were alight with mischief. Maybe she and her brother had more in common than either of them knew.
Pleased that she and Asileth agreed on something else, Cryth tapped her tail rhythmically on the floor. Peth is our blue clutchsibling. He looks funny! But I like him. Polo is a firelizard, but I can't see him. I think he's... Her tail stopped tapping. The green searched the word, but when she couldn't find it in her own mind, she asked both Hers and Asileth: What's the word when you can't be seen? Lialla quirked an eyebrow, but quickly supplied, "Invisible." Oh, yes! Invisible. I think Polo's an invisible firelizard who is Peth's like the little brown small thing over there is yours. Her tail resumed its tapping. She liked Polo and Peth and Peth's and Asileth and Asileth's and Hers mostest of all! Oh thank you. Then I love you almostalmostmostest.

So he was from Ista. K'vin seemed quite positive that that is what this 'L'mar' had said, and Lialla doubted that the green weyrling (either of them, that is) would lie about it. But that didn't mean that he was her Liam, her older brother. And there was next to no way to tell, aside from confronting this boy at a later date and flat-out asking if he was her long-lost brother. Shells, it sounded like some histrionically-inclined harper's ballad, and she was probably overreacting. There were sure to have been plenty of Istans whose names could have shortened to L'mar. There had been... Alimaro, for one. He had been an older harper, but still.
K'vin's last words, however, drew a grin from Lia. "Is this L'mar a little- loud? Um... overly-rambunctious, mischief-making fiend? Because if he isn't, then I know he's not my brother." Come to think of it, she wasn't entirely sure that this boy would be her Liam. She hadn't heard of anyone walking around, cursing his name. C'ko's, sure, but not L'mar's. Shaking her head, Lialla tried to decide if she wanted it to be her brother or not. One one hand: it could be her brother, whom she loved, and missed, and hadn't seen for Turns. On the other... it could be her brother, who caused trouble everywhere he went, never stopped talking, and whom she still doubted was actually related to her. The fact that they shared the same nose notwithstanding.
Oh. And she hadn't forgotten that he wouldn't tell her something. She just wasn't mentioning it right at this moment. But it would come.
This, Cryth determined, was why she made friends. So that they would share her views completely on loving everyone and being nice, and so that they would give her new listing techniques! She loveloved being nextnextmost loved by her clutchsister, and her tapping tail indicated her pleasure. I don't love everyone, but I haven't met anyone except you and Peth and Yours. I'm sure if I met everyone I would love everyone! Oh, and I met Polo too. I think. She paused for a moment, still trying to figure out the flitter that she couldn't see. Hm. Oh well! I love Mine the mostest, and then I love Peth almostmostest, because he's my best friend. And then I love you the almostmostestmostest... or is it the almostalmostmostest? Despite being a little confused by her own variation of the listing technique, Cryth was very positive that she got her point across.

It only took a few moments in the tree that Tovsk determined the tree was just slowing him down. Short seconds later, he jumped from the trunk of the tree and landed on the ground. He made his progress below his queen, instead of on level with her, pulling his wings in close to his body so that they didn't foul on the trees. His small stature worked well for him among the trees, where it might count against some of the larger contestants... really, the only one there that might have problems would be the wild bronze that had joined the Run. Of course, the glorious Rozsk would have no trouble with the trees, no matter what her stature.
The gold soon joined him on the ground, although she wasn't staying for very long, instead taking leaps and bounds. He stayed far enough behind that he wasn't crowding Rozsk, but he always stayed in sight. Tovsk used his agility to avoid the low-lying branches and vegetation that hung in the jungle. It took a more roundabout way, but he knew that he couldn't force through some of the barriers that more powerful whers could. Some things he could power through, but he didn't want to risk finding that a seemingly-weak barrier ended up taking him out of the Run.
So he avoided.
After Rozsk went up yet another tree, however, voicing her bark, the brown took about a moment to determine that it was time to go back up into the air. He darted up another tree, a few yards away from the one his queen was climbing, with the occasional interlocking branch. He darted up, himself, avoiding smaller branches on the way up. It wasn't quite as tall as the one Rozsk was climbing, but it wasn't too far off.
