U'ar had to chuckle again. The girl fumbled with her words and curtsy a bit. Such honor to him? It felt weird. Then again, he didn't really head out of the Weyr much and he was used to people who were more comfortable around large dragons and their riders. "Sorry about the show off there. I just called him a wher and he is trying to prove that he's not. But you really needn't be so formal with me. U'ar is fine. Uh....I don't think I caught your name though."
He smiled gently at her, trying to keep her calm. The fact that she was with someone could pose a problem. Well, her companion could be of use to the Weyr. He couldn't be counted out yet, of course. If he had a useful skill, the Weyr would happily accept him. He made a mental note to ask her about this friend. Gently, he lead her to a more quiet part of the city. ((Sorry it's short. I have company coming in a minute.))

He gave her a gentle smile, seeing that she was nervous. If she ha already caught sight if Odyth, that was a natural reaction. The brown could rival a small bronze. And with his scars and general rough dragonman appearance, he was sure he didn't help much either. A smile was all he had to calm her.
"Hello there, miss. My name is U'ar of Brown Odyth. Please don't be nervous I just have something I want to ask you. Do you care to talk to me for a short while?" He extended her hand to her for a handshake, trying to put himself more on her level. He had no idea what kind of experience she had with dragonmen, but it couldn't be too much or too good.
I don't think it was I who scared her, Mine. I am all the way up here. I must look like a flitter from up here Odyth chided. Uar could hear the draconinc grin in his voice.
Or maybe like fat lazy wher U'ar chided back mentally. He woul show that brown that he hadn't lost his touch. The brown snorted in response. Him? A wher? No, he didn't think so. That was a low-blow indeed. As if to prove that was not what he is, Odyth stood at full height and stretched out his wings, giving them a few test flaps. His eyes were still turned in the direction of the two humans, showing himself off.

((For a first time, that was an excellent post!!! Let any of us know if you have any questions!))
A gift. Yes, U'ar needed to find a gift for Mu. To congratulate her. To show her he was proud of her, not just upset. But the brown rider was on his guard. With the recent happenings at Cerulean, he didn't hold too much trust around the area. But there were still so few people at the Weyr. He would just be careful. Odyth would do anything in his power to keep His from getting hurt. Even now, he could feel the brown's eyes on him from a nearby ledge. It was comforting.
U'ar cast his eyes up to the brown then stopped at a merchant's booth. It was an apprentice from the Weaver Hall. U'ar looked over the dresses. Mu did nee a new one. He picked up the sleeve of one gown, trying to hie his frown. The stitches weren't straight. He cast an eye at the apprentice. She had a bent needle in hand, desperately trying to fix the hem of a dress. No wonder the poor girl couldn't sew straight. He moved away from the dresses, considering at least buying a blanket from the poor thing. That way she could maybe go get herself a new needle.
She finally seemed to notice him as he shifted through a few simple, but blotchy-colored blankets. She looked up at him, brown eyes giving him an impatient look. As she pulled some more thread, she stuck the bent needle in the side of her mouth and spoke through it, giving a slurring sound as she talked, "Ya gonna buy sormfing or ya gonna go?"
U'ar shot her a stern look. Surely, the girl knew he was a dragonrider. There weren't too many floating about here and his knots were clearly pinned on him. Even if she couldn't read them, she had to know what they were. Especially as a weaver. But, ever polite, U'ar simply turned on his heels with a "No, I think I'll move on" thrown back to her.
That was very nice of you, Mine. I was kind of tempted to swoop down and scare her a bit. The dragon's comment made U'ar chuckle aloud, instantly putting him in a better mood.
We have to be careful, old friend. I feel a bit uneasy here. I really want to find Mu something and go. As much as it was a long-forgotten Terran stereotype, U'ar wasn't a fan of shopping, further driving his in and out motives.
Suddenly, the brown perked up a bit. Mine, look The dragon's quick command had no follow up, though the dragon id seem to rise an take his eyes off U'ar.
You find something for Mu? he asked, turning in the general direction the dragon was pointing. In that direction was a Master leatherworker. Ah, yes! Riding boots! Perfect! He knew his daughter would appreciate a practical gift instead of a new doll or dress, though the latter she would definitely need eventually.
He did not take two steps before his dragon stopped him again, this time, flashing an image of a girl he saw nearby. U'ar was confused for a moment. What had a girl to do with anything?
I see something in her, MineOwn. She has something special. She longs for something. Talk to her. Bring her back.
Oh! Was he Searching her? It had been a longtime since the brown had done that. He was very inwardly for a while. The two were getting better. U'ar turned to look at the girl, giving her a probably uncomfortably long stare. Using some of his dragon's "eyes", he triedto see the same qualities in her. She had a frown on her face. Well, she could certainly long or something. Ah, why not?
He took a few strides towards her, calling out, "Excuse me, miss!"