Toven was position up against a wall on the far side of the room. His mind wasn't completely enveloped by his wher's, but it was definitely more covered than usual. He was aware of Tovsk, more so than usual, and saw what he saw... knew what he felt... but he could still see Rozen staring at him as soon as he entered the room.

Although he would have protested, wanting to know what had been said, Toven didn't have enough to time to order his thoughts before his mind was absolutely bombarded. Bombarded with incessant ramblings of a dragon, he could do nothing but blink and nod as he slowly digested the words tumbling into his mind from an over-excited green. Every time he managed to form a reply he was thwarted by A. lack of time in between sentences to get his word in and/or B. unknowing how exactly he could reply to a dragon who was talking into his mind.
It was only when R'tel finally told him how to respond that he nodded, spared a blink, and then opened his mouth to try and speak. Cutting in, Toven took a deep breath and began began, "My wher, Tovsk, isn't a green- he's a brown. But green is a very nice color. So I've never had the opportunity to see the contrast between green and white." He took a breath. "I'm not sure who is attacking the the herdbeasts and people, but the Night Watch is working on it, trying on surveillance to see who the attacker is. It could be a wild wher, but I doubt it." Another breath. "Although violent, wild whers don't tend to attack so close to the Weyr. Granted, neither do any wild creatures- they tend to stay away from dragons, as big as you lot are." And yet another breath. He wasn't as lucky as Ineth, to not be able to breath.
It was an interesting debate, though. He truly wasn't sure what creature was attacking this close to the Weyr, as it seemed quite foolish to do so and wild creatures acted on instinct. If he hadn't seen the after-effects himself, Toven never would've believed it. "You'll be safe, though, whether or not you've got a weyr facing the jungle. You're a little too big to mess with," he promised Ineth. "And no, I'm not too sure that snorting would rid your weyr of a wild wher, However, you are considerably larger, and you could fling them from your weyr with a well-aimed wing swat. Probably."
He ended this diatribe with a long sigh, and a grin towards R'tel. Never before had he been more glad that he had Impressed a wher- not a dragon. For one thing, whers were much steadier. For another, they couldn't rattle on and on in their mindmate's mind. It was nice.

Well that was utterly unacceptable. Curse Rael's injury, because he wanted nothing more than to pick her up, swing her around, and reassure his best friend that he'd never ever leave again... ever. As it was, L'mar grabbed at her hand, clutching it to him. “Well, no worries now, my dearest. I will never leave you for so long a time, not ever again.” Despite the fact that he was jesting (obviously), he was being partially truthful. Although time for leisure could be hard to come by for weyrlings and candidates both, he was fully devoted to making time to spend with Raelwyn. Especially while she was injured, as she may need some help... and then especially after she was healed, as they could get into all sorts of shenanigans. Basically, he would always make time for her.
Oh Faranth. What was he saying? The bronze just kept on chittering and chattering, leaving L'mar at a complete and utter loss of what he was trying to say. Still, he assumed that he was trying to tell stories. There didn't seem to be any sense of urgency in his tone, and so the weyrling nodded to acknowledge that he was (trying) to listen. When the creature stopped chirping and chirruping, the weyrling grinned. “Well I got up this morning and ate breakfast and did some chores... and then I cajoled some kitchen folk into filling up this basket so that you and me and our girl can eat pretty well. Oh! And then me and one of your cousins, my Dali, we went for a swim. But nope, your stories are much more interesting than my own.” Going on blind luck and hoping that he hadn't completely missed his mark, L'mar winked at Rael.
It was sweet, and heart-warming, and fantastic to see how honestly eager she was to meet his Dalisth. That smile on her face as the green greeted her was unlike anything L'mar had ever seen, and it made him sickeningly pleased. Although his mindmate had, quite irritatingly, not involved him in her side of the conversation, he determined by focusing on Rael's reactions that she wasn't being too terribly offensive. Which was good, especially considering her aversion to the female gender. Still, he sent off the thought- Be nice, love. It's better to be safe, rather than sorry, as his mama used to say. I'm always nice! Dalisth protested, for his mind alone. He barely contained a derisive snort.
Even when he was included in Raelwyn's side of the conversation, he still said nothing. It wasn't his place to interrupt the greetings... at least, not the initial ones. He was sure to add in his own opinion later, anyways. No need to start now, when it wasn't necessary, and he didn't have anything particularly clever to say. However, although he hadn't been included in Dalisth's initial words, she apparently felt that he should hear the rest of it. Mine does love me. He loves you too, though, and I suppose you are pretty. And you seem to like me, so you have good taste. Yes, I think I like you. Her attention was quickly distracted as she focused on Tydus. She liked firelizards- they were just so helpful! Well, they could be nuisances, but they were pretty and tended to be nice. Firelizards! Cousins! You know that I and Mine have our own little nuisance, he has no name, and we need to name him. I like firelizards.
L'mar couldn't resist chuckling. Trust Dali to bring it all back to their little flitter so quickly. She just adored the blue, even while she called him a nuisance. “It's true, you know. I was hoping you could help us... but on your own time. Right now you're acquainting yourself with Dali, here.” In the mean time, the little blue had found his feet and winged, carefully, over to L'mar. He was a little unsteady, still tiny that he was, but he was a stable enough creature. Landing gently on his bonded's shoulder, the flitt tilted his head at Rael and chirped happily.

Letting it go was the more sociable option, the more caring option, the more friendly option. If Lialla was more socially-attuned, then she probably would have seen that K'vin was unwilling to talk about it now. That maybe later, if she proved herself to be a devoted friend, that he would tell her- but right now he wasn't comfortable. She really should learn to respect people's boundaries... but hey, she could claim innocent by way of social ineptness. "Really? Why not? I can't promise to help, but I'm a fellow green weyrling, and perhaps we could become friends, since we're going to deal with the same situations, generally." She smiled gently at K'vin, a little unsure at this situation.
Then, he began rushing on with the topic that with niggling at the back of her mind. Well, she had been planning on asking, anyways (after all, the whole 'ignoring' thing never seemed to work quite right). "Ista? Really?" And his name was L'mar... and he had a firelizard. That last piece of information had nothing to do with what she was trying to piece together, but it was something. "Shells," Lialla muttered quietly. She didn't often curse, but... "I had a brother, who's name was Liamar. We were... quite close," she confided softly. "His dream was to become a rider, but last I heard, he was still at Ista. But still, I can't imagine the odds- if he's from Ista, that is."
Cryth was very absorbed in her conversation, if you could call it that, with Asileth, and was therefore almost-completely shutting out Hers' emotional epiphanies. I don'tdon't see why anyone would hate Mine, or Yours. LiaMine is tootoo nice to hate!! she affirmed earnestly. She loved Hers, and therefore couldn't imagine anyone else disliking her. Just like she liked her clutchsister, and couldn't see why anyone else wouldn't. Everyone was just so greatgreat!!

It was a mystery to L'mar, how his best friend seemed to believe herself less than what she was. He had touched on it the other day in the Kitchens, before and after he threw the rolls at her, but apparently it was a carrying problem. She was covering it well with humor, and those outstanding blushes, but the insecurity was there. Well, was it insecurity, or just humbleness? The weyrling cocked his eyebrow, not to anything that she said, but rather to his own thoughts. As she continued on talking, her blush growing hotter and her words growing serious, he decided that it was a little of both. Everyone had insecurity, of course, and Rael was a teenage girl- of course she had insecurity. Even he had some, but it was hidden deviously beneath wicked humor and a good arm whenever anyone started digging towards it. “Maybe you should build a shrine to me, or something of the like,” he said, purely joking. “Kowtow to it at every dawn and dusk, and serve offerings.” Nodding decisively, he almost got through the words, before his gaze fell on Tydus, and he burst out laughing instead.