Thanks a lot Parallel. I'm sorry your ex is still at it. Luckily, mine should be moving across the country after May. I have sent a text to his best friend (who is also a good friend of mine) and his housemate and asked them to please keep an eye on him. They care about him. Unfortunately his housemate is in an intense class right now and can't go out with him at night (he goes out too much. :/) but as long as he's getting up and going out, he'll hopefully be ok.
I just want him to be happy, but without me. I still care about him. I always will. We had a great relationship and I did love him. I still do, but in a different way. Almost a past0tense way, I guess. I just hate hurting people. But I think that's good advice. I am trying to just ignore it all. We're both on the board of one of our groups, but the director is his best friend that I talked to and she said it's fine if I don't go to some meetings and I'll just talk to her on chat during them.
It just sucks, you know? To have to push someone completely out of your life because they don't understand.

Advice is welcome, though, of course. I'm pretty sure a few of you are older than me, so I thought maybe you have some older-person wisdom, haha.
Well, as you guys may know, I recently went through a break up with my long-time boyfriend (two years, and it happened about two months ago I would say). He broke up with me. I was devastated, but this sort of thing had kind of happened a couple of times before (we'd go on "breaks" then get back together) and I have great friends, so I managed to start feeling better really quickly. At first, I would have probably gotten back together with him if he'd asked, despite my friends telling me not to. But, I quickly realized that being single was kind of freeing and he had been so much work to keep up with/make happy. I did a lot better in school, I started hanging out with new people and doing new sort of things and making more plans. I was just kind of happier.
However, he soon decided that he wanted to get back together. He'd invite me over to talk/watch a movie in a group and I'd find something like a romantic setting with wine and candles (he wasn't very romantic during our relationship) or it'd somehow end up with just us. I allowed it to go on for a little while because it was nice at first. But it quickly seemed to escalate and I quickly became more content and secure being on my own with no boyfriend.
I came home for break hoping that the break would give him time to get over me, so I tried talking to him as little as possible. This did not stop him from calling me and he was always upset because I didn't seem enthusiastic. I just didn't feel like I could tell him I couldn't see us getting back together because I knew he'd be upset. He kept telling me he was trying to change and be a better boyfriend to me. He said he was quit smoking, he was working out, he was getting new clothes and a new hair cut. He tried dancing with me at a party that I was at that he showed up to (I was always sad because I love to dance and he never did). He even wrote me a very beautiful song for a Christmas present.
It all came to craziness when I went back to school to be in my housemate's Rock Horror group the other night. He was there and kept touching me or calling me over to talk all night. Even during the show when I was trying to get ready/change he'd want to grab my hand or kiss me, even though I told him no. Before the show, I even told him I didn't see us getting back together. I told him finally that I was actually kind of happy being single so I could focus on everything I wanted to focus on. He did not take it well.
At the after party, he came and continued his touching/sadness/whatever, but even worse as he was drinking a lot. He even gave me the finger and called me a whore (sorry if that's not pg-13.....I can change it...) a few times "in jest". Finally, he trapped me into another argument once I came out of my bathroom. Since the bathroom door was open, the noise of the argument reached my sleeping housemate (she was fine with a party, but not with someone yelling at me outside her door). She ended up kicking him out of the house. He is still banned from entering my house for a while. Until he is settled pretty much.
I decided that we shouldn't talk because it was hurting him. One of my housemates who knows him pretty well answered the phone for me while I was there to tell him not to call me. But once I left, he still called. I called him back once only to tell him from my own mouth that we shouldn't contact or see each other for a while and assured him that he'd get over me and find someone even better. He, of course, thinks that means that I hate him. I couldn't convince him otherwise, so I told him that it wasn't true, but if he wouldn't listen, there was nothing more I could do. He hung up, but texted and called me several times after that, which I ignored. One text, though, said that he felt like dying.
He's had depression/been on medication for a while and after his last girlfriend cheated on him and broke up with him, he swallowed a lot of pills and ha to get his stomach pumped. I am just so scared he's goign to hurt himself. He doesn't have too many good friends because he has a tendency to not let things go (Hmm,,,,,) and can be annoying to some people. You don't think he'll really hurt himself, do you? I'm just so scared, but I don't know what I can do.

"Watch it," Tazar hissed nastily as a girl pushed passed him. Not his type. Definitely not. And since she wasn't, she wasn't worth his time. The girl she addressed was only a little better. A little too big for his tastes. He humphed lightly and drained his current glass of wine. Where were the attractive, loose dragon women?!
"Ugh, what a jerk," Valee sneered. That guy couldn't get her down for long, though. Not with Iveth on the edges of her mind. What a lovely, calming force. "I barely saw you in all the madness, Batavia! Congratulatons!!! What is his name?" She gave her friend an excited hug. "It's about time, huh?" She quickly grabbed a glass of wine for the both of them an held it out for a toast. One glass couldn't possibly hurt! They were celebrating!