“Who am I trying to kid?” he asked after collecting himself again. “Tydus would become mighty jealous if such a shrine was built, and no statues of himself were present. So unless we're willing to handcraft mini bronze f'lizard sculptures, shrines, kowtowing, and offerings are out of the questions.” The weyrling allowed himself a heavy sigh, before again breaking his facade and grinning at Raelwyn. “Me? Kind? Oh, dearest Raelwyn, you may be the only person on Pern who thinks that. Ask anyone, and you'll see that I am only telling the truth.” Now, there was one lie there- after all, it wasn't as if he was a mean person. Plenty of people thought that he was kind, but they would probably never admit it, as he was too much trouble. The other part, however, about her being a lovely girl and the state of her clothes not affecting the 'lovely' part in the least... that was truth.
The conversation took a serious turn, quite quickly, with his own question, and now she was steadfastly avoiding his eyes, and his face in general. It seemed that she was particularly fond of that spot on his shirt. L'mar probably would have nudged her chin up to look at him, but his arms were a bit full at the moment. So he kept walking, trusting in his instinctive knowledge of the Weyr (and, more strongly, his peripheral vision) to guide him as his eyes were focused intently on his best friend. He, of course, knew how hard it was to not Impress again and again and again. The quiet voice in the back of your mind that grew louder with every Hatching, saying that you weren't good enough, that there was a problem with you, and that you would never accomplish your dream because you were inferior. Never ever ever would he want Rael to have that voice, but it seemed that she did.
“Sweetheart...” he said gently, still trying to draw her eyes as his own bore a nice little pair of holes in the top of her skull. “I have all the faith in the world that you will find your other half. She... or he-” his voice wavered for a moment there, and a small smile worked onto his face, as he remembered their short conversation about if she Impressed bronze. Quickly enough, he regained his composure, knowing that he was here in the capacity of best friend and needed to be there for Raelwyn. “She or he is out there, whether in the form of your unhatched dragonet mindmate, or your large, muscular, brooding chunk of man.” His eyebrows drew together. “You do realize that if you do find it in the latter, I expect you to share? Because we're best friends, and all.” Then he shook his head, and sighed. “Sorry, side-tracked. But, in all truth, Rael... I believe you'll Impress. And you're right, until you do, and during, and after- you'll have me, and you'll have your little king, here. I promise.” As if there was any doubt!
And as if he didn't know about the 'forbidden territory' of weight. However, when he had a question, especially when it was to his best friend, he would ask it. A mock-huffy look (if there was such a thing, at least, it would be pasted over L'mar's face) drew together his face. “Nope, I don't believe you. Tydus,” the weyrling turned his head towards the bronze flitter. “I am entrusting you with our girl's eating habits. I'm sure you'll have no problem in making sure that she eats at least three hearty meals a day.” As soon as he was satisfied that the bronze understood his task, L'mar turned his attention back to Rael and, bouncing her one last time, winked. “That should settle it.” Soon after, her fit of giggles drew his eyebrows up, followed by her perfect damsel-in-distress interpretation. As soon as her hand went to her forehead, a wicked look grew in his eyes. “See? You're light-headed and on the verge of fainting, the full embodiment of the symptoms one develops when they don't eat enough.” He made a brief tsk-ing noise, before grinning at her. “It was, however, my pleasure, milady. I am, after all, quite the hunky hero. And, just the combination of those words to describe myself, makes me think that any more of your gratitude could make me revisit my dinner in a very unpleasant way, so yes. Please stop.” His grin was one of pure happiness, despite his words of becoming sick. How he loved his best friend!
L'mar cuddled her in his arms, hugging her close to him for a moment or two. “Tydus was looking like I was feeling, so it was no problem. I'm pretty sure we had a manly bonding session, in fact.” He gave a small grin. “I think I believe, at least a little, because you, my dear, have made me happier than I've been in a long while. Dalisth is the center of my life, but you are certainly second on the list.” And, although Dalisth was first by an impossibly long stretch, Raelwyn was second above everyone else he knew by one that was almost as long.
((This is a monster. xD Whenever these two hook up, they tend to not shut up. Especially at midnight when I'm tired.))

Toven had become absorbed in his writing. He was actually making progress, up to the fifth lesson... which was more than he could have said before entering the Library this evening. It was slow work, but he was devoted to making sure that his future wherlings would be well-taught, and would use their time with him to the best of all their abilities. He wouldn't let idiots with dangerous creatures leave to join the Night Watch, for sure! His attention was drawn by a loud sigh, but when he raised his head and looked around, there was no one there. About to look back down, a rather pretty woman found her way around a corner.
Although it wasn't odd to find others among the stacks, it was to find someone around so late. Most people didn't stick around when it came time for supper, not to mention that they may actually have to light a glow or two to be able to see. Toven looked at her in surprise, doubly so when she merely nodded at him, and continued what she was doing. It seemed that she was very comfortable in here, and knew what she was doing. Certainly, she had more familiarity than he did.
That wasn't saying much, but still.
She began muttering; breathy words that he couldn't understand. Putting away the volumes in her arms with a sureness of their position. Maybe... maybe, then, she could help him find a title that he had been searching for earlier. He had been told that the book was here, but after a little under a candlemark of searching and no Record, had given up. This woman, though, she seemed very familiar with the Library. Maybe she would know where it was, or at least a general position for it that would narrow down his search.
“Excuse me, lady,” he said. “I was wondering... well, I am Toven of brown Tovensk. I was hoping that you could lead me towards a title that I was told was here, somewhere: Development of Whers. I can't seem to find it.” He never had had a problem asking for help.

Tovsk had been antsy for the past few days- waking up a good candlemark before the sun set, and acting restless until pure nightfall. The previous day, Toven had realized why, having caught a good sight of their resident gold. She was shining, glowing, obviously soon to Run. Of course, this meant two things for him, one: he'd have to deal with the Run, and the lust, and then console Tovsk if he didn't win. Two: he'd soon have wherlings to teach. Shells, that'd mean he'd have to work even harder at the plans he had in the works.
He hadn't thought that the brown would Chase again so soon after... well. But this was a gold's call, hard to resist. Hopefully this would help him- both of them, really. Even if they didn't win, maybe it could help them start to move on. Neither of them had been very social since Isya... or, since they moved to Cerulean. And even if they didn't win the Run, not that he didn't have faith in his Tovsk, but even if they didn't win, it could still be a step forward.
But that was of no matter right now, with Tovsk awake and antsier than ever. He couldn't stay still, thick tail twitching, despite the fact that they had a little under a candlemark before the sun set. Despite all that Toven did, he could not calm his wher, and so he sat stroking the vibrating form while he tried to work on the schedule for his future wherlings. It was when he had to stand to light a glow that Tovsk also stirred, standing, shaking, and then rushing out of the room. In response, his handler didn't light the glow, but instead put aside his papers and made his way to the room used for handlers when they were involved in Runs.
It was very simple for Tovsk: go, find queen, Chase. He was swiftly at the edge of the jungle, eager to prove himself, eager to show his devotion to the Gold Rozsk. She was beautiful and ferocious, wild and regal. And he would Chase to prove his worthiness to be her mate. He may only be a brown, and a small one at that, but he wasn't weak or slow.
The wher stayed silent to his queen's call, not making a sound until she began her Run. He ignored the other males, competing for Rozsk's attention, and instead waited, hushed in the shadows of the trees, until she bugled again and began to race through the trees. His pursuit was quick, but he still wasn't in the front, and when the other males began to respond audibly to her, Tovsk still stayed quiet. He rushed up the tree, his talons scraping the outer vegetation, his eyes intently focused on the glowing golden form.

Thankfully, he denied the need to be alone, as well. Lialla returned the smile, just as tentatively, as she wasn't entirely sure where she stood with her fellow green weyrling. But he wanted to stay, which was progress, to be sure. “Well, you have me beat there, as I don't know any other greenriders. Maybe you could introduce me to this L'mar fellow, sometime...” her voice trailed off. L'mar. She had just been thinking about her brother earlier, Liamar, who had this dream of becoming a dragonrider. His name would be L'mar, then. But his dream had also been to ride bronze, not green. And anyways, the odds were terribly low that it could actually be her brother, Liam.