Klah. It did an aging body good in the morning. U’ar was just finishing his morning cup when the call came. He swigged down the last bit and stood with a stretch. Better get up, you big lug U’ar teased Odyth, knowing full well that the brown was already up an stretching in anticipation for drills. The two rose early, even if they weren’t troubled as much with thoughts and dreams of the past.
U’ar hurried to his Weyr, rubbing a hand over his cheek. Ugh, it was stubbly. Hopefully, V’ton would forgive his appearance. He would have to shave after drills. Good thing I still look halfway decent. People might start to think that you’re going again because of Mu and her new oneOdyth clipped as U’ar quickly outfitted his riding straps.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You think you’re funny. Mu has done a good job so far. Time will only tell though. I’m trying. The slightest of frowns crossed his face, though he knew the brown was only messing with him. It was just something hard that he had been having to go through. But, then, of course, Odyth had to deal with it as well.
The two seemed to be the first to arrive as they glided down, sharing unspoken understanding that U’ar was trying and Odyth was there to support him. U’ar gave V’ton a smile and a nod. “Hello V’ton, Dysiiliouth. How are you this morning?”

What had she been thinking? Sneaking onto the Sands like that? He was so mad. But he had given himself plenty of time to calm down. He had to admit that the loss of their Queen bothered him more than anything. It made him worry more than he normally would. U'ar sighed gently and rubbed his temples, leaning against his big brown. What was a Weyr to do without its key components? They had no Candidate Master, Weyrling Master. No real Weyrleader and the next in line for Weyrwoman had a while before her dragon was old enough.
Mine, it will all be alright Odyth soothed, snuffing warm air on His, disturbing the older man's hair. A smile lighted U'ar's lips for a moment and the two shared in the warmth of each other's thoughts. Maybe this was the right place for them to come. They could make a difference. And now, Mu had her own dragon. U'ar wasn't extremely happy with that. She was too young. But it was a white. It would not be a strong fighter or mater. He had some solace in that. He just hoped that the little, odd creature would survive.
"Well, shall we escort my former little girl to the feast?" U'ar said, quickly climbing up on the brown. Odyth rumbled She is still yours. You'll just have to share her with Trivaruth. Though Trivaruth will probably win for a little while Wise words, my friend, wise words With that, the two headed down to the Weyrling Barracks. He paused before entering, giving a sigh. He hadn't been expecting to walk in this place for a while.
He saw some of the new Weyrlings running past, dressed up nicely. He nodded and smiled to them, holding back tears in his eyes. He found Mu in her room, still dressed from earlier. She was cradling a sleeping white head in her arms, eyes shining with the hope of the world.
"You should go to the feast," he said, his voice cracking a little from holding back tears. She jumped and turned, a sheepish, guilty look on her face as she saw her father standing in the doorway.
"Dad...I'm sorry..." she said, gently placing the small head off her lap and standing up.
He walked forward and hugged her tightly, afraid that she was going to grow up that instant and he'd never have his little girl anymore. "I forgive you," he whispered in her ear, "I understand the call. You have a bit of your mother in you I guess." He looked at her and quickly wiped away a tear. "Now, come on and get dressed."
"But..." Mu turned her head, large eyes staring at the tiny white figure with two-tails.
Go MuMine! Trivaruth will be fine. You took such good care of her. She is going to sleep... Mu nodded.
"I'll wait outside," U'ar said with a smile and exited the room as Mu got dressed. Mu peeped her head out, and smiled at U'ar. He smiled bck and offered his arm. She was dressed in a white dress that seemed too small for her. The two hadn't had many occasions to get dressed up. U'ar's body hadn't changed much so his dress clothes fit fine but Mu had been growing. That's right, his girl was gonna be a dragonrider.
The two walked to the feast together, not speaking. They didn't need to. Loss had made them closer. Mu would occasionally close her eyes. Checking on Trivaruth, U'ar was sure. She was gonna worry and fuss over that white.
Upon entering the hall, U'ar weaved his arm away from Mu's. "Now, go meet some of your fellow Weyrlings. Make friends. They all should be a bit more grown up than those in the Lower Caverns. And you'll have so much more to talk about now."
Mu looked uncomfortable for a second. She knew her father would not give up on her too easily. She would just hide in the growing crowd for now. She nodded quickly and escaped to the opposite corner, a light blush on her cheeks.
U'ar sighed, running a hand through his hair and quickly headed over to the wine, filling himself a glass. As he did that, he noticed one of the new Weyrlings with quite a generous portion. He gently tapped Keiko on the shoulder, a stern, fatherly tone to his voice. "Now, watch it with that wine there, miss. Your new blue's mind isn't fully developed. Just watch yourself so you don't wake up feeling horrible in the morning. I'm sure you'll have Lessons..." He paused in remembrance of M'ma. The old Weyrling Master would not have stood for the girl drinking, but she hopefully knew her own limits. As long as Mu wasn't drinking....
---
He was furious. He had even had his parents send him his very best clothes. Where was his bronze? Why did the sharding search dragon take him away if he was just going to be standing on the Sands, humiliated. No, his dragon would come. Eventually... It was hard to tell when since the only old was newly-hatched.
Tazar was going to get drunk tonight. He was angry and needed his wine. He paraded into the feast, dressed, still, in his finest. Who knew, maybe he'd get a girl for the night out of it as well. He sighed deeply, getting his anger out and ran a hand through his tight curls. Luckily, his parents hadn't come to the Hatching. They hadn't seen the embarrassing spectacle. He could easily tell them that he rejected the weak bronze that came to him...yes...because it was too pathetic. Surely not meant to be his. His bronze would come next time.
He straightened his gold jacket and strode forward, heading straight for the wine. It better be good wine. He quickly grapped himself a glass and chugged it down, ignoring the looks of the others. First one you chug, second you sip. Obviously. He got a second glass and took a small, noble sip. This wasn't their best stuff. He was sure of it. But no matter. Good Benden wine was better for sipping at dinner anyways. No, he was going to forget the humiliation he faced today the best way he knew how: wine and women.
---
It had finally happened. After being disappointed multiple times, she had gotten her lovely Iveth. She was currently scratching the young green's eye ridges as she snuggled close. Valee couldn't help but feel totally at peace. She was arguing internally about whether or not she'd even go to the feast.
Oh Mine! You should definitely go. I will still be with you. And you must see all your friends! Then they can be my friends? Please...introduce them to your Iveth...t...tomorrow....
Valee giggled. She didn't know dragons could stutter. More and more surprises everyday. It would be nice, she decided. Especially to see Batavia. She had Impressed too! With a kiss on the dragon's head, she hurriedly got ready. Her dress was simple, but showed off her curves well. Quickly, she threw up her mess of curls, which had decided to be a mess, into a sort of updo. Valee took a moment to look at her reflection but was interrupted by a sleepy voice. You look beautiful! Go, go! I am going to sleep...
Valee smiled and ran out and hurried to the Great Hall, looking around for her friend or anyone else she recognized. She had to congratulate Rael as well.