Eyebrows high on her face, she turned back to K'vin to see his face bright red. With his stammering question, Lia pushed the idea about this green weyrling to the back of her mind for the moment. “No, no, what is it?” she inquired. He squeaked, obviously disturbed by his thoughts, and she reached out a hand to touch him briefly. “You can tell me, or ask me,” she assured him, smiling (what she hoped was) a gentle, encouraging smile. As mentioned, quite frequently, she wasn't very schooled on her social expressions.
And there was still that matter that wouldn't shut up, in the back of her mind. Biting her lip, Lialla decided not to say anything about it until K'vin spilled his own question. It wasn't likely, anyways, so maybe it would go away if she waited long enough. That'd be fantastic, if she could say so herself.
Cryth, although confused at Hers' thoughts about a brother, was delighted that her clutchsister still didn't hate her. That was good! Goodgood, I'm glad that you still like me, she said happily. I'm even gladder that no one hates Mine. I don't think. I hope no one hates Yours! Well-wishes, and all. She did very much-so like her clutchsister.

The girl is here, Mineown, Dalisth intoned from the shallows, as she brought her wing up to pour water onto her head. It was an awkward procedure, but she could see the girl who Hers seemed to like so much. Almost a rival for attention, except not, because Dali knew that no human girl could ever compete with her. She was, after all, the most beautiful green, and L'mar had to love her. Because he had to. Oh, where? L'mar looked around for his best friend, finding her moments after she shouted his name. A large grin appeared on the weyrling's face, and he hurried to fix his shirt, uncaring that it was getting a little bit damp from his ocean-soaked skin. Thanks, Dali, he added.
As her arms wrapped around him, L'mar leaned over a little bit to wrap his own in a large hug. Straightening a little, he lifted her up a bit, and probably would have twirled her around if he hadn't caught himself. Instead, he finally released her and maneuvered to kiss her on the cheek, only pulling away when he was sure that it'd release a large, wet noise. “I've missed you too, best friend. It's a good thing that we only haven't seen one another for less than a sevenday, else wise there'd be some severe separation anxiety.” He watched as a bronze flitter took flight, to land on his own shoulder, and he grinned. “Well hey there, little king,” he said in response to his chittering. Tydus was, frankly, quite the fantastic companion. On the whole, L'mar was glad that Rael had someone like the bronze to keep her company when he wasn't there.
His attention was drawn back to Raelwyn as she mentioned their little blue who had no name. Opening his mouth to tell her about the little creature, he was cut off abruptly. Mouth snapped shut, replaced with a large, bright smile. “Well then, come on,” L'mar told her, leading her towards the water. When the edge of the wave lapped at his feet, he stopped. Oh, you're not going to make her go out there. Come on, you wanted to meet her, too, the weyrling encouraged with a beckoning hand to his green. Twitching her tail in mock-irritation, Dalisth clumsily made her way closer to shore, and therefore closer to Hers and Hers' girl.
It was true, she did truly want to meet the girl that had her L'mar so happy. The green was delighted that Hers had found someone that made him happy, without scarring her terribly due to inappropriate relationships. Catching on the back of that thought, L'mar bent over to splash water at the approaching green. Hush, you know it's not like that, he thought at his dragon. She merely flicked her tail, playfully splashing water back at both Hers and the girl. Despite not often getting along with other females, her mindmate had frequently assured her that the girl was different, and so she would believe him for now.
Dalisth flexed her talons in the wet sand, feeling herself sink in now that she was no longer floating around. It was an odd feeling, but she only indulged for a moment or two before she turned her wedge-shaped head up to look at the girl. Greetings, gi--... Raelwyn, she said neutrally. It was only manners to use someone's name when you knew it in conversation, but she had to catch herself from saying 'girl'. Usually, she used it to make sure that Hers wasn't mixed up, and thought that she liked the little one or something like that. Which... she did, but she didn't want L'mar getting too comfortable with that fact. Mine talks of little else. That was true, as well. Oh! And she could help them name the little nuisance!