Trivaruth squawked in surprise as she felt the bulk of her bronze brother support her. Yes, he was strong. He would help them. Happy, swirling eyes looked from the Apple-Cinnamon Bronze to Mu as the two of them got her to the feeding area much more quickly than the white pair could ever do.
Thank you,my brother! Trivaruth will repay you when she is stronger. the sweet white crooned to the bronze as he wobbled off to help his green sister to the boys.
She then turned to Mu, who had not yet stopped to rest and was running to get meat for her darling new love. Mine! Isn't my brother so nice? She asked, eagerly accepting the bowl of meat that Hers offered.
"Yes, yes," the young girl cooed, not a single person or dragon running through her mind at the moment except for hers. "Now, eat. Your nice brother can't always help us. We have to get you strong."
Trivaruth agreed and heartily dug into the meat, careful to chose the pieces small enough for her. She would grow strong for Hers.
---
Tazar was getting anxious. The eggs were all Hatching. Where was his bronze? A white hatched. Ugh, what a weakling. Why didn't it just get up if it wanted it's Mine so badly. In the middle of his contempt, one of the desired colors burst forth. Yes, a bronze! Surely, that was his...
What wa sit doing? It should be coming to him, not helping that white and it's girl. Well, maybe it saw potential in them. Maybe it was just a ladies man. Then...why was that green impressing a boy...... Tazar shuddered at the thought. Certainly not. He crossed his arms and mentally shook his head. And soon, he felt a whap of a tail in his stomach and a burning on his butt.
He coughed, allowing air to rush into his lungs. That bronze...what was it doing? The fool. He ducked again as the tail swung around again. Then the bronze walked off the Sands with his chosen boy. Ha, good riddance. Like he needed such a weird, wobbly bronze. As he stood back up, trying to gingerly get sand out of his previous wound, he oticed the Queen hatching. She quickly chose a girl. Tazar smirked. She was pretty. Very pretty. Yes, this new Goldrider would make the perfect weyrmate. A determined glint came into his eye. It was decided. One of the unhatched eggs was his bronze that would one day catch that Gold. Ad together, he and Raelwyn would rule the Weyr!
